The Inner Ring Road (IRR) (Jawaharlal Nehru Road) is a major transportation corridor being developed in Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA) by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA). It is approximately 35 km long with three distinct arms viz., Northern arm, Central arm and Southern arm, connecting IT corridor at SRP tools in Tiruvanmiyur,Velachery main road at Vijayanagar NH 45 at Kathipara, NH 4 at Koyambedu, NH 205 at Padi, NH 5 at Madhavaram and joins SH 104 (TPP Road) near Manali

On a lighter note; the longest stretch of bypass completed or u/c by NHAI (Table 8.3 and 8.4) is not for any city or major town but it is for Nanguneri (a small town after Nellai towards Kanniyakumari). This is the place where the AMRL SEZ is coming up. To answer the question why it is so long; because it is a new alignment bypassing both Nanguneri and Ervadi.

The Coimbatore Bypass refers to a series of bypasses connecting the various National Highways and State Highways passing through and originating in the South Indian city of Coimbatore.

L&T by-pass i.e southern by-pass-28KM

The first section of the bypass was a 28-kilometer (17 mi) two-laned road with paved shoulders built by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) from Neelambur to Madukkarai on National Highway 544 (formerly National Highway 47) which intersects Trichy Road at Chintamani Pudur near Irugur and Eachanari on Pollachi Road. Land acquisition began as early as 1974, but the project was delayed. Construction began in 1998, and was completed in twenty-two months.[4] It was made operational in 2000.


Western by-pass – 26KM

In 2011, the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Highways and Minor Ports Department announced the construction of a 26-kilometer (16 mi) long Western Bypass from Kuniamuthur to Thudiyalur. The road would help connect people going from Madukkarai, and Palakkad to Maruthumalai, Thadagam, Thudiyalur and Anaikatti.[29] The proposed road would be 45 meters (148 ft) wide with paved shoulders on both sides and would cost 130 crore to build

Eastern by-pass 54KM - The National Highways Authority of India is conducting studies for a bypass along the Mettupalayam–Sulur National Highway 181 (formerly National Highway 67). The proposed length of this road is 53.95 kilometers (33.52 mi), and is expected to cost 601 crore to build.[24] The project was met with protests from farmers who claim that the project passes through fertile land and demanded re-alignment of the road. M R Sivasamy, the president of Tamizhaga Vivasayigal Sangham, demanded that the proposed road to be rerouted to start from Neelambur, and run through Vellanaipatty, Kallipalayam, Kunnathur, Kattampatty, Kuppepalayam, Sikkarampalayam and Odanthurai to reach Mettupalayam.[25][26] From Sulur, the width of the road is 10 metres, with one-metre hard way on either side, while 30-km of the road, covering important towns, is four-lane, and the remaining, two-lane till Karur

4-lane bridge in Tiruchy

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced that a four-lane bridge would be constructed across the Coleroon river, which connects Tiruchy city and Srirangam, to replace the existing bridge that is in a dilapidated state. A minor bridge would be built across the Ayyan canal on the approach road and works on a road junction would be undertaken. These improvements would come at a cost of Rs 81 crore.
The CM made that announcement during Zero Hour at the State Assembly. Stating that the government would take up the building of new bridges, laying of circular roads and by-pass roads to reduce travelling time and operating cost of vehicles, Jayalalithaa said a footover-bridge would be constructed in the place of the causeway connecting Karur-Vangal Road and Nagapattinam-Gudalur-Mysore Road near Pasupathipalayam in Karur district, at a cost of Rs 12.50 crore. A comprehensive project report on laying circular and radial roads for the municipal corporations — Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Salem, Tirupur, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Erode and Vellore — would begin very soon, the CM said.
A similar project report will be prepared for the laying of by-pass roads along the State highways in municipal areas to ease traffic congestion.�

btw, In trichy already bypass under construction connecting Karur Raod (Jeeyapuram) -Dintukal Road(Navalur Kottapattu )- Madurai Road(Panjapur)- Puthukottai Raod (mathur)- Tanjore Road (Thuvakudi)...

From Jeeyapuram to Panjapur already works started by Relience( you can see the mud road in Google map too).. but there is some problem due to care College (KN Nehru College) where village pond encroched and case was in Madurai court and now cleared... but progress is very low...

Mathur to Thuvakudi comes under Trichy-Karaikudi expansion, now LA in progress...

Total lenght of semi ring approx: 50 KMs from Jeeyapuram (Karur Road) to Thuvakudi 9Tanjore Raoad)- Please make a changes in first post accordingly...:)

Some small corrections and additions (inputs/feedback) in Madurai bypasses from my side.

* The outer ring road by NHAI don't cover between Tanichiyam (in Dindigul NH) and Alampatti (in Tirumangalam - Quilon NH744) (May be since NH bypass is already there between Samayanallur and Thoppur covering the Kochi NH also).

The Samayanallur to Thoppur (four laned as a part of NHDP) was done by NH dept and the Ringroad from Uthangudi to Kappalur (two laned IRR Phase I was done by Madurai corporation using loans which they are repaying using Toll collections).

* Inner ring road phase II between Samayanallur and Uthangudi (17 km) figures in every corporation budget and four laning of existing I Phase IRR (24.2 km) is also said about with realigning it because of Airport runway expansion.

Please add the 17 km thing to the first post of yours.

The old Bypass Road from Samayanallur to Vasanta nagar/Palanganatham is no longer a bypass now.

I will try to get the alignment of bypasses of Aundipatti, Usilampatti, Bodi, Theni, Dharapuram, and such nearby towns of Madurai and shall try to draw maps for them too (because they are familiar for me).

In Sivaganga, Eastern bypass is done by NHAI for 10.6 km as a part of Tanjore-Manamadurai NH project. And TN SH department is also taking a bypass project in Western side for 9 km. I prepared a tentative map as below.

THANJAVUR Ring Road:
Thanjavur is one of the very few cities which got ring road in early 90s.During World Tamil Conference in 1995, Phase 1 got completed.After a long interval Phase 2 is started and it is progressing now.

Phase I - 17 km:
Completed in 1995 by connecting Trichy,Pudukottai,Pattukottai,Nagapattinam,Chennai and Perambalur roads. Later period part of the ring road is acquired by NHAI while declaring Mysore-Nagapattinam NH. It is converted in Four Lane. Also another portion is taken for NH 45C which connects Chennai.

Phase II - 14 km:
Land acquisition is in progress after a long break. This will connect Perambalur road with Trichy road and complete the circle.

Ring road in Tirupur is well developed now and lot of industries have germinated along the Ring Road.. Two lane road covers the city is almost clean circle not an arc.. much of truck traffic is been diverted to Ring roads..

Hope they extend the two lane to four lane road..

In 90s traffic was major problem in tirupur.. ring roads have helped to ease city traffic to great extent..

Anyways most of main roads in tirupur are now one way.. Carefull when you are driving in the tirupur..

3.5-km stretch connects Musiri-Thuraiyur road with Perambalur road

The Thuraiyur bypass road inaugurated by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday would spare the public from frequent traffic hold ups in the congested town.

At a function in the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister inaugurated the bypass road along with other infrastructure projects via video conferencing.

Construction of the bypass road, a dire requirement for several years, was accorded a thrust four years ago. Laid at a cost of Rs. 9.45 crore, the bypass stretch of the State highway running to a length of about 3.5 kilometres connects the Musiri-Thuraiyur road with Perambalur road.

The project witnessed substantial delay and time and cost overruns. Albeit late, the public are happy that the road has finally been opened for traffic. Henceforth, buses plying from Chennai to Namkakkal, Musiri and Karur need not get into the chaotic traffic of Thuraiyur town, said Chairman of Thuraiyur municipality N. Murali.

By skipping Thuraiyur town, the mofussil buses would be able to save more than 15 minutes. The bypass road is expected to accelerate commercial and economic activities reflecting in construction of hotels and shopping complexes along the stretch, thereby reducing the inflow of vehicular traffic into the town.

The road runs through segments of the 18 ward of Thuraiyur municipality, and Keelakunnapatti, Melakunnapatti and Chitrapatti panchayat of Thuraiyur panchayat union.

Over the years, the delay in completion of the bypass road was a major cause for consternation among the public. With the number of two wheelers and four-wheelers rising by the day, adding to rapid urbanisation of Thuraiyur town, there used to be frequent traffic hold ups. The grouse of the public all along was that there was no point in postponing a project that was inevitable.

Barring buses and lorries bound for Attur in Salem district from Musiri and Tiruchi, heavy vehicles would hereafter be diverted through the bypass road. More importantly, the rate of road accidents in Thuraiyur town would come down, according to Parivendan, a senior citizen.

A ring road will be laid around Mannargudi at a cost of Rs. 100 crore. It will link Tiruvarur road, Thiruthuraipoondi road, Muthupettai road, Madukkur road, Vadaseri road, Orathanadu road, Thanjavur road and Needamangalam road.

Collector S. Natarajan inspected the sites where the road will pass through on Monday. He said that the road would be 23.50 kilometres long and 30 metres wide.

ரிங் ரோட்டை பொறுத்தமட்டில் தூத்துக்குடி நகருக்குள் வராமல் வாகனங்கள் செல்லும் வகையில் அமைக்கப்படுகிறது. இதனை எந்த பகுதியில் இருந்து அமைக்கலாம், எப்படி அமைக்கலாம் என்பது குறித்து டெண்டர் விடப்பட்டுள்ளது. டெண்டர் முடிவில் தனியர் நிறுவனம் இந்த பணிகளை மேற்கொள்ள உள்ளது. மதுரை ரோட்டில் இருந்து தூத்துக்குடி நகருக்குள் வராமல் ரிங் ரோடு திருச்செந்தூர் ரோட்டில் போய் சேரும் வகையிலும், திருச்செந்தூர் ரோட்டில் இருந்து நகருக்குள் வராமல் திருநெல்வேலி ரோட்டிற்கு செல்லும் வகையில் ரிங் ரோடு அமைக்கப்படும் என்று கறப்படுகிறது. டெண்டர் ஓகே செய்யப்பட்டவுடன் உடனடியாக ஆய்வு பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது. இந்த ஆய்வு பணி 3 மாதத்திற்குள் முடிக்கப்படும். பின்னர் இது சம்பந்தமான ஆய்வு அறிக்கை அரசிடம் தாக்கல் செய்யப்படும். அதன் பிறகு அரசு இந்த ரோடு அமைப்பதற்கு கோடிக்கணக்கான ரூபாய் பணம் அனுமதிக்கும் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. இதே போல் நகரின் முக்கிய சந்திப்புகளை மேம்பாடு செய்வதற்கும், விபத்து பகுதிகளை மேம்பாடு செய்வதற்கும் ஆய்வு பணிகள் இதில் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது. மிக விரைவில் ஆய்வு துவங்க உள்ளதால் மிக விரைவில் தூத்துக்குடியில் போக்குவரத்து நெருக்கடி தீர்வதற்கு வாய்ப்பு ஏற்படும் என்று நெடுஞ்சாலைத்துறை வட்டாரங்கள் தெரிவித்தன

Salem bypass road near Bangalore road AVR Circle!!

The traffic is pathetic even around 11:00 to 3:00PM.. in peak hours it is still worse to cross the signals on the bypass road.

Salem bypass might be the worst among all bypass road in TN interms of traffic and no. of traffic signals.

Atleast the traffic bound for CBE/Kerala have option to skip Salem bypass and travel via Mecheri, Mettur, Bhavani or Omalur, Tharamangalam, Sankari.. but North to South TN traffic needs to cross 5 similar signal/junction on Salem bypass road.

Sand lorries and heavy vehicles from Trichy to Salem and Erode to skip Namakkal from 22.july.2012 onwards , thanks to the inaguration of heavy vehicle road. The heavy vehicles from Madurai to Salem goes thro' bypass , but vehicles from Trichy to Salem and Erode has to enter Namakkal Town.Now this is eased.

Inauguration of the widened and strengthened road for sand trucks and other heavy vehicles for a stretch of 29 km – from Valayapatti to Pudanchandhai – will ensure a heavy vehicle-free Namakkal town.

The road works carried out at an estimate Rs. 9.5 crore was inaugurated by Industries Minister P. Thangamani on Saturday.

The project was initiated to put an end to entry of the hundreds of sand carrying trucks and other heavy load carries that entered Namakkal every day to reach Tiruchi from Salem – to take goods to North India – and vice versa.

These trucks not only added to the traffic congestion of the narrow roads in this town but also posed a threat to the lives of pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.

Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Kannamal said that these trucks and other load carrying trucks will make use of this dedicated route for such heavy vehicles from Sunday, July 22.

She pointed out that trucks heading towards Tiruchi from to Salem should take a diversion at Pudanchandhai to the Tiruchi Road at Valayapatti through Senthamangalam, Alanganatham Junction and Kalichettipatti.

“Heavy vehicles (especially sand laden trucks) from Tiruchi to Salem should take a diversion from the Tiruchi Road at Valayapatti and reach Pudanchandhai in the same route. Vehicles heading from Tiruchengode to Tiruchi should reach Valayapatti by taking a diversion at Velagoundampatti, through Periyamanali Musiri, Udupam, Pudanchandhai and then take the above said route,” she added.

Ms. Kannamal said that vehicles from Tiruchengode can also make use another path to Tiruchi through Paramathi, Velur, Mohanur and reach Valayapatti.

Saying so, she made an appeal to the truck owners, fleet operators and truck drivers to extend their cooperation to the police by making use of the new route.

She also warned of stringent legal action against trucks that entered Namakkal town from Sunday.

Residents of Namakkal town said that the alternative road for sand laden trucks and heavy load carries will be a boon to other road users.

“Sand falling into our eyes has become a part and parcel of life when we ride two-wheelers in the town, as hundreds of trucks enter the town every day.

Hope it does not happen from Sunday,” says motorist A. Saravanan (26).

தென்காசி : "தென்காசியில் பைபாஸ் ரோடு அமைக்கும் பணியை துரிதப்படுத்த வேண்டும்' என சட்டசபை மனுக்கள் குழு தலைவரிடம் எம்.எல்.ஏ., சரத்குமார் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

தமிழ்நாடு சட்டசபை மனுக்கள் குழு தலைவர் மோகன் தலைமையில் அக்குழுவினர் ஆலோசனை கூட்டம் நடத்த குற்றாலம் வந்தனர். அப்போது குழு தலைவர் மோகனை தென்காசி எம்.எல்.ஏ.,சரத்குமார் சந்தித்து கோரிக்கை மனுக்கள் கொடுத்தார். அம்மனுக்களில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:

""தென்காசி சுற்றுலா ஸ்தலமான குற்றாலத்திற்கு அருகில் உள்ளது. குற்றாலம் வரும் சுற்றுலா பயணிகளின் வருகையால் தென்காசி வாகன நெருக்கடியில் சிக்கி தவிக்கிறது. கேரள மாநிலம் அருகில் இருப்பதால் அங்கு பொருட்களை கொண்டு செல்லும் லாரி போன்ற இதர வாகனங்களின் நெருக்கடியும் உள்ளது. இவற்றை தவிர்த்திட தென்காசிக்கு புறவழிச்சாலை அமைத்திட தமிழக அரசு உத்தவிட்டுள்ளது. இதற்காக நெடுஞ்சாலைத்துறையால் நிலம் கையகப்படுத்தும் பணி நடந்து வருகிறது. இதற்கு அரசு 8 கோடியே 9 லட்சம் ரூபாய் ஒதுக்கீடு செய்துள்ளது. இப்பணியை விரைவுபடுத்தி புற வழிச்சாலைக்கான திட்ட மதிப்பீடும் தயார் செய்யப்பட்டு விரைவில் புறவழிச்சாலையும் அமைத்திட நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

பொதுமக்களிடம் முதியோர், விதவைகள், மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் ஓய்வூதிய விண்ணப்பங்களை நான் பெற்று தென்காசி, வீரகேரளம்புதூர் தாசில்தார்களுக்கு அனுப்பியுள்ளேன். இவற்றில் பெரும்பாலான விண்ணப்பங்கள் தள்ளுபடி செய்யப்படுகின்றன. வறுமைக்கோடு பட்டியலில் விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் இல்லை என்று காரணம் கூறப்படுகிறது. வறுமைக்கோடு பட்டியல் கடந்த 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு எடுக்கப்பட்டது. இப்பட்டியல் முறையாக பராமரிக்கப்படாததால் தற்போதைய வறுமையாளர் பெயர் அதில் இருக்க வாய்ப்பில்லை. எனவே ஓய்வூதியம் பெறுவதற்கு வறுமைக்கோடு பட்டியல் தேவையில்லை என தமிழக அரசிடம் ஆணை பெற்று வழங்கிட வேண்டும்.

பாவூர்சத்திரம் பகுதியில் விளையும் காய்கறிகள், பழங்களை பாதுகாத்திட குளிர்சாதன வசதி கேட்டு சட்டசபையில் பேசினேன். இத்திட்டத்தை நிறைவேற்றிட 2011-12ம் நிதியாண்டில் 2 கோடி ரூபாய் ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்பட்டதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. பாவூர்சத்திரம் ஒழுங்கு முறை விற்பனைக் கூடம் பகுதியில் குளிர்சாதன கிடங்கு அமைத்திட வேண்டும். ஜம்புநதி-நாராயணப்பேரி கால்வாய் திட்டம் நிறைவேற்ற 8 கோடி ரூபாய் ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்பட்டது. இதற்கான பணி விரைவில் துவக்கிட வேண்டும். மேலும் குலையநேரி கால்வாய் திட்டத்திற்கும் நிதி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்து பணி துவக்கிட வேண்டும்.

பாவூர்சத்திரம் வளர்ந்து வரும் பகுதியாக உள்ளது. தென்காசி-நெல்லை ரோட்டில் பாவூர்சத்திரம் இருப்பதால் அதிகமான வாகன போக்குவரத்து இருக்கும் பகுதியாக விளங்குகிறது. பாவூர்சத்திரத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ரயில்வே கேட் மூடப்படும் போது வாகனங்கள் அணி வகுத்து நீண்ட நேரம் நிற்க வேண்டியுள்ளது. இதனை தவிர்க்க பாவூர்சத்திரத்தில் ரயில்வே மேம்பாலம் அமைத்திட தமிழக அரசுக்கு பரிந்துரை செய்திட வேண்டும்'' என எம்.எல்.ஏ.,சரத்குமார் கோரிக்கை மனுக்களில் கூறியுள்ளார்.

திருச்சி & ராமேஸ்வரம் தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலை எண் 210&ல் திருச்சியில் இருந்து காரைக்குடி வரை 84 கி.மீ. நீள சாலையை நான்கு வழிச்சாலையாக மாற்றும் பணி இந்திய தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலை ஆணையம் சார்பில் நடந்து வருகிறது.
ரூ.374 கோடி திட்டமதிப்பீட்டிலான இந்த பணியை ‘டிரான்ஸ்ட்ராய்‘ என்ற நிறுவனம் காண்ட்ராக்டு எடுத்து செய்து வருகிறது. இந்த பணியானது கடந்த 2011&ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கியது வருகிற 2013 மார்ச் மாதத்திற்குள் இந்த பணியை முடிக்கவேண்டும் என இலக்கு நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது.

அரைவட்ட சுற்றுச்சாலை
இந்த பணியுடன் சேர்த்து திருச்சி & தஞ்சை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலை எண் 67 ஐயும், திருச்சி& மதுரை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலை எண் 45 பி யையும் இணைக்கும் 26 கி.மீ நீள அரைவட்ட சுற்றுச்சாலை (ரிங்ரோடு) அமைக்கும் பணியையும் இந்த நிறுவனம் செய்து வருகிறது.

இந்த சுற்றுச்சாலையானது திருச்சி& தஞ்சை சாலையில் துவாக்குடி அருகில் இருந்து தொடங்கி பழங்கனாங்குடி, சூரியூர், கும்பக்குடி வழியாக திருச்சி நகரில் இருந்து 10வது கிலோமீட்டரில் சாக்ரட் ஹார்ட் பள்ளி அருகில் எண் 210 திருச்சி புதுக்கோட்டை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையையும், ஆவூர்ரோடு மற்றும் கே.கே.நகரில் இருந்து ஆவூர் செல்லும் ஓலையூர் சாலையையும், சாத்தனூர் சாலையையும் கடந்து திருச்சி மதுரை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் பஞ்சப்பூர் சாரநாதன் பொறியியல் கல்லூரி அருகில் முடிகிறது.

26 கி.மீ. நீளம்
இந்த 26 கி.மீ நீள சாலையில் இதுவரை 15 கி.மீ அளவிற்கு பணிகள் இறுதி கட்டத்தை எட்டி உள்ளன. இதில் 10 கி.மீ நீளத்திற்கு மெட்டல் ஒர்க் பணிகள் முடிவடைந்து விட்டன. இதன் மேல் இன்னும் ஒரு லேயர் மெட்டல் ஒர்க் முடிந்த பின்னர் தார் ஊற்றப்படும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. மீதி ஐந்து கிலோ மீட்டர் நீளத்திற்கு ‘சாய்ல் ஒர்க்‘ எனப்படும் லாரி லாரியாக மணல் மற்றும் மூலப்பொருட்கள் கொண்டு வந்து குவித்து சாலையை உருவாக்கும் பணிகள் தீவிரமாக நடந்து வருகின்றன. கிட்டத்தட்ட ஓலையூர் சாலை வரை பணிகள் நடந்து வருகிறது.

மீதம் உள்ள 11 கி.மீ நீளத்திற்கு சாலை அமைக்கும் பணிகள் இன்னும் தொடங்கவில்லை என்றாலும் ஓலையூர் சாலையில் இருந்து பஞ்சப்பூர் வரை சுற்றுச்சாலை செல்லும் பாதையை அடையாளம் கண்டு அளவிட்டு குறியீடுகளை செய்து உள்ளனர். இன்னும் ஒரு மாத காலத்தில் இந்த பகுதியில் சாலை அமைக்கும் பணி தொடங்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

அடுத்த மே மாதம் முடியும்
26 கி.மீ. ரிங்ரோட்டில் குமாரமங்கலம் என்ற இடத்தில் ரெயில்வே மேம்பாலமும், 3 இடங்களில் ஆறு மற்றும் குளங்களை கடப்பதற்காக பெரிய மேம்பாலங்களும், 2 சிறிய பாலங்களும் கட்டப்படுகின்றன. இதில் குமார மங்கலம் ரெயில்வே மேம்பால பணிக்கு ரெயில்வே போர்டின் அனுமதி கிடைக்காததால் கட்டுமான பணி இன்னும் தொடங்கவில்லை. மற்ற மேம்பால பணிகள் தொடங்கி நடந்து வருகின்றன. இந்த அரை வட்டச்சாலை பணியை அடுத்த ஆண்டு (2013) மே மாதத்திற்குள் முடிக்கவேண்டும் என இலக்கு நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்ட காலத்திற்குள் பணியை முடிக்க தீவிரமாக வேலைகள் நடந்து வருகிறது.

பயண நேரம் குறையும்
இந்த சாலை பயன்பாட்டுக்கு வரும் போது பயண நேரம் பெரும் அளவில் குறையும். தற்போது தஞ்சை மார்க்கத்தில் இருந்து மதுரை உள்பட தென் மாவட்டங்களுக்கு கார் மற்றும் வாகனங்களில் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்றால் போக்குவரத்து நெருக்கடி நிறைந்த பாய்லர் ஆலை, திருவெறும்பூர், அரியமங்கலம் ஆகிய இடங்களை கடந்து டி.வி.எஸ். டோல் கேட் மேம்பாலம் வழியாக தான் மதுரை சாலையை அடைய முடியும்.

இதே போல் தென் மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து வரும் வாகனங்களும் தஞ்சை, நாகை, திருவாரூர் மற்றும் காரைக்கால் போன்ற இடங்களுக்கு செல்லவேண்டும் என்றால் இதே வழியை தான் பின்பற்றவேண்டிய நிலை உள்ளது. ஆனால் இந்த அரைவட்ட ரிங் ரோடு பணி முடிவடைந்து போக்குவரத்துக்கு திறக்கப்பட்டு விட்டால் மதுரை ரோட்டில் பஞ்சப்பூரில் இருந்து நேரடியாக ரிங் ரோட்டில் ஏறி போக்குவரத்து நெருக்கடிகளில் சிக்காமலும், திருச்சி நகரத்துக்குள் வராமலும் நேராகவே தஞ்சை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் துவாக்குடியில் போய் சேர்ந்து விடலாம்.

இதன் மூலம் பயண நேரம் வெகுவாக குறையும் என்பதும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

A poor planning by NHAI! City traffic from Madurai, NH-7 down traffic takes single road.. and NH-7 up traffic from south takes this ROB.. Road surface is worst here and it is just 2-lane.. It is newly constructed I wonder why it was not designed for 3-lane :bash:

3. No up ramp from Samayanallur to Thennur road.. so that city traffic from Madurai can take up Samayanllur ROB NH-7 without using the down carriage way.
4. Samayanallur ROB is just 2 lane and poor quality road

Other than these issue.. Road standard was excellent.

Thanks for the photo updates. Most of the ROB's contructed by NHAI are 3 laned. I also wonder how a recently constructed ROB is only 2 laned.

Namakkal is getting another Bypass ( Ring road ) and this time by SG. Likely to be mentioned in the forthcoming budget.

1 Old byepass road 8kms (from new bus stand -vannarpettai-Thatchanallur)

2. New 4 way byepass is 19.66 Kms(Rettiarpatti-Sankar nagar)

3.Proposed western ring road is 58 Kms (Sankar nagar-Rajapalayam road-Tenkasi road-Papanasam road-Nagercoil road)

I am belongs to Usilampatti, Madurai DT. As for 4 years back Govt measured land for Bypass road( town traffic diversion ). Last year govt published about acquisition land , but the alloted budget was transfered to another bypass plan.

As per 2013 year budget we couldnt get clear whether bypass road alloted or have to wait for next budget..?

CM unveils projects for rail overbridges, river bridges

CHENNAI, April 2, 2013

Besides announcing 18 rail overbridges in 11 districts, at a cost of Rs. 948.30 crore, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday unveiled a Rs. 300-crore project for constructing 131 river bridges on government and panchayat union roads

Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, she said 67 government roads, covering 215 km, would be laid at a cost of Rs. 100 crore. The fund for projects would come from NABARD, she said.

She said a bypass from the Thanjavur district collector office to Manakarambai, via Perambalur-Manamadurai State highway, would be laid. The cost of the second phase of this project, which covers 14. 27 km, is Rs. 98 crore.

The Chief Minister said two rail overbridges would come up in Chinnakavanam and Nandhiampakkam, in Tiruvallur district, two at Tiruvannamalai and Polur in Tiruvannamalai district, two at Vadukanthangal and Vellore in Vellore district, two at Manakkal and Kalkandarkottai in Tiruchi district, two at Mulluvadi Gate and Vazhapadi in Salem district, three at Peralam, Needamangalam and Singalancheri in Tiruvarur district, one each at Kancheepuram, Nagapattinam, Matappatu in Villupuram, Rasipalayam in Coimbatore and Valliyur in Tirunelveli district.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said the SIPCOT industrial complex at Bargur would be linked with the National Highway, by creation of Pochampalli-Kodamandapatti road, at a cost of Rs. 8.68 crore. Similarly, the industrial complex would be linked with the Pochampalli-Kodamandapatti road, at a cost of Rs. 3.33 crore.

“These roads will enable movement of goods from the industrial complex to other areas and bring materials for the industries,” she said.

Do you mean bypass in NH 49 Extn. The bypass proposal for usilampatti and Andippatti is with MoRTH Delhi and it is in DPR stage Still a long way to go ..........

The Rs.200 Crores Cuddalore bypass road project which was envisaged by Highways dept had been put off due to high cost. The project which was gathering dust without any progress has got a new impetus from the National Highways (NHAI) taking up with new plans. The envisaged bypass project of NHAI would run a length of 18 kms. The new bypass starts from Kanniakoil, heads west wards, touches Maruthadu, goes to Central Jail and finally gets connected with SIPCOT. The project will have 3 new bridges coming up. Project report is being make ready and lands would soon be acquired.

The need for such a bypass road as reported in the news report are...

1. The distance from Alpet check post to Cuddalore Old town is 6 kms
2. The time taken by vehicles to cross past this 6 kms is 30 minutes

Road being built in Salem to cut accidents

New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) A proposal to build a Ring Road about 60 km long in Salem in Tamil Nadu to check the number of accidents in the city, parliament was informed Monday.

Road Transport and Highways Minister S. Sathyanarayana told the Lok Sabha that the proposal had been received from the Tamil Nadu government under the National Highway Development Programme

We can be sure that they will be takers for BOT from NH-7 to NH-47 to NH-68 i.e for 3/4th of ring road.. NH-68 to NH7 via Yercaud road may need state gvt funds, since traffic movement will be less.
