I start today a series of Tokyo-devoted threads with the hundreds of pics I have taken in the last month. In the next few weeks / months I will continue posting new installments, but please be patient :P Enjoy.
汐留 SHIODOME
Note: I took these pictures in different days.
I wonder if anywhere else in the world there is a complex with 12 towers over 100m/328ft of this astounding QUALITY, which have mushroomed in such a short period of time (all of them completed between 2002 and 2005). A new awesome skyline from scratch built on a former freight station.
I’ll start with some general views of the area
Shiodome Sio-site high-rise complex from the Tokyo tower 150m observatory.

The white structure you see is the Rainbow bridge connecting Minato-ku to Odaiba island, one of the tens of manmade islands in Tokyo bay. Hey, that’s me :D

This is what you see coming back from Odaiba island by the yurikamome line, an elevated unmanned train which offers excellent opportunities to take great pics of Tokyo waterfront area, especially since you can seat at the very front of the train.

Shiodome Sio-site includes a Yurikamome line and a metro line station. It is a multi-level complex with large, spotless walkways linking the skyscrapers each other and to these stations.

A bookshop in these underground walkways. The Japanese love reading, every single supermarket / convenient store in this country has a section with papers, magazines and mangas. Major bookstores like Taiseido, Book 1st or Kinokuniya have huge 7, 8 or 9 floor buildings offering every kind of reading stuff.
