hmm, i suppose there is. then it is the menderes railway. that means the metro station will be sooooooooo close to the airport

this is the current sub-urban train line between alsancak and a.menderes airport (i think there are some stations after menderes airport)!

the 2nd phase of construction for this line will be start this september and will be end within 24 months! the constructions include 4,7km tunnel!

Hattın Karşıyaka'da 3, Şirinyer'de de 1.7 kilometresi yeraltından gidecek. Karşıyaka Tünellerinin yapımı sırasında Trenler Menemen'den sonra kentiçine giriş yapamayacak. Yolcu ve yükler tünel inşaatı bitene kadar karayoluyla limana ve kent merkezine taşınacak.

The Istanbul Pogrom (also known as Istanbul Riots; Greek: Σεπτεμβριανά (Events of September); Turkish: 6–7 Eylül Olayları (Events of September 6-7)), was a pogrom directed primarily at Istanbul's 100,000-strong Greek minority on September 6 and 7, 1955. Jews and Armenians living in the city and their businesses were also targeted in the pogrom, which was orchestrated by the Demokrat Parti-government of Turkish Prime Minister Adnan Menderes. The events were triggered by the false news that the house in Thessaloniki, Greece, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born in 1881, had been bombed the day before.[1]

A Turkish mob, most of which was trucked into the city in advance, assaulted Istanbul’s Greek community for nine hours. Although the orchestrators of the pogrom did not explicitly call for Greeks to be killed, between 13 and 16 Greeks (including two Orthodox clerics) and at least one Armenian died during or after the pogrom as a result of beatings and arsons.[2]

Thirty-two Greeks were severely wounded. In addition, dozens of Greek women were raped, and a number of men were forcibly circumcised by the mob. 4,348 Greek-owned businesses, 110 hotels, 27 pharmacies, 23 schools, 21 factories, 73 churches and over a thousand Greek-owned homes were badly damaged or destroyed.[2]

Estimates of the economic cost of the damage vary from Turkish government's estimate of 69.5 million Turkish lira (equivalent to 24.8 million US$[3]), the British diplomat estimates of 100 million GBP (about 200 million US$), the World Council of Churches’ estimate of 150 million USD, and the Greek government's estimate of 500 million US$.[2]

The pogrom greatly accelerated emigration of ethnic Greeks from the Istanbul region, reducing the 200,000-strong Greek minority in 1924 to just over 5,000 in 2005.

name of this airport is unneccessary imo, but it's another idiotic act of Turkish conservative Right Wing Parties ( wich are guilty for every bad thing in Turkey)

though except İstanbul Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen, all airport names are weird. Ankara'a airport is Esenboğa wich is enemy Mongol comander who defeated Ottoman Army at Ankara Battle.

The Pogrom or Menderez's contributions to it is not something we are proud of, nevertheless the extract you posted is uncalled for neoreon. We don't need to be reminded of the unfortunate past but that doesnt mean you should be so irresponsible. I know you like to try to convey the Rum living in Turkey as some sort of super-duper, Yali or business owning race, but zeus-christo, give it a rest will ya? :)

İzmir Adnan Menderes Havalimanı'nda 2003 yılında 37 olan günlük uçuş sayısının 220'ye ulaştı


Havalimanından sorumlu İzmir Vali Yardımcısı Ömer Karaman, yaptığı açıklamada A sınıfı sertifikası olan 3 havalimanından biri olduklarını söyledi. Karaman, iç hatlar yolcu sayısında İstanbul'un ardından İzmir'in ikinci sırada yer aldığını Ankara'nın ise 3. sırada olduğunu belirtti. Adnan Menderes Havalimanı'ndan iç hatlarda 18, dış hatlarda ise 93 ayrı noktaya direkt sefer yapıldığını anlatan Karaman, havalimanının Türkiye'nin batıya açılan kapısı olduğunu ifade etti. Adnan Menderes Havalimanı'nın 5.5 milyon yolcu kapasitesiyle çalıştığını ifade eden Karaman, Aliağa-Menderes hızlı tren seferlerinin başlaması ve Gaziemir'e yapılan son alt geçidin de tamamlanmasıyla yolcu trafiğinin daha da artacağına dikkat çekti.

PİSTLERİMİZİN ONARIMI TAMAM

Havalimanının gerek iç, gerekse dış hatlar yönünden dünya standardında olduğunu belirten Karaman, şöyle konuştu: ''İç hatlarda yolcu taşıma açısından İstanbul'dan sonra ikinci sıradayız. Dış hatlarda ise Antalya, İstanbul ve İzmir ilk üç sırada. 3.5 kilometre uzunluğunda iki ayrı pistimizin onarımı tamamlandı. Yaklaşma alanı diye tarif ettiğimiz cihazlarımız yenilendi. Yaklaşık bir milyon YTL'ye mal olan teknik yenilikler yapıldı. Park alanlarımız, otoparklar, havalimanı içerisindeki trafik güvenliği, dış hatlar binası son derece modern ve dünya standartlarında. Dış hatlarımız yolcu memmuniyetine en iyi hitap eden havalimanları arasında geçtiğimiz ay ödül aldı.'' Adnan Menderes Havalimanı'nda gerek uçak trafiğinde gerekse yolcu sayısında büyük artış yaşandığına dikkat çeken Karaman, ''Son bir ayın rakamlarına göre günlük uçuş sayımız 220 oldu. 2003 yılında bu rakam 37 idi. Geçtiğimiz yıl iç hatlarda 4 milyon dış hatlarda 1 milyon 600 bin yolcu taşıdık. Hedefimiz iç hatlarda 4.5 milyon, dış hatlarda 2 milyon yolcuya ulaşmak. Yolcu sayısında rutin yüzde 25'lik bir artışla yolumuza devam ediyoruz'' diye konuştu.
