You mean Boundary Rd? Do they live near the PNE area, because that is a residential area as well.

It's almost like a mother who nurses her baby, but doing so when she doesn't have enough milk. So she has to go to the store to buy it like Gerber's or....well what is that brand? It's sort of soy stuff, Simelac. Actually it may not be soy but some sort of a goat milk product, or something. ANYWAY, ok I am scrapping my previous example and staeting over. O.K., it's like cows in the field of grass which has been eaten a lot, so they sort of spread out to get at the places where it's growing, sort of.
Stuff seems so tiny and spread out, yet still cool!
I give it an 8, but I will rate it a 9.

Burnaby is beautiful with its numerous parks, hilly landscape, etc...SFU is amazing, especially with Univercity coming up. If i dont get into UBC, SFU will do just fine:) (then, i get to live in Burnaby)

6/10 I wish that there were closer pics of Burnaby.

Well, the closer you get, the worse it looks because the skyline is so stretched in one direction that you wont be able to get it all in. These are the best views right here.

You were probably thinking of the Vancouver CBD. Burnaby is good though I give it an 8.

It kind of is. I wouldn't quite call it a suburb myself, takes only 15-20 mins by Skytrain from the heart of the city.

It looks more impressive from far away than up close. Upon closer inspection, it is easy to see how spread out it is. But it is a suburb, and has a decent skyline for one. I'll give it an 8

The pictures on this thread only show the Metrotown area. There are three other built up areas in Burnaby that all have significant and expanding skylines.

Gorgeous scenery, but there's little amazing about 30 storey condo towers. Amazing means extraordinary.

Reminds me of Chatswood. I think I have said that about this city before, but I am not sure.

Doesn't seem like there is any imagination or attempt to create something special. At this point, it just looks like a bunch of randomly placed condos, which it is. If that's what people find great, then I'd say they have some pretty low expectations for skylines. Burnaby-Metrotown could one day become something special, but that day isn't now.

True but how many cities with 200k people, let alone a suburb, have skylines as impressive as that? The architecture is bland at best and compared to a typical downtown it is somewhat scattered but for the category of North American suburban skyline it is pretty amazing in relative terms.

Yea, if you put it into a category with only suburban skylines of North America, its impressive I guess. But most people don't rate on relative terms do they? I personally wouldn't give points, just because a city decided to build up. Why is anything with height so often given high marks, no matter how butt ugly it may be? Not that Metrotown is ugly, its plain.

I'm sure not all but I certainly do and clearly I'm not alone. It would seem pretty pointless having a sub-forum ranking skylines if you didn't consider relative terms, otherwise why the hell would anybody bother even making threads about places like Burnaby if they knew everybody was going to rank it in absolute terms. Obviously it would get a zero from everybody in that case as there are easily 10 more impressive skylines in the world than Burnaby's. You could say the same about a lot of legitimate city skylines.

funny i was getting the same effect the other day when it was cloudy out but from metrotown facing north. brentwood is really filling out.
