Top Officials of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV) Visit Pueblo de Panay Township

Newly-appointed chancellor of UPV Dr. Rommel Espinosa visited Roxas City last 15 April 2012 to view the proposed 3-hectare area for the UPV campus in Roxas City.

Chancellor Espinosa, physicist, mechanical engineer, and computer scientist, was gracious enough to accept the township's invitation to consider opening a campus in Roxas City to cater to the Northern Panay, Romblon, Masbate, and nearby islands.

The UPV chancellor was accompanied by his 3 vice chancellors: Dr. Evelyn Belleza (Planning & Development), Prof. Nestor Yunque (Administration) and Dr. Ricardo Babaran (Research & Extension).

After lunch at Festa Restaurant at Hotel Veronica, since they were interested in housing for UPV employees and faculty, they passed by:
1) bungalow model house at Costa Verde Village by Twin Hearts Shj Realty and
2) Pueblo de Panay Realty's duplex model unit at Happy Homes Roxas, Cagay, Roxas City. Together, they found the model homes to their liking.

Finally, they had fun time at Roxas City's Palina River Cruise with UP Fisheries alumnae Bels Garrido (of the Roxas City Coastal Resource Management group) touring them.

The tower is strong enough to resist earthquakes/typhoons ang even floods when I inspected it after that earthquake that hits Capiz during the incumbency of former Gov. Borda..I just forgot the name of the owner but he is also a civil engineer and one bright engineer of dpwh region 6...may garden pa ina sa ibabaw...he predicted that in case of flood, he is already safe..and it really happened..he designed a monolithic reinforced box-type structure to resist any horizontal forces...I reported it a safe building...siguro kon sa US ini sya basi kuhaon pa kay daw genius...thank you for posting Sir Rommel kay wala gid ko time makakuha sina...nami ni nga tourists attraction.. - Acevedo Bobsky

Under feasibility study ang 3-hectare lot nila toto sa PDP.
It is backed by the RDC Chairman and Capiz Gov Tanco who happens also to be the President of UP Alumni Assoc.-Capiz
