I am on a super fast connection and all other website are really quick. SkyscraperCity Forums are taking up to 30 seconds to load each page.

Its driving me nuts.

I suffer from this since months during evening hours aswell.
Probably there is just to much traffic and the server can't handle it anymore :ohno:

...otherwise it's a mystery to me

It can be slow during European evenings due to high traffic, but hardly more then 30 seconds for me. If it gets worse, we'll add another server to it.

I am using during the working day in Australia - there might be a few leftover Americans, but most Europeans should be asleep!

I noticed it too. Although, it isn't really to bad. I spend alot of time at www.simtropolis.com, and that site is slow.

It's appallingly slow this evening ... pages are taking 2 minutes to load.

What's going on? :?

When it gets really busy, sometimes my connection will be rejected. I'd have to try reloading 3-4 times to get the page to load.

Though I can't rule out a problem on my end, this only seems to happen during peak hours, so it could be a combination.

Today (right now) is the slowest I've ever experienced. :wallbash:

We'll be getting an image server some time soon. That should take quite a load of the main server.

That's wonderful news. :) Thanks, Jan!

No worries, the site can be as slow for me as it can be for you.

For me, If I am already logged in on the Remember Me checkbox, SSC loads up in 30 seconds on average. But that is the main reason I could not log out and log back in later; my connection rejects it that way. I had to attempt loading up SSC 10 times at least before I signed up here to become a memeber.

It varies for me really, at the moment, its quite fast, about 2 seconds to load a page.
But yesterday night(GMT+08:00), it took like 5 minutes to load a page.

Its usually super slow for me during the evening periods, but overall, accessing from home has been slow despite having cable access. Its so much faster in sch! :D

I hate to have to resuscitate this thread, but the forum is being AWFULLY slow today! :( I've also heard quite a few complaints about this from my Italian buddies.

Are we already reaching server capacity again?

All my other sites work swiftly & fine btw. :)

Where have the stats gone???

Jan
January 6th, 2005, 01:29 PM
@ Kampflamm: I'm just testing which options that can be missed could spare server capacity and bandwidth. Showing who's online takes up capacity, especially when the numbers grow. This site is growing quite fast, it's not always easy to keep up with it in the short run. Keep in mind this project is only a hobby for me.

It's certainly ok with me (I wasn't p'ed off or anything about the stats being gone), I was just wondering if that might be the reason behind the good performance today.
