my favs are
office tower- CHIFLEY
reason- Chifley optimises my fav period of architecture -romantic 1930;s NYC style
Ive always liked towers with massive bases and slowly tapers as it risee and terninates with spire.

ive fixed alot of the building heights in your list. remember skyscraperpage has nmany errors. ss.com is the one to go off. thats got the stats ive contributed. there deadly accurate. ssp really needs to be updated.
The latitude tower is out of date and 2m to low. especially the plantroom.
Aurora pl is 219m not 222m.
grosvenor place has a 10m tower ontop.
cheers

Chifley for me. It's a real masterpiece.
Aurora Place is my second fav. Unbelievably beautiful modern architecture.

AAPT Centre gets my vote. I was initially going to vote for Aurora or GPT - but then I figured that AAPT is really a very impressive structure and probably doesn't get enough attention paid to it! It's so 80s, and so Sydney. In many ways I prefer it to the later, flashier architecture of GPT, Aurora or Chifley.

Many thanks for patching that up Culwulla :)
I love the Chifley Tower, it very much reminds me of what you said. A romantic NewYork city scraper especially love it in the morning driving up liverpool st. towards oxford hyde park the tower is the prettiest site from that angle. I must admit it was a difficult choice between the World Tower & Chifley, I really like the World Tower.
Looks Industrial/Modern and ever so tall where it sits. Best part about those features it's residential. At night the blue light up roof looks awesome, especially when it's cloudy as it lights up the sky.

World Tower possibly the best modern looking residential highrise.

some MLC pics for the person who voted the MLC. The MLC used to be the worlds tallest concrete structure and Australia's tallest scraper till 1985.

Governor Phillip Tower.
A simple classic design that has an amazing facade which captures light beautifully. It changes colours thoughout the day and best of all this building reflects silver on grey cloudy days. The crown on grey stormy days is a sight to behold and is the cincher for me.
Aurora is second.

Fav Chifley simply becuase it is my fav style (art deco). Although Aurora is very close and looks very very cool (made of plastic or something). But really i see BT also becoming my fav. So i guess there all good in the styles that they are designed in. Except not a real big fan of MLC although it is growing on me

only the tallest series above 180+m Umm.. how can you not like any of them? they're great / world class High-Rises!
I do like that building and it used to be my favourite many years back. I distinctively remember the modern angle of the building and the National Bank advertising on it.

They are mostly disgusting, don't get me started on GPT it is the biggest blight on Sydney's landscape and one of my most maligned towers.
Not one of them is purely reflective hardly any of them have the glorious and showy corporate aesthetic. DULL, DULL, DULL!
Chifley is acceptable but a little disjointed.
AAPT would be better encased in glass to hide the boring concrete then it might actually be quite cool.
WT is disjointed and disgusting, no fusion of form, dank colour and above all not Sydney centric far too cold and calculating for a brash and upbeat city.
I guess latitude has marginal charisma and its only due to the glass... the bulk is not that great, I'd rather have seen height and less bulk, no spire and a more fillin summit. It's saving grace is the Gold refective glass retail podium.
Aurora is trying too hard to be fashionable and makes a mockery of its position, it's arrangement within context inappropriate IMO.
All of Sydney tall buildings in this list with the exception of Aurora are boring and conservative, dull even. I don't know why you would call them world class, more like Australian crap.

Oh I love Chifley too - it is the only truly luxurious one - almost ostentatious! lol Love the marble - exteriors and interiors are equally impressive! I know the cost was extremely high at the end of the day but it was worth it! Good on ya Mr Bond - that was such a glorious idea (and I am glad we have '41' atop of it now (my fav) rather than the 'Bond Sky Penthouse' lol). I love old NY style of skyscraper architecture - well done KPF, we need more of this high class in the CBD!
And yeah I also agree - the World Tower is the best residential ever, you really have something to look at from the bottom to the top! lol Very dramatic architecture - I am glad Harry lost that comp! lol I also love the pool on the level 60 - that's my fav spot to swim in town (better than Bondi lol).
Oh, are we going to see anything to match (if not surpass) these two icons in our lifetime??? I hope so but the wait could be quite long! lol

1. Chifley - very classy and intersting
2. Aurora - beautiful modern achitecture
3. World Tower - tall modern achitecture yet in a robotic kind of way (that make sense?)

GPT for me, particularly for it's crown including the blades. The overhanging blades at the bottom are also an impressive feature. I recently inspected it's foyer and it's fairly ope and elegant.
Aurora Place would be next followed by Grosvenor Place.

1. Chifley, followed by Governor Phillip and then World Tower. I like the creamy textured punched window facade facing the city, and the curved glass curtain wall facing the park. The whole composition is pleasing.

I don't like chifley.... It tries to be art-deco, but doesn't quite get there... It's too modernist and 80's...
I guess I'm just so much of an art-deco fan that I have have VERY high expectations of any tower that is going to try and emulate the art-deco style.

Why is Gateway Plaza not on that list?? It should be best Sydney skyscrapers 160m+ so I could select Gateway.
It is BY FAR Sydney's best skyscraper. Nothing can compete against it's sharp angular corners and it's smooth, clean glazing reflective blue glass.

It's beauty will always shine above all.
And I bet you never knew this but: Gateway Plaza will ALWAYS be the same colour as the harbour.
My first favourite is Gateway but second would have to be GPT. But I will not vote GPT as it is not my favourite.

Aurora. Definitely. I don't know what it is, the design being a distant echo of the opera house, the finish, but it's almost sexual that building. And the way it tapers outwards towards the top reminds me of a muslced swimmer's body with a small waist, nice back and broad shoulders. Hot!

Last week I took a guest visiting from Spain for a walk around town & we had a breather on a bench in Farren Place. As we got up to walk he looked up @ The Governor buildings and said how great the were. Apart from noticing the Brit influence in some of our buildings from the 1800s around Pitt St Mall, he hadnīt commented much on the architecture up until then.

To tell you the truth I'm not head over heels for any of the towers mentioned in the poll.
I collectively like the towers when they sit in the skyline, however in isolation I either find them a bit boring or not brilliantly beautiful - a bit like Eva Longoria IMO. ;)
They're definately not ugly pigs , ala Amy Winehouse. :(
However nothing that I'm in love with, ala Jennifer Hawkins. :)
Of all of the 500 footers in the CBD I love BT tower the most. :)
So where are the Jennifer Hawkins towers in Aust ?
Melbourne mainly >
120 Collins :)
Eureka ( but not from the skinny north/south angle ) :)
and Rialto :)
