Mouths are wagging over the discovery of oil in east Africa. The loudest are the pessimists who predict doom “like everywhere else.” But is the discovery of oil, necessarily a bane, a curse to be feared? This article argues that oil is a boon and east Africa has the wherewithal to harness this resource for the good of the region.

Interesting!

leave that stupid, first he does not know the rules of this forum to post his blog link and second he demonstrates his Kenyan arrogance by misrepresentation of facts as usual, saying Tanzania's "donor dependence has just passed 50%" while he can easily get the percentage if he is serious of what he is writing donor dependence is 33% at the moment! And Kenya's dependence is not 6% as he claims but instead of calling Budget Support they changed the name to development aid! Let them get excited of reserves that have not been proven whether r commercial viable!

Actually Kenya's donor dependence is 3% while Tanzani's is 46% that was a report I read last week. I will post the link. I also don't get why he keeps posting his blog everywhere.

make sure u don't post reports from ur Kenyan biased media! Meanwhile check here (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-05-16/tanzania-aims-to-cut-donor-dependence-to-10-by-2015-the-guardian-reports.html) to suit urself! Never knew it has dropped again to that lowest but steady level!

Someone with a clear knowledge of what foreign aid is needs to talk because I think you condemn Tanzania for receiving couple of millions while Egypt receives 2 billion$$ every year from USA and its not listed as donor dependant. I am not sure of the details of foreign aid till when I do my research..I will post more in the near future.
