I want to open this thread to see what u want ethiopia to look like 5-10years from now and what u think ethiopia will be in the same period? try to be optimistic and lets see and discuss our dreams.

For example, I want Ethiopia to have the first democratically elected leader and a general reconcilation in 5years from now and Ethiopia to be a place where people migrate too not the otherway around in 10years.

But what i would think it will happen is in 5 years melese will be still in power with some lame execuse to stay in power and not keep his promise and Azeb will be the first female leader in 10yrs.

What do u think?

our export revenue is to reach 10-15 billion dollars within a couple of years,,,, I think my list estimate of that in 15- 20 years is ,,,, 100 or 200 billion dollars,,,you have to keep in mind the industrialisation of the country and and the increasing development of mechanized farming work's that is being carried out now. we are soon going to be one of the major producers of finished industrial goods,,, i mean with all that electricity we will be producing ,, I believe industrialisation of the country is the ultimate goal of the government, not only power export...

Industrialisation is the obvious goal, exporting electricity will help us get there. It also creates important bonds with neighboring countries.

No hunger, No bloodshed, No tears. We can all sit and solve our issues like a family. Then everything else will take care of itself.

What I expect to see in 5 years (2017):

- Completion of all announced infrastructural projects relatively on time
- Electricity coverage to reach at least 60% of Ethiopian households
- Share of industry to reach 18% of GDP (from current 13%) and share of agriculture to drop from the current 42% to 37%. Share of services unchanged at 45%
- Opening up of cellphone and internet services to private local investors
- A stock exchange
- Grow exports from current $2.5 billion to at least $10 billion.
- Significant diversification in the export base; I don't want to see coffee anywhere near the top 10 export products
- A real GDP per capita of at least $700

In 10 years (2022):

- Electricity production of at least 30GW
- Electricity coverage of above 95% of households
- Literacy rate of 80% for population as a whole - above 90% for the youth (15-30)
- Export revenues well above $50 billion
- Real GDP per capita above $1200, and GDP per capita PPP above $3500 - reach low middle income status
- Share of industry to be above 25%, and agriculture less than 25%
- No humanitarian aid whatsoever
- An additional 3000 km of rail u/c
- At least 3 different interregional highways under construction
- Urbanization rate to rise from the current 20% to 30%

That's what I expect to see. What I hope to see is obviously for all my expectations to be widely exceeded.

U rember this trend we were discussing what our nation looks like in 5-10 years. some members said their only dream is to see Melesse to go and yaaaa God has made it.

Regarding the export revenue, one members suggested 10 billion dollar is just a 2 year minimum target. How did u see now. Let's evaluate our dream.
