View Full Version : VOTE: Best looking Commercial Skyscraper in Mumbai
ubermeow April 5th, 2012, 06:50 PM Mumbai has more path breaking residential skyscrapers under development than commercial ones. However a few commercial projects have really cornered the attention for their form and beauty. I have selected a few of the newer ones' for you to make the choice.

TutConr April 6th, 2012, 06:05 AM Kohinoor Square. Looks amazing at night in the renders. :D. Also, the cladding is amazing.

koolicon April 6th, 2012, 06:50 AM none of the above!
Thapar house in prabhadevi is almost a decade old, but if u ask me, is still most iconic commercial structure
Another one is the Oberoi building in goregaon which houses the Westin in the top half of the building

Strictly speaking Thapar House at 75 mts does not qualify as a skyscraper; besides as you yourself said it is more than a decade old now. Regarding the oberoi project, it is located in the suburbs and does not add to the "cluster" impact. As of now it is a standalone project with no competition, but no doubt it would be a very popular building if it was a part of the poll.
I have chosen skyscrapers of atleast 125 meters and above, and those which have come up recently or are going to be completed in the near future. Also, all these towers can be put together in the same frame to give a distinctive edge to the Mumbai skyline.

Sorry didn't get the point of stand alone V/s cluster or "suburb" or Decade old
are the Ruby, or sunshine cluster? i assume they are stand alone
Distant suburb of goregaon and the area around the westin has 10-12 skyscrapers right around it, and many more on the way
Decade old is the plus point, isn't it sad, the new ones have no iconic value to them?
Of all the ones under construction, only Namaste Tower, has some iconic value which will make it stand out

A bit strange to hear this - threads of these projects are updated on a daily basis almost. These are some of the most anticipated projects and anybody who visits the Mumbai section, does not miss these. Anyways, everybody is welcome to contribute to this thread as we all do in the other threads too. There is no restriction here, I don't own this space - I am just a facilitator and contributor like you all.

Okay here it goes:
1) This is vote for Commercial Towers only - Oberoi Commerz is still a standalone building because the rest of the towers in its viscinity are residential ones'. Since, these projects share the same skyline of Central mumbai areas, they form a cluster of skyscrapers - therefore making the comparison easier.
2) Namaste Tower has not yet taken shape (no structure, no glazing) - hence we cannot vote just on the basis of the renders. The projects in this thread are in a well defined stage.
3) Thapar house is a midrise, and there are several midrises that are iconic but cannot be included due to their heights or lack of it. Peninsula Business Park, The Egg at BKC readily come to mind.
devendra1 April 6th, 2012, 11:14 AM what about seth bumonede triplets ?
ubermeow April 6th, 2012, 11:19 AM what about seth bumonede triplets ?
Residential, not commercial.
I will sort out the confusion by starting two more threads for respectively RESIDENTIAL and HOTELS/MIXED USE Skyscrapers
ubermeow April 9th, 2012, 09:21 PM Good going KSQ. But it's a bit strange that in a city as big and important as Mumbai, you have 1 commercial skyscraper u/c for every 25 residential one's. The equation is however better in Thane/Navi Mumbai. My only wish is if we could have a dedicated hub for commercial/financial skyscrapers, rather than the disparate location of the current projects.
Cov Boy April 12th, 2012, 11:33 AM Ruby for me!
The blue glass exterior is unique for the city.
