Electronics City is an upcoming Special Economic Zone targeting electronics hardware manufacturing and Software and Information Technology Enabled Services, promoted by NeST group head quartered at Cochin, India. The 2 Million Sq. Ft. SEZ will be built over a land area of 30 acres (12.1 ha) at KINFRA Park, Kalamassery, at a cost of Rs 2500 Crores.

The project also contains a non processing area of 1.5 million Sq.ft occupying shopping mall space with multiplex, world class exhibition and convention centre, five star hotel apartments, commercial office spaces and residential condominiums.

The project is expected to provide employment to 10,000 professionals directly, including 5,000 engineers, and many more indirectly. The first phase of the project, is planned to be operational by Dec 2012. Several well-known MNCs have expressed their willingness to start manufacturing units in the electronics city.
The entire work of the City and allied residential and commercial complex is undertaken by Nest Infratech, the construction company of Nest group.

Anyone near Kalamassery or Kakkanad can easily get updates of this project. The location is the KINFRA park, near to HMT.

Any latest updates on this project? Actually this is one of the projects where something is happening in Kochi? I heard that this will become operational early 2013. Iam surprised that there was no mention of Nest Group at all in Emerging Kerala. Nest is one of the major industrial players in Kochi.

Just a reminder if anyone could check the status of this. This is a very important project as far as Kochi is considered. It will create more employment opportunities in Electronics sector

AFAIK, There is nothing much happening with this project.

Asianet or Manorama has reported a series of project happening in the Kalamassery-HMT land like Cybercity,NEST,Diamond park,BHEL...etc

They have reported like Nest is taking back with the project as they releasing out all the construction equipments from the location.


If any have seen this news pls comment on this.

Cybercity land should be taken back by HMT or GOK. As Achu mama says "Evar Bhoomafia ayaanu". Feels like he is correct to some extend in case of Cyber city and smart city.

But i really wish all these projects should come out with the real value and potential.:cheers:

But construction is already halfway? Can this be done? So what will they do with the portion which they already constructed?
