ComingtoHouston November 28th, 2004, 08:08 AM Nice shots Texasboy, it's a shame, who's gonna boost Houston/Galveston when you move?

Please don't call it boostin'. Why would I stop mentioning the city? I won't have a better grasp of what is going on in the city, because I can't see it with my own eyes. I will still represent Houston. Miami will be a temporary home for a few years.
Velvetj November 29th, 2004, 06:33 AM Thanks for posting. I haven't been to Galveston for couple of months, I think I will take a stroll down there this weekend. This threat has created a "jones" for a visit.
pwright1 November 29th, 2004, 06:47 AM Great pics Texasboy.
Talbot November 30th, 2004, 01:22 AM I haven't been to Galveston in a few years, I need to go back soon to see everything new that has popped up.

ReggieZ December 3rd, 2004, 12:34 AM I'm not sure, but its part of the University of Texas Medical Branch campus.
STLSportsFan4 December 3rd, 2004, 12:40 AM Galveston looks pretty neat. How far away is it from Houston?
Is there lots of Palm Trees in houston like I see in Galveston?

Galveston is about a 45 minute drive from downtown on Interstete 45.
Houston has a lot of palm trees in the inner city neighborhoods but not outside the city, unless you go to the cities on the coast like Clear Lake, Kemah, Baytown, etc.

Thats cool.
I have some questions about Houston if you or someone else who knows a lot about Houston doesn't mind answering them.
1) Are there a lot of people at the beaches to the south and southeast of Houston or are they somewhat empty?
2) I hear there are like enormous amounts of tornadoes in the Houston area, is this true, and if not are there very many at all if any?
3) How far away from downtown is Reliant Stadium and the new Toyota Center?
4) I hear crime is pretty bad there. Is it really THAT bad, and are there any signs of it starting to improve?
5) Any idea what they are going to do with the old Rockets arena? Tear it down or what?
6) I'm planning on moving. I live in Southern Indiana and I don't like it at all here. I want to move out West, and I have narrowed where I would like to move down to: Phoenix, AZ, Dallas, TX, San Diego, CA, and Houston, TX. Tell me some reasons why I should pick Houston over the others like why Houston would be better.
Thank you for your input and opinions, they help me out a lot :)
ReggieZ December 3rd, 2004, 02:56 AM This is the best I can do.
1. Thousands of people flock to the beaches for holidays such as July 4th, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, Texas Beach Party, etc...
2. Not as many as say the Dallas area ( I believe they are in "Tornado Alley"), but we get hurricanes, we've been lucky for the past 20 years though.
5. The old Summit (Rockets arena) was bought and is being renovated by Lakewood Church.
STLSportsFan4 December 3rd, 2004, 04:02 AM Thanks Reggie... so they are turning the old Summit into a big church?
Regio en USA December 3rd, 2004, 04:46 AM Woowww...really nice shots of Galveston.
I gotta go there sometime soon.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
SEE YA!!!

1.) Traffic is horrible on the sunny weekends in Houston going towards Galveston. I guess people are heading there.
2.) I have never seen a "true" tornado in my life. I have experienced horrible hurricanes and tropical storms.
3.) Reliant Stadium is 7 miles south of downtown(accessible by light rail) and Toyota Center is in downtown.
4.) It's average. Good for a city its size.
5.) The old Rockets arena is under construction to become Lakewood Church.
6.) If cost is not an issue for you I would move to San Diego. Otherwise, I would go to Houston.
lovecharlie August 6th, 2005, 12:45 AM looks like a gorgeous city!
Expat August 6th, 2005, 04:59 AM I have never been to Galveston (or Texas for that matter). But, it really looks beautiful and I want to see it. How far is it from Houston? What time of year is the best?
