Chairman emeritus Oscar M. Lopez (OML) and chairman Amb. Manuel M. Lopez (AMML) led the groundbreaking and lowering of a time capsule at the Lopez Group’s future headquarters at the Rockwell Center on April 26, 2012.
Present at the event were Rockwell Land president Nestor Padilla and other Lopez Group executives.
AMML, who also serves as chairman of Lopez Holdings Corporation and Rockwell Land, described the tower as another feather in the company’s cap. He noted that such a project enhances a company’s reputation and bolsters its track record for management and development.
In two years, all the Lopez companies will be housed in the 19-story Lopez Tower and Museum located close to the Ateneo Professional Schools, the Rockwell Club and Power Plant Mall, as well as the Makati central business district.
“Our staff and associates will enjoy working here in Rockwell Center, where you can literally cross the street to shop, or study, or work out, maybe get a massage, see a movie, or wine and dine afterhours. This is a premier community and the Lopez Group’s presence here will elevate its stature further,” AMML said.
OML noted that the Lopez Tower and Museum will have four pillars to represent the values of entrepreneurship, integrity, leadership and public service.
A two-story space has been set aside for the museum, which will display the collection of art it has amassed over the years.
Lopez Tower is expected to be completed by December 2014.

by Jenniffer B. Austria | Manila Standard Today | Monday | Posted May 7th, 2012
Rockwell Land Inc., the real estate arm of Manila Electric Co., has lined up three projects that are expected to begin construction this year.
The company, according to the prospectus filed with the stock exchange, plans to launch a mixed-used development by mid 2012 on a 3.6-hectare property adjacent to Rockwell Center that it acquired last year.
The project, called the Greater Rockwell, will expand the current Rockwell Center on the east side. Design and planning works are currently underway.
Rockwell Land will also build Lopez Tower with retail component at the Rockwell Center in Makati. The office building will serve as the headquarters of the different companies within the Lopez Group.
Construction of the tower is scheduled by the middle of the year and is expected to be completed over the next three years.
Another project is 205 Santolan, the company’s first townhouse community venture.
It will be situated on a 1.8-hectare land located near the Santolan-Ortigas Avenue intersection. Jenniffer B. Austria

jhomai14 May 7th, 2012, 07:23 AM ok, so this is NOT the skyrocketing LOPEZ TOWER we are "dreaming" to exhalt the skyline of Makati in the next few years, but instead a 19-storey high building. Atleast another addition to the growing jungle of Rockwell compound. Any renders?

Kinda hilarious how the Lopez Tower is suppose to be the centre piece of the Rockwell Centre, but it has been sadly demoted into a freaking groundscraper.
Every major tycoon in the country seems to have a much taller building, even Enrile's unfinished eyesore that is the Jaka Tower is taller than this...
yujinn May 9th, 2012, 06:24 AM Even if I have the millions and the need to have a unit in Rockwell area and even if the Lopez tower is the swankiest shiniest building in there, I won't buy simply because it is owned by the greedy Lopezes. Just saying.
InfinitiFX45 May 10th, 2012, 11:36 PM Rockwell Land allots P8B for new projects
by Zinnia B. Dela Peña | The Philippine Star | Friday | Updated May 11, 2012 | 12:00 AM
MANILA, Philippines - Upscale property firm Rockwell Land Corp. is allotting P8 billion for its capital expenditure program this year to include its venture into townhouse development and serviced apartments.
In an interview yesterday, Rockwell Land vice-president Ellen V. Almodiel said the company is expanding at an accelerating pace to capitalize on a resurgent property market and an improving economy.
Almodiel said this year’s capital budget is 15 percent higher than what the company spent in 2011.
She said the company aims to differentiate itself in the property market by expanding its product range, customer base and geographical reach.
To diversify its revenue sources, the company decided to enter into horizontal development with its first townhouse project, 205 Santolan.
Situated on a 1.8-hectare property located near the Santolan-Ortigas Avenue intersection, the low density project will make available a total of 105 units. It broke ground in February 2012 and is targered for turnover to the buyers by June next year.
Rockwell is looking to construct another townhouse project in a newly-acquired property in Benitez, Quezon City. It will have about 51 units.
Almodiel said the company is completing the development of the 50-story Edades building in Rockwell Center, which will feature six floors of serviced apartments. Plans involve the construction of around 114 studio, one-bedroom and two bedroom units with total net leasable area of 7,186 sqm.
Other projects for this year include the 19-story Lopez Tower within the Rockwell Center, which will serve as the headquarters of the Lopez Group of Companies. It is slated for completion in 2014.
The company’s flagship project, Rockwell Center, now consists of seven high- rise residential buildings, a high-end shopping mall (Power Plant Mall), an exclusive leisure club (Rockwell Club), a graduate school and two office buildings owned by Nestle Philippines and the Phinma Group.

The Lopez Tower and Museum Breaks Ground in Rockwell Center
The new headquarters of the Lopez Group of Companies broke ground in Rockwell Center, Makati City last April 26, 2012. Scheduled to rise by 2014, the 19 storey building will house The Lopez familys holding companies and various businesses in property development and energy.
With over 30,000 square meters in leasable office space, the building form is composed of four pillars, symbolizing intrinsic Lopez values which are entrepreneurship, integrity, leadership and public service.
Transfer of the Lopez Museum
The Lopez Museum, currently located in Benpres Building, will also be transferred to Rockwell Center. It is the first institutional philanthropic project established by the Eugenio Lopez Sr. The Lopez Museum in Rockwell Center will be two storeys and will display valuable art and artifacts which the family has amassed over the decades. It will offer an outstanding collection of Filipiniana archival material encompassing almost 600 years of Philippine arts, history, and culture. Its library features over 17,000 titles of Filipiniana books, antique maps, and archival material both rare as well as contemporary. Its art collection, which houses rare works by renowned Filipino painters such as Juan Luna and Felix Hidalgo, covers over 100 years of Philippine art history. Its lobby design is based on the Lopez family tribute, Undaunted, which chronicles the trials, tribulations and triumphs of the clan.
State-of-the-Art Building Features
Aside from actively pursuing a LEED GOLD Certification, The Lopez Tower and Museum, like all premium Rockwell developments, will have 100% back up power to ensure that work and productivity will never be disrupted. It will also have seven high speed elevators, generous parking allocation, a comprehensive telecommunication network, fully integrated building management systems and an efficiently designed VRF airconditioning system.
The Lopez Tower and Museums prime location is highlighted to its proximity to well known and complete establishments in Rockwell Center. The Power Plant Mall, which caters to over 50 restaurant choices, a supermarket and other retail establishments will be a hop and skip away for its future employees. Other nearby establishments are other residential areas for lease, The Rockwell Club, the Ateneo Professional Schools and of course, the Makati and Ortigas Business Districts, making The Lopez Tower and Museum the most desired office space in the Metro.
We are eager to welcome the rest Lopez Group of Companies here in Rockwell Center, and to house the Lopez Museumdefinitely gem to our Philippine history and culture. The Lopez Tower and Museum definitely completes Rockwell Centers masterplan. We look forward to making this site a bustling hub where the Group will plan and execute its strategies in the coming years, says Nestor Padilla, President of Rockwell Land Corporation.
Excavation work for the tower will commence by July of 2012, its turnover to tenants by June 2014 and project turnover and completion by October 2014.

So while the awesome original design of Lopez Centre has been resurrected and is now the symbol of America's rise against the horrors of terrorism, the new Lopez centre seems to be a downgraded design of a much taller and kickass building that is to be the new government centre in Moscow's ultra ambitious business district... ;)
