Love that curling style at the top with the section that looks like a gap. Great building.

This building is generally highly praised, but I always found it to be ugly. Yeah yeah it helped change the direction of architecture, etc., but it's really just a modernist box with a weird crown borrowed from a piece of furniture. The colour is terrible too. Imagine a city full of buildings of that colour - yuck! I give it 6/10, and only so high because of its architectual significance.

eh, looks like our Days Inn hotel, which is not a pretty site.

Yes it is a architecturally significant building, but it's too plain and the crown isn't actually very good.

I only like the top part with the big glass windows. The rest of it is drab.

Ugh. How could the same architect who designed One PPG design this piece of crap at the same time? Maybe Johnson had some phone bill problems and wanted to take it out on AT&T the best way he could.

What was it some NY architecture critic said it looked like? A chippendale highboy with windows? Perfect description.

2, extra point because it was significant, at least.

yeah, I was wondering that too. I guess thats not one of Johnson's favorites either.

Take the top off and you have nothing but a box... a very simple, uninspired box. They could re-use the top in a park as skateboard park. If it were in most any other city it would leave quite the impression, though ->6/10

I remember the buzz surrounding this building before it was even built....any building that can put the architectural world on it's ear like that get's points from me.

Whether you like the pomo movement or not...this one is probably the most significant example there is. Ya can't say it doesn't have pedigree. It's details were perfectly executed despite the naysayers.

The fact there really is no street vantage-point to actually appreciate the building in it's entirety, is either a plus or minus, depending on your opinion LOL!!!

It was an instant classic, and as a representative of it's style, I have no choice but to give it a perfect 10/10.

Dude, it's a Pomo gem. I give it an 8/10 for helping us break out of the box, making it onto the cover of TIME, and taking a relatively low height and making an impression on the skyline. However, I would give it more if it had more street-level impact. Standing at the base, you get no sense of the greatness of the building, since its most important feature is the roofline.

3/10 I seem to remember liking this building more 15 years ago. It's really quite ugly. PPG Place is much better than this. It's a box with an ugly top and an ugly color.

9/10 One of the best postmodern buildings in NYC! It would get a 10 if there were more windows all the way down to the base, but I really like it
