Ok guys, I'm going to Budapest in august and I would like to ask you for something. I'm a vegetarian so my question is : Do you have any national vegetarian dish wich I must to know??:)

I'd say LECSÓ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lecs%C3%B3) is, but make sure it is also made without any meat, because there are a 1000 variations.

Also, the thick variations of vegetable stews are called characteristically hungarian, they are made from almost all vegetables, the category is called főzelék (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C5%91zel%C3%A9k). But it is typically thickened with sour creme and I dont know if ure hardcore veggie or not.

but be prepared: hungarians CANT IMAGINE any dish without carbon hydrates or meat, you'll find it hard to avoid meat here.. :)

I'm vegetarian, not vegan so I eat cheese, milk, and cream :)

If you are planning to go to Budapest, and not only interested in Hungarian vegetarian dishes, then you will be totally fine, there are plenty of vegetarian restaurants (indian, falafel etc).

I don't know where to post this, but if it's a question I'll use this thread. I need someone to translate something from hungarian to english and google translate is not useful because it translates wrong. It's not a long text. Please if someone wants to help me send a PM :)
