Aarhus has not yet had a daily banner here at SSC, so I want to hear your opinion on sending one in? I have made four suggestions below to consider in the poll, but please if you have a better one (Especially a skyline pic with the rainbow) then please post them here and we can agree to use it or start a new poll.

Picture one! I think that that's the one that gives the best idea of what Aarhus is, i like the construction and harbour in one scene. Picture 4 just seems too unoriginal, such a picture exist of every large city in the world, and only the biggest offers something unique. Number two is nice too, but i'll stick with picture 1 :)

I go for picture 1 as well.

Harbour, construction and beautiful view over the sea, this is what Aarhus is about :)

Yeah, I know. It was the photo that banner number 4 is a part of that inspired me for this thread though. I could not get the image to fit the required dimensions but to my defense the larger photo is very original for Aarhus.

This thread is a very good idea, Asbjørn :) I've been thinking of making an Aarhus banner for some time, but maybe I'll give it a shot now and post them here. I have not voted yet in this poll...they are all so good looking, which makes it difficult to choose only one :cheers:

Did you shoot the pics yourself, and have all the originals, Asbjørn? I voted no. 1, but I would like to see it full size. I like it, but I must admit that it does in my opinion have to much "nothing" (just water and sky) in the left side. I also like no. 6 very much, but I agree with Galro, that it isn't good with church towers cut in half.

In general I think this thread will be much more interesting in just a few years, with all the construction going on in Aarhus, by the way! :)

Oh man, so many banners, so... well, you get my point :) Today SSC banners shows all kinds of angles from a city and not just the skyline, which makes it very difficult to choose the right on, IMO.

I have divided my banners into 3 categories: 'Skyline', 'People' and lastly 'Others'

Personally I like No. 6 from above.

Cool, thanks. It is a great photo, but I am not sure, it makes a good banner. I was hoping it could be cut differently.

@Babser, I totally agree. I've been trying to find one of the rainbow that can be cut to 719x123 pixels but I have had no luck. If you manage to cut a photo to the banner requirements then please post it/them here.

I think no 2 and 22 are a too close to really show the sculpture. If you know it already, you will understand it, but if you have never seen it before it you won't understand.

Goddamn this is difficult. I never thought this thread would become this interesting so thank you all for your contributions. First and foremost the banner should show a unique aspect of Aarhus and give people an interest of doing a Google search on Aarhus in order to learn more. The rainbow is IMO the best chance of that happening so it should be included in the banner.

Unfortunately we have to choose only one... I think my personal favourite is also number 28 but number 22, 27 and 32 are very close behind.

I've made my choice....number 28 really has is all. I guess the photographer from Aros shot the photo from the construction crane....From that angle it really is 'a once in a lifetime shot'

Do not worry. We will do a second vote in about a week's time, where I will choose ten candidates based on the number of votes in this first round of voting. So continue to post banners and continue to vote to make sure your favourite goes to the 2nd round of voting.

All is free to edit your initial post to reflect your preferred banner, which may have shifted after new banners were posted. Just make sure it happens before sometime this saturday. I will post a poll for the 2nd and final round after that.

Though if number 28 continues to get votes the way it do now we should save the trouble and go with number 28, but let us wait and see until saturday.
