Is the next step in Toronto's condo boom going to be "star" architects, to be the advantage developers are going to use to make themselves stand out from the competition?
There's already Stern doing a nice building, and a couple of already existing Arthur Erickson condos...not to mention some fine buildings from excellent hometown architects (aA).
An excerpt from a column in today's Star.....

The ROM won't be complete until late 2005 or early '06, but already Libeskind hopes to find more work in the city.
"I'd love to do a condo," he says, grinning but not joking. "Good projects don't have to involve more money. You can do something really exciting with even the most limited budget. Why should that make a building any less interesting? It's all about creating new possibilities."
And what about the ROM? "As construction progresses, it's becoming very exciting," he says. "You're beginning to see a whole other presence. It's also very needed on that corner.
"Frank Gehry was in my office recently and we were saying how fantastic it was that we're both working in Toronto. I think the city is to be commended that so much is happening here, and on a scale that's urban."
Nice words, but when Libeskind gets his condo project going, we really will have something to celebrate.

Well...will any developers step up to the plate?
