any news on this one, cause Abu Dhabi doesn't get much publicity. I suppose if they still didn't break ground, wait another year for this one to rise.

KONE Delivers Middle East's First Double-deck Elevators to Capital Plaza in Abu Dhabi

KONE Corporation, Press Release, 13 April, 2007

KONE has won a major order to deliver all elevators and escalators to
Capital Plaza in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The order includes
30 elevators and six escalators. Installation of the devices will
start at the end of 2007 and is scheduled for completion during the
second half of 2009.

Capital Plaza is a 5-tower multi-purpose center covering high-quality
residential, hotel and office space. The tallest of the five towers
will hold 45 floors and reach up to 156 meters.

http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x134/sami_tabet/CP6.jpg

Four of the delivered units will be KONE double-deck elevators, which
will be installed in the office tower. The double-deck elevators will
be equipped with a destination control, and are the first of its kind
installed in the entire Middle East area. The elevators will travel
at a speed of 6 m/s.

"We are looking forward to the challenging high-rise market in the Middle East, which requires us to create more and more advanced solutions for people flow management."

The double-deck elevators consist of two elevator cars on top of each
other in the same hoist-way, thus enabling more efficient use of the
building core space. The destination control optimizes the traveling
time by directing passengers to specific elevator.

AD is not going "slow", they are just following basic urban design / Physical Planning guidelines....one can't expect a "tallest building in the world" at the intersection of Khalifa street and Salaam street, already known for its high density. However, we can definitely hope that they do something exceptional on Reem Island.....

It is stated that the three residential towers have a total of 260 units.. if that is true, then each tower would have an average of 85 units in total and a little bit above 2 units per floor. it just could not make sense to me, the number sounds really low, if any one could confirm the total number of residential units, i will highly appreciated. thank you guys in advance (S)
