Maynilad Water Complex Proposal / HartnessVision (http://www.archdaily.com/193983/maynilad-water-complex-proposal-hartnessvision/#more-193983)

Located in front of Manila City Hall, the proposed project by HartnessVision integrates ‘water branding’ into the architecture of this Maynilad customer facility. The site is organized around 3 programmed axes (nature, access, amenities) in which pedestrians have priority. The expression of water-channeling and healthy clean water resources play important roles in their concept.

The new roof configuration allows for water collection and retention as well as climate control. When it rains the buildings become playful interactive sculptures. All-glass enclosures mark access points and provide infrastructure for cooling thermal chimneys.

Architects: HartnessVision
Location: Manila, Philippines
Client (competition): Maynilad
Technical / Estimation: Crimson Group

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is the water and wastewater services provider for the 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the greater Metro Manila area.

In 1997, the company was granted a 25-year exclusive concession by the Philippine Government, through the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), to operate, maintain and invest in the water and sewerage system in Caloocan, Las Piñas, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Parañaque, Valenzuela, parts of Quezon City, a part of Makati, Cavite City, and the municipalities of Rosario, Imus, Noveleta, Bacoor, and Kawit in Cavite.

Maynilad went through a change of ownership on January 24, 2007, with the consortium of DMCI Holdings, Inc. (DMCI) and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) winning 84% of the water company’s shares in a public bidding.

Nice project!!!

This Maynilad project should be integrated with the proposals to reinvigorate the whole Plaza Lawton area that includes the adaptive reuse of the Old Post office building into a new hotel and the rehabilitation of the Metropolitan theater to name a few.

I hope this will materialize... Gagamitin ko yun laging slogan ni mayor atienza, " Buhayin ang Maynila...

I think Maynilad is part of MVP's huge conglomerate that includes industry giants Smart and Meralco, so funding is not an issue.

Nice, dun pala location nito. Magiging maayos na ang central station.

Matanong ko lang, is CENTRAL STATION is still the same as 7 years ago? Pwede siyang gawin na parang Ayala Station.

The greeneries of this project will be a fantastic addition to the greens of Mehan Gardens and Arroceros Forest Park. What a rejuvenating design!
