View Full Version : Malmö | Construction Map

LINK (http://g.co/maps/jbz5j)
Hey everyone! I'm not completely new to this forum since I have been following it quietly for almost a year. However, I haven't contributed much and hence I thought it was time to do so now. As I am not living in Malmö myself, I find it pretty hard to get an overview of where all these projects are being built, so I decided to create a construction map. As you can imagine though, my sense of the city is not the best and hence I need your help to complete it.
I therefore ask you guys to help me out by giving me the coordinates to the projects I haven't yet placed, as well as reminding me of which ones I have forgotten (and if I placed anything wrong from the beginning, let me know!)
I hope, once the map is complete, it will help all of us not living in Malmö to get a better grasp of what is going on in this beautiful city.
Added:
2012-05-03: Staff's highrise map, Limhamn, Emporia, several other projects in Hyllie

We have actually had a couple of these before. I had one Google Map for all the highrise projects in the city (along with a Google spreadsheet), but I haven't updated it in a couple of years though. The spreadsheet should be up to date however. And I know forumer Johan was also mapping all the projects, but I believe that one is also defunct.
Great initiative though. It will be a good way to get an overview of the different areas of the city, and very helpful for out of towners as well.
And lastly-- welcome to the forums! :cheers1:

BTW, are you from Malmö, felixnh?

I agree with that. However, it seems as though the only way to do that is by inviting people through email. If anyone know of another way of doing this, or opening it up completely to anyone person who's interested in helping out, I would be happy to change it. I'm going to look around and i'll come back to this topic as soon as I have a solution.
And lastly-- welcome to the forums! :cheers1:
Thanks! Im happy if I can help out a bit, since I've been enjoying this fora for quite some time. However, since I dont live in Sweden anymore, it's hard to contribute with any first hand information, so I'll try to do what I can from here! :)

If you want I could merge our maps as to fill them both out a bit. Don't know how many of the projects on your map that are still on the planning stage or U/C, or even cancelled, but if I'd merge them we could all help out in order to take the discontinued projects out of there at a later stage.
Nope, not from Malmö, however my 50% Scanian roots make my heart beat a little extra for the city. Plus, it's the most interesting city in Sweden when it comes to construction and city planning atm - hence my interest in it!

You're welcome to merge them (if that means exporting all the projects from my map to yours) if you want.
Glad you find the city and its projects interesting! I am also following the developments here from Melbourne. Pretty much all information is available online anyway so the 'only' thing we're missing out on is experiencing all these projects first hand.
Btw, I wonder if vBulletin has a feature for embedding Google Maps into forum threads. It would be great to have the map browsable in the first post.

That's exactly what it means ;). Ill do that, and if you guys could just take a little look at it later to make sure there's not a ton of old projects in there, that would be great!
And I agree, I tried to embedd it with normal HTML, but apparently that didnt work. But I'll see if I can fix it in any way!
felixnh May 3rd, 2012, 05:19 PM @Staff: I managed to merge your map with mine...
@everyone else: ... and I will continue to add projects throughout the week when I have time. It seems as though an invitation is needed to actually collaborate on the map, so for those willing to help out adding projects, I would need to send an invitation on email. Hence, for those interested in helping out, send me a PM with your email and I will invite you as well!
