A massive construction is under way in copenhagen. On the harbourfront "Nordhavnen" (Close to österbro), more then 2000 apartments, and 200.000 m2 "business area", will be build in the coming years. Just as the project currently underway in the Southharbour, the apartments will be build close to the water, as a so-called canal-city. The sales of apartment and business areas, will help pay for the new metro city ring, currently planed.

In addition to the new city, a new 4 lained road will be build to soften the trafic all over Österbro. 3 sugesstions are being considdered, rainging from 70 million euros for the cheap version, to 200 million euro for the expencive version wich is to consists of several tunnels designed to lead the traffic away from the street. This proposel is atracting a lot of attention because it is the one that will work best with the current residentials and sporting areas, as well as solving the massive noise and polition problems facing the area today.

Cool :) Hopefully they also convert the silos located in the same area to residentials.

I sure hope they'll choose one of the tunnel solutions...
And you're right Vespa, there's some silo-conversion-potential in that area.
Fingers crossed :D

Oh, it would be so great if someone would create a thread called "Danish Projects" or something similar. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*

2,000 new housing in Copenhagen Harbour
29-11-2004

Property and construction:
Outdated and depressing harbour areas in Copenhagen North Habour are to be transformed to a waterfront city after the Dutch example with 2,000 new living-quarters and a floorage of 200,000 square metres for businesses. Moreover, a new four-lane ring line between the harbour and the motorways is to make the increasing traffic in the city easier.

The above is the most important news in a new city development plan for the northeastern part of Copenhagen that Berlingske Tidende reveals today.

The plan, being a part of the government’s package solution for a new metro city ring line for at least 1.8bn euro, proposes the largest building project in Copenhagen Harbour so far. And the revenues from the new waterfront city, which is estimated to 400m euro, will form part of the financing of the future metro project.

Berlingske Tidende has spoken with several investors, city planners and experts on housing who all agree that there will be no difficulties in selling the building sites.
