View Full Version : LA is the most "filmed" city savvysearch November 27th, 2004, 07:52 AM http://www.southbendtribune.com/stories/2004/11/26/entertainment.20041126-sbt-MICH-D12-Prime_time_shows_oft.sto SChristopher December 18th, 2004, 12:28 AM You need a membership to open that up, though it is free, that is probably why no one replied. I am surprised to see that in a newspaper from South Bend! And surprised that you picked up on it living so far. Yet I am not surprised that this is true since most things are filmed in LA even commercials. archd1 April 3rd, 2006, 06:39 PM Check this movie out. I believe there's a special screening at the DGA sometime late this month. More info on that later... Plot Summary for Los Angeles Plays Itself (2003) Of the cities in the world, few are depicted in and mythologized more in film and television than the city of Los Angeles. In this documentary, Thom Andersen examines in detail the ways the city has been depicted, both when it is meant to be anonymous and when itself is the focus. Along the way, he illustrates his concerns of how the real city and its people are misrepresented and distorted through the prism of popular film culture. Furthermore, he also chronicles the real stories of the city's modern history behind the notorious accounts of the great conspiracies that ravaged his city that reveal a more open and yet darker past than the casual viewer would suspect. Summary taken from: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379357/ Facial April 4th, 2006, 01:02 AM There was a thread a long time ago about this. For a while people were confused whether New York or Los Angeles was more filmed. Some people also mentioned European capitals, and by all means they are all popular localities. Or maybe their just starting early for next super bowl commercials. Possible a "Bud Light", taste great, no less filling. Well you get the picture, right? LANative April 4th, 2006, 05:54 AM I actually thought New York was the most filmed city. Anyways, Downtown L.A. is also most filmed city for car commercials. Manila-X April 4th, 2006, 08:56 AM NY? That was during the time when Fort Lee, NJ. was the film capital and not Hollywood! Where do most film studios in the US located? There even some TV series and movies that portrayed NY but was filmed in LA. Take a look at End Of Days. Some of the helicopter scenes were filmed in Downtown LA but was supposed to resemble Manhattan. saiholmes April 4th, 2006, 09:42 AM Couldn't find mapping for /stories/2004/11/26/entertainment.20041126-sbt-MICH-D12-Prime_time_shows_oft.sto and no default error page! FROM LOS ANGELES April 5th, 2006, 03:02 AM I didn't check the jerseys, but I remember the colors. White and some sort of reddish or brownish color. Maybe it was the Trojans now that I think about it. I meant to say LA first and NY second :) Fern~Fern* April 7th, 2006, 08:44 AM ^ When you say LA, do you mean Los Angeles and then Hollywood. Or as one combined filming site. Manila-X April 7th, 2006, 09:09 AM ^ When you say LA, do you mean Los Angeles and then Hollywood. Or as one combined filming site. I think it's the whole of LA including Hollywood. That means it also includes neighboring counties like Orange, San Bernardino or Ventura. |
