I'm researching the Focus Building in Surfers, does any one have any information I can access which isn't online?

Contact the Gold Coast City Council Library. Their local history section should have information and resources to help you. Give them a phone call.

It always reminded me of a poor facsimile of Australia Square in Sydney.

I just see it as an apartment tower version of Australia Square. It is my favourite 'oldie' on the strip.

i recall a few years back this building was unstable and leaning or something which may be why the tower was renovated. i never researched it, but a friend of mine was telling me, might have even been 4 years ago.
if looking to buy there i wouldn't touch it haha.

It had a potential to become a major tourist drawcard!

Focus is one of my favourite buildings. Of all the older buildings, I think it's the best. Would be cool if it got a Soul-esque refurb. Recessed dark glass balconies. Ah, I can dream.

I remember when I was a kid ( about 10 ) in the late 70,s ( 79 -81 ) there was talk about the building being unstable and leaning. My father ( a builder ) used to talk about it sometimes.

Well, it is still there, still looks alright, and has not collapsed, so maybe the concerns were exaggerated.

Still would not buy a unit there however!

what's on the top level there? a pool? or just extra-high ceiling apartments.

big weight to counter balance the tower from leaning
