16 Tech is a new development proposed by the City of Indianapolis under Mayor Ballard via Develop Indy. It encompasses a multi-block area near 16th Street, Indiana Avenue, White River, and Fall Creek.

It is described as "a progressive certified technology district strategically located at the center of Indiana’s life sciences and technology sectors, within walking distance to the nation’s second largest medical school and adjacent to a nexus of internationally recognized academic institutions focused on research, collaboration and discovery."

It includes:

Bush Stadium Redevelopment: "a $22 million housing development that transforms the historic Bush Stadium baseball park into loft apartments that retains the stadium façade, lighting and baseball park feel. Complementary mixed-use and research facilities are also available on the 15 acre site."

Helix Park: "6 Tech’s modern central park runs parallel to Indiana Avenue and provides a central public space designed to incorporate sustainable storm water management, pedestrian spaces, public art and attractive frontages for planned development."

Indiana Avenue Streetscape:
"The project’s first public improvement phase includes the development of the Technology Trail, designed to expand pedestrian zones and reduce vehicular lanes. The project integrates street trees, ground level plantings, public art and new lighting. Complementary multi-modal system improvements include enhancements to the White River Trail and bike lanes along Waterway Boulevard."

Is bush stadium under construction now?

I don't think so. I use a commercial printer nearby and didn't see any activity on Friday when I picked up some prints.

I thought funding was secured already. Think I read it in IBJ a few months ago, perhaps I was mistaken.

I think you're right, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're ready to start construction. :) They outlined a timeline at the big final stadium tour media event a few months ago but I can't remember what was said. I'll see if I can find out.
