Ascott to build 2 more service apartments in Philippines
The Ascott Ltd has topped off its latest development in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), as the world’s largest international service residence owner-operator positions itself to take advantage of the influx of business travellers in the Philippines.
Arthur Gindap, Ascott regional manager general manager for the Philippines and Thailand, said the service residence operator is set to open the P1-billion Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila, the second in the Philippines, in the first quarter of 2014.
Gindap noted that the Philippines’ improving credit rating has spurred the influx of businesses into the country, which can only benefit BGC, a fast-growing business and lifestyle hub that serves as “an alternative central business district or extension of Makati City.”
Ascott is bullish on Southeast Asia, particularly on the Philippines, with two more properties set to rise in the country: Citadines Salcedo Makati in 2014 and Citadines Millenium Ortigas Manila in 2015. A new Ascott project will rise outside Makati, but Gindap refused to disclose details.

Ascott building more property projects in PH
By Othel V. Campos | Manila Standard Today | Posted on Aug. 16, 2013 at 12:01am
International serviced residences operator The Ascott Limited said it plans to build more properties in other parts of the Philippines.
“We can do more [than just 10 properties], because we have a great story. Our brands are proven to get good business in times of crisis, when everybody else are on the brink of distress or closing down,” Ascott regional general manager for Philippines and Thailand Arthur Gindap told reporters in a news briefing Thursday.
Gindap said the company was looking at Metro Cebu as the first possible site for expansion outside Metro Manila. It is also looking at the reclaimed portion of Manila Bay as a new site.
The company is set to open Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila and Citadines Salcedo Makati in 2014, Citadines Millennium Ortigas in 2015 and Somerset Alabang Manila in 2017.
“We are confident in the Philippines’ sustained economic growth and see tremendous potential for serviced residences. With our four upcoming properties, we will more than double this figure in the next four years,” said Gindap.
“This defines our bullishness in the Philippines. Our Philippine properties posted a total of P1.24 billion worth of combined revenues in 2012 with P758.8 million in profit. These figures drive us towards maintaining a bullish stand in the market as we push for more expansions within and outside of Metro Manila,” he said.
