Oh btw, is that a blue glass on top of that sandstone clocktower building?

yes, would be nice for a dip.
You can also see straight down into GPO foyer.
Martin place has strict shadow lasw to allow sunlght, thus the lowrise either side of m place.

I wish they would put some kind of architectural feature (designed by Harry himself, of course :-) to cover up all the crap on top of MLC. A 7m high plant room taking the height up to 235m would do nicely.

whats all that roadworks in the middle of the mall ?
MLC looks quite good, is that plant room thing on top counted in the current height or isn't it big enough to count.

Holy mackarel check out MLC from that angle! Vertigo to the max!

Martin Place is special and is what I would regard as the finest financial precint in Australia. The wide pedestrian mall paced with black granite is pure class, add the 10 or so subway access points, the mix between Art Deco, Classical and modernist architecture, a few bank HQ's (Commonwealth and Reserve Bank), that awesome Matrix fountain and now the Channel 7 studios all add up to create something quite spectacular. All that needs to happen is for the ASX to move from Bridge St to Martin Place and that would be the ultimate.

It is an amazing place during a workday when it is buzzing with business people, but it is even more amazing on a Sunday evening when there is nobody there. It is a rather surreal experience walking through there on a Sunday evening.

oops-dan, yeah probably more like .5mg lol
christarant- yes that was just a refurb done a few years back to update that part of mall. The plantoom reaches 228m and air con units reach 231m high but are only temp structures so not counted in height. the 4 antennea reach 244m.
groll0- yeah its pretty ugly up there. its sort of grown over the years. back in 1970's it was just a simple plantroom with 4 antenna.
matixvolt- that resi tower (The ASTON) is one of many 300fters/92m towers that are hidden throughout the CBD.The pool deck is set at 60m high due to shadow access down to martin place. thats why tower is set east .

What a superb find.

Where and how do you reckon they shot such a pic....from a plane or further up 'n out?
