UnitedPakistan November 26th, 2005, 04:46 AM Yeah i went back to some of our old threads and i must say our quality has decreased.
And yes this has a lot to do with the thread because i am complimenting the effort. So no more disscussion on that.
swerveut November 26th, 2005, 05:09 AM Yeah i went back to some of our old threads and i must say our quality has decreased
Does anybody know what you are talking about?
UnitedPakistan November 26th, 2005, 07:01 AM The post is really self explanatory!
Its true go back to some of the old threads and you can see for yourself.
swerveut November 26th, 2005, 08:06 PM If you want to discuss participation and quality of threads, I dont think this is the right thread to do so. Being a Mod, you should have known this better instead of me telling you this.
affendi December 9th, 2005, 11:11 PM abbotabad was not harmed in the earthquake. only a few buildings actually crumbled.
merijanpakistan January 9th, 2006, 09:08 AM Salam,
I am trying to find pictures of Abbottabad - my original hometown and a tourist spot - and putting it here for members to see how beautiful and peaceful some cities of Pakistan are.
Some pictures have already been posted. If any body finds a picture of Abbottabad that have not been posted, PLEASE POST IT HERE. It would be a great collection.
SPONSOR PICTURES:
Moreover, if anybody is going to Abbottabad or that side recently, i would love for you to get a lot of pictures of this beautiful valley. I would wanna know how much does it cost in Pakistan to develop pictures on a camera. I am willing to finance developing 10-1000 pictures of Abbottabad + basic expenses of a moderate trip to Abbottabad, (if the cost of developing per picture is not too much.) I would really love some good pictures of Abbottabad. ($$ is going to have to be in U.S dollars, since i dont have any rupree account.)
Peace.
asfar January 9th, 2006, 10:53 AM ill post some pictures soon...infact ill take all the pictures once we have a good number from here and post them in the cityscapes and skyline photo threrad too :)
merijanpakistan January 10th, 2006, 08:54 AM Salam,

:) Thats cool. I know Kakul Road... lived on it for 2 years. Our ancestorial houses are in Kunj Ground area. Our own house in on Pine View Road. It has been empty for years now....! :)
Dad was posted in Abbottabad (our hometown :) ) twice in a row... from 1990- ~1996. I came to America earlier and the house remained empty...!
My life story..... :) (on the net now...)
Regarding your father's stay there, i think FF Center up there is beautiful. The Mess is huge and very sophisticatedly British. I am pretty sure you guys enjoyed your stay there...! I am a Hallian from 4th. Too bad couldn't go there from Prep.
Very nice to know you,
Peace.

zees March 9th, 2006, 07:00 AM Cantonment area of Abbottabad is still very British. The European bungalows, the club, the church and cemetery are still there. Abbottabad is an hour's drive from Nathia Gali, the summer capital of the NWFP, which is from Nathia Gali to Abbottabad is about 34 km dropping steeply through the beautiful valleys with few trees to the river bed.

Yaar, blame the PTDC morons who tried to get me from Saidu Sharif to Shogran in one day!
And that too with the knowledge that the bridge near shogran was knocked out. They didnt even notify me!:bash:
We were lucky that the FWO got working and they let us cross even though it was supposed to be opened the next day.
We were the first ones accross though:banana:

merijanpakistan February 1st, 2007, 04:53 AM Salam,
Red aRRow, you are right.... u know FF Mess at Abbottabad is one of the most beautiful landmarks of British era... and the ammount of effort and money that has been put into restoring it is appreciable. I was there when they were doing it. The Brigadier's house is right next door to it, so he made sure every thing is done "perfectly". It has been preserved in its originality.
Seld Edited: under Garbage Control Act.

Zain sahib, do you remember the pictures that you took atop "shimla pahari". The road that goes to that spot... Pine View road is where my place is. :) Its a beautiful area to get a land and build something.... full of pine trees... but a bit expensive I heard, from the rest of the city. The area next to PMA Kakul - Jinnahabad - is also an excellent place to build a house.... a good planning for a hilly area. Zain sahib, many many X-army officers buy land at Abbottabad and settle there permanently... remembering their old days. Its one of the specialities of the city.
Peace.
I am sure it is going to cost me a crap load but the city is amazing. One of my favorite cities in Pakistan.:)
Seriously, when I was coming home from Balakot, we needed to make a stop in Abbottabad for dinner before we went out for the late night journey to Ayubia. As soon as we got into Abbottabad the place just gave me these great vibes and it felt like I was just somewhere new. A heard that Ayub tried to build the capital in Abottabad but the locals would not give the land for it.
