I dont like it when skyline is dominated by residentials.
But apart from that all i can say is "Go Klaipeda!" :)
John
November 10th, 2004, 02:23 PM
The good thing about Klaipeda is that most of those residentials will not appear as ones i.e. you can't jusge their purpose by their looks (like it is in Vilnius in most cases) what is a very positive thing.

John
November 10th, 2004, 06:13 PM
14 known high-rise projects are currently being developed in Klaipeda (12 of which are 20 floors or higher).
Btw, there is a residential project of two 20 storey towers but we don't know much about it and no renderings. If this is a real project as well, Klaipeda's high-rise project number is rising to 16.
Well I'm trying to believe this but it looks impossible :ohno:

Anyway, this list sounds too good to be true! :D
It's nearly 200,000.
But I agree, it sounds abit too good to be truth.
Despite the fact that all those projects are either approved or close to it (they are all real projects, with investors who have necessary funds and detailed plans for their land plots with announced dates of construction, etc.). All I'm afraid is that if some project would not be very successful (f.e. they wouldn't be able to sell all apartments in one of the towers), other projects might be stopped :ohno:.
But I hope this is just my bad imagination :)

Talking about more highrises, soon Norvegian company "Niels thorp" should present the project for the business and entertainment complex instead of the "Klaipeda ship repair" company, a lot of money should be invested, and highrises are expected.
And one more, some American company some time ago bought a bancrupted company "Trinyciai", and they are talking about residentials (factory on the left):

News today:
"Invalda real estate" will invest about 40mln euros into a new residential complex instead of the "Trinyciai" company. They will orient to young families and etc., so it wount be expensive and luxurious. It shoul be about 1000 new flats.

The two 33fl.(not 30fl. as we though) twind will be reduced in height because of the old town that is very near. They will built 3 18-24. residentials.

"Trinyciai" residential district may have just one highrise, it will be a 18 floorer :(
Bad news: The two 16fl. office twins in the Vite quarter may be reduced to 10 floors :(

It's stupid to count spires. It's possible to build 12 floor commieblock and attach to it 100 meter spire - then it would become the tallest building in the Baltics? - No, I don't think so. :D
I think that you can't have floors inside spires or antennas or anything similar ;) , so they should not be counted. But if someone wants to count them then we'll count ET with it too. :)
Edd

As you can see - it was planned at the begining, only at first it looked better imo and in later plans it looks as it is now - imo worse. The purpose of it is unknown. We don't know if it only "decorates" tower or is used as antenna or smth.

the spire on Tartu mnt 15 will be considerably larger... its supposed to make a slimmer look for a building... so it has a architectural purpous :)... i know its cheesy.. (doesnt give me the full satisfaction of beating vilnius... but it does the trick - just like Radisson...)

We don't know it, so you don't know it for sure. But if you'll want we'll learn about it (I have not heard that it is used as antenna so there is big posibility that it isn't).
It's your choice, for you commieblock with 12 floors and 100 meter spire can be 140 floor skyscraper and for me it'll be only 40m. commieblock. :D
Edd
May 13th, 2005, 09:01 PM
@ch1le: Read carefully the official page of company who built ET: http://www.hanner.lt/En/obj/12_ig.html
We knew it a long time ago but we didn't count it and we always said that ET is 129m tall (not 148,30 m) but if you want it - you can think of ET as 148,30 m tall tower but imo it's stupid.

The developer i think is "Elektromarkt" and the scrapers should be built next to theyr shop and form a complex or something like that.
Here`s an old article in lithuanian:
Taikos pr. 58 – toks bus naujojo pastatų komplekso adresas.
