Nice, but Boatnurd you should inform us that the first rendering you posted is a conception rendering and that there is a much better updated one with the final design. Your second rendering shows the final one though.

Thanks Paule, good catch. I just corrected it.

LOL, it's just that that first rendering was so ugly, thanks for posting the newer version!! :)

The Minnesota architectural firm misspelled 'Potawatomi' (signage on top of building); let's hope they catch the error before the two story letters are ordered and installed. Milwaukee-based Rinka Chung Architecture would have designed a spectacular building and spelled the tribe's name correctly.

I thought so to but I was afraid people might start to think I'm being too anal retentive in the thread if I brought that up too. :)

We just have to make sure there isnt a secret elevator that goes to the Tenth Floor when its under construction Ala "The Killing" where secret deals are made over looking the city.....

Looks good. Hopefully the people who come up to Milwaukee to lose some money to the Casino spend it at other local institutions.

Anyone have a confirmed height? I've read it will be about the same height as the Pfister which is 250 but I haven't seen a confirmed height.

Why switch? We have all the early pics and comments on this thread. Very odd?

We can just request that the mods change the title of this thread. It's what they've done in the past.

Glad to see that construction is underway on this one though. Can't wait to see it rise.

have any photos of the construction on this surfaced yet? Curious to see how far they've gotten in 10 days

I am not sure, I havn't been to that side of Milwaukee in a while. Does anyone know if the pre-construction utility work on and around the site is done, and if any digging for the foundation itself has started? The digging, foundation work and the initial rising of the steel or concrete tend to be my favorite part of any construction project. This project has been pretty low key for such a high traffic and visible location.

I live near the site. Last week, they had a couple tents set up for the ground breaking. They have since removed them, but there has been no work done and absolutely no evidence that they are starting in the next few days. No fence has been put up and there's no construction equipment on site as of yet. Hopefully, they won't wait too long to get started....I'm sure it won't take the two year that it took the Moderne to get off the ground!

No one's posted an update on this in a while, so I thought I'd snap a picture:

hm, doesn't appear that much has happened yet. Hope to see some ground moving soon! I'm excited to see the depth this structure will add to Milwaukee's skyline. It says it's a 20-story structure, which is about as tall as those Park Lafayette buildings I believe, but in the renderings it doesn't appear to be too high, but maybe that's just me.

The site for the hotel does have some activity but mostly digging in the ground. There is a black covering with a fence and construction vehicles but no sign yet of it rising from the ground.

Tower crane base is installed...crane will follow very shortly. Should see the structure rising out of the ground very soon.

Cool design! Looks like a bit of a throwback to Mid-Century Modern.

Potawatomi Casino Hotel
Hi All,
I'm the tower crane operator on the new Hotel at Potawatomi. I was also on the tower cranes at Park Lafayette and St John's On The Lakefront in Milwaukee.
We pumped 1040 yards of concrete today into one pilecap/pad that will serve as the base for two elevator shafts and a stairwell.

Here's a pic I snapped, I'll try to post more as the job goes on.

i tracked down a pdf of the renderings dated 3-27-12 that show it will be 266'-4" feet to the main roof and 307'-4" feet to the top of the lantern. note that these renderings also show a 21-story building (the elevation rendering shows 22... but they don't have a 13th floor in the count). does anyone know if these were the final renderings or if the building was scaled down to 20 stories? i couldn't find any other documents from the city of milwaukee web site.

Can someone please take a couple of quick pics of this hotel rising and post. I believe it is now 3-4 stories off the ground now. This is a significant and large scale project with little fanfare. If I get a chance to get down to the valley next weekend I will bring my camera. Just imagine the pics looking north/north east that will come when it is topped off.

wow this is going to be a lot bigger than I thought. I'm coming in to town next week, definitely going to check out the space in person! I wonder how visible this will end up being when driving east on i94, perhaps by the summer we can get an idea

I don't know what it is but lately to me it seems the buildings planned or under construction around the U.S. now seem overtly reminiscent of the 1960s.

So Brasilia was a successful experiment architecture?

Can we start to call this "style" Mad Men architecture?

Going to be extremely visible, there are stretches east of 26th that you can already see it.
