It must be the 1st of April....as that shocker will (a) never get approved and (b) who in their right mind would invest in it! I think the developer has lost touch with reality. Still it was a good laugh to start the day.

I expect to see something built on the site but probably 5-6 stories max and in the current climate at least a couple of years away..

20 levels... It reminds me slightly of the Wrest Point Casino in terms of standing alone and tall near the water.
It's also interesting that they don't really talk about what is actually going into the building, more about how its presence will revitalise the area.... Personally I think that the impetus should always be having the building solve a problem rather than its presence, which is still important.
As an aside, does Launceston have a height limit to it's developments in the CBD?

They built better stuff than this in communist Eastern Europe. And in dictatorial post communist Eastern Europe. The only "presence" this thing will have is like that hotel in Pyonyang. With all that money he wants to show us he has he should spend some of it on a better architect.

One storey more than Wrest Point; that would make it Tasmania's tallest building (apart from Mt. Wellington tower) - totally out of place up there. Looks like something from SimCity.

I actually think this is not a bad idea. Launie needs something like this but i think having a 20 storey building for a city like Launie is abit over the top, but it would create quite a few jobs which is what this region and the rest of tassie really needs.
But on the other hand i think this would suit Hobart's steadily growing skyline better. somewhere near the Derwent would be nice it would really make Hobarts skyline stand out.
