:D ^^ Eagles' Bridge (Bulgarian: Орлов мост, Orlov most) is a bridge over the Perlovska River in the centre of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It gives the name to the important and busy juncture at which it is located. The name of the bridge itself comes from the four statues of eagles on it, which are, symbolically, its protectors and patrons.

The bridge and juncture are located in the immediate proximity of the Vasil Levski National Stadium, the Monument to the Soviet Army and the park Borisova gradina. For the traffic entering Sofia from the east by Tsarigrad Road, Eagles' Bridge is the first juncture and the point from where the city centre is accessed.

The bridge was constructed in 1891 by Czech architect Václav Prošek, his brother Jozef and his cousins Bohdan and Jiří, who also designed and built together the similar but lion-themed Lavov Most in 1889.[1] The entire construction of the bridge cost 80,000 golden leva.

One of the bridge's columns and bronze eagles are depicted on the reverse of the Bulgarian 20 levs banknote, issued in 1999 and 2007.[1]

Here you can see some information about the metro in Sofia: click (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sofia_Metro). You can read that for the moment it's 18km in total for 14 existing stations. At this moment 2 stations of line #1 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1279405) are under construction and 11 stations for the metro line #2 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1279407) but I am not sure how much it will be in kilometers when they are finished (which will be quite soon). I am sure someone from our forum is updating the wiki page, you can always come to our threads and ask for additional, more detailed information :D

edit: If you understand Bulgarian enough to get the idea, you can also look at the wiki page in Bulgarian (http://bg.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%BE%D1%84%D0%B8%D0%B9%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%BE_%D0%BC%D0%B5%D1%82%D1%80%D0%BE), it's much more detailed than the English version.

It's named after St. Sofia (the Holy Wisdom), a church build during Roman times, between IV-VIc, just after the edicts of Constantine the Great.

Наистина, толкова ли не можаха да монтират поне по един ескалатор и от другата страна на Сердика 2 -откъм връзката?

Относно информацията - има още много какво да се желае. По пероните на Сердика 2 никъде не е отбелязано на къде, към кой вестибюл е връзката към Сердика 1. Вярно - вижда се червената табела над терасата, но някой по-незапознат от къде ще знае, че тази табела показва на къде е трансфера и какво пише на нея.
Такива схемички видях само на Хан Кубрат.

The second line was opened on August 31st :) The total price is 400 M EUR (50% from EU) for the construction and 80 M EUR for new trains :)

In the recent days it was announced that the metro company of Sofia will try to include the construction of an another station into this program period of EU (meaning it must be ready until the end of 2015). The tender for the technical project was announced which will be followed by tender for choosing a construction company. This one station will bring line M2 to the Hladilnika neighbourhood, where is the terminus of many suburban buses, as well as home of one of Sofia’s biggest mall (still under construction).

So in the period between 2012 and 2015, a total of 8 stations will be constructed, and the network should be enlarged by another 10 kilometres. Here I don’t count the construction of line M3, which should start in 2014. In total at the end of 2015 we expect to have 35 stations and around 43 kilometres of system length, on both lines M1 and M2.

Yeah, interchanges are always good on busy roads :)
However, don't get confused, this particular interchange is not on the ringroad. In fact it is near the city center in the middle of "Borisovata gradina" park and next to the old TV Tower :)
