CULWULLA November 11th, 2004, 02:06 PM very good work. Im actually a professional model maker for Sydney city council. Ive made many hundreds of models over the years. Im in charge of the 1;500 scale model of the CBD for past 17 years.I started making models of cities out of cardboard when i was young,. but now use timber and plastics.cardboard models tend to have a short life. i love making larger scale models with windows and i add a small light inside and to show it lite up at night.my fav styles are gothic and art deco scrapers. Years ago i made a 60storey scale model (3ft high) and placed it over a garden light and it looked great at night due to the windows cut out all way up.
ill post some pix of models.
DamienK November 11th, 2004, 03:11 PM Culwulla, you have a challenger. lol. What building was your 60 storey scale model of? I am guessing MLC, since that's about 60 stories.
CULWULLA November 12th, 2004, 12:55 AM yes it was MLC. lol

STR November 12th, 2004, 03:47 AM Thanks y'all. I will be releasing all of my models in the "My Skyline" forum. I started with the Sears Tower, and am now working on the World Trade Center. As you can see below, these will be at a larger scale. Did I mention all of the models above were to scale? Well...they are. 2.5 feet per pixel. My new models are at 50cm per pixel, or about 50% larger scale.

Excellent
STR November 22nd, 2004, 05:36 PM Amazing!!!!!! Can you post AON, ONU and Bank of China?
I will post each tower as I finish them at the new scale. I will post the Bank of China sometime this week. Then the Jin Mao building next, then the CNA building in Chicago, then the Aon Center. I also have MetLife (PanAm) and Empire State on the short list. I will post other small, simple buildings, like CNA -- to contrast the taller, more complex models -- between the major models.

matchboxND December 25th, 2004, 06:08 AM Hello!
I just discovered this great forum. Since a child I was always fascinated by skyscrapers and enjoy the card models that you generously offere here
The reason I'm posting here is to ask you if the other buildings are available for modeling. So far in the past week I have completed the World Trade Center, Sears Tower, Trump Tower, Bank of China, Aon Center & CNA.
I would love to build the others pictured here, and the others you mention (Met Life, Petronis, etc).
Thanks again; they are great!

STR January 4th, 2005, 03:53 AM All my models can be found in my signiture. The models in the pic at the top of this thread are half the size of the one's I've posted, and much harder to fold. All those models will eventually be available, bigger and better, at this site. Just check the link in my signiture every week or so, and you'll usually find something new. Also, don't forget to check out the request thread. You can make your own request, or just check out the pics. That thread has become a gallery of the some of the best hirise architecture on the planet.
