Listen punk! You can't call me an idiot, ok? Let's get that straight!
Secondly, The team AEK Athens, translated in English means, ATHLETIC UNION OF KONSTANTINOPLE. Although it was robbed from us, Konstantinople is presently in Turkey so you can consider AEK the BEST TEAM IN TURKEY!!!
Sucker! :bash:

Christos7 December 3rd, 2004, 09:38 PM Would you guys stop fucking fighting already!!
ANYWAY.
To our Turkish friends, is there a site I can see Turkish stadia? More preferrebly, the lower teams and general league stadiums. I have seen the top 3-4, but I have always wondered what condition the rest are in. Do you have photos or can point me in the direction?
falconi December 3rd, 2004, 09:39 PM calm down boys
this is a thread about turkish soccer clubs so its not needed to post some clubs of greece (ok i know its is funny)
so your argument with AEK is not very correct because konstantinope so how you know it newer exists
the new cits has the name istanbul so AEK is not a turkish soccer club.
AEK Athen means ATHLETIC UNION OF KONSTANTINOPLE ATHEN ;)
isnt this very funny a club of two cities ;)
it will be better when you call it AEA ATHLETIC UNION OF ATHEN :)
@all,
so be not rude and stay cool ;)

chicagogeorge December 24th, 2004, 09:37 PM You are absolutely right!
Thankfuly sports in America have not come to this (yet). There are big sports rivalries here in American football, baseball, basketball... but in counties in Europe and Latin America, the fans get really crazy over their club. England used to be very bad, but today I think Greece, Turkey, Serbia, and Italy are the worst.
When I was 15 or 16, I was in Greece (1988), I went to several games. One was a derby between Olymiakos (my team) and AEK. I was sitting in the AEK section (staying very quiet) because my cousin who lives in Greece is an AEK fan. I remember the Olympiakos fans were seperated by a section of empty seats and riot police. They were throwing rocks, flares, and oranges with razor blades stuck in them. The AEK fans were doing the same. Then there were fights outside the stadium. It was pretty nuts!

Did you happen to look at the first 10 pics there all from the past three years. Actually, things inside the stadiums this year have been more peaceful, why? Because when two big teams play like Olympiakos and PAO, they will not sell tickets to the visiting teams fans. SO the violence remains outside the stadium. Trust me Christo7, Greek soccer is WAY behind most European countries not only in controling the violence, but getting good officiating, getting political clout out of games, and only now have they started building or rebuilding stadiums. Most Greek teams play on dirt pitches! Why do you think Greek teams have trouble signing young stars from other countries (Rivaldo is not young, niether was Karambe). It's not like Olympiakos or PAO don't have the finances.
I could post more but there' no need. After all this is a Turkish forum about Skyscrapers. :)
Istanbullu December 25th, 2004, 12:59 PM These things unfortunately happen in Greece, Italy and Turkey. We are crazy people. But the situation in Greece is the worst i guess or that's what i see from the pics.

Bullshit. I am an advid follower of Greek football and have been for years. I remember these things also.... yeah take a look at the first few pics, notice how they are the most peaceful? Viloence like the rest of the pics haven't happened in YEARS. Where do you get off presenting our football like that? Give me a break. :bash:
chicagogeorge December 25th, 2004, 09:04 PM First pics are peaceful because NO fans from the visiting team were allowed ticket sales. Kareskaki is a brand new stadium. What the hell do you think would have happened if there were PAO fans there!
LEAFS FANATIC December 25th, 2004, 10:22 PM I will hold my disgust back because it is Christmas today, but all I will say is that by proudly posting these shameful pics, you are just as disgusting as those who partake in this violence.
This is well becoming a thing of the past in Greece. With a new stadium for Olympiakos, new stadiums on the way for AEK and Panathinaikos, and the OAKA, Kaftatzogliou, Pancretan, Volos, and refurbished Toumba stadiums, Greek soccer is quickly on the rise.
If you have crappy venues, then you have crappy fans....
Merry Christmas to all

That's because Greeks were under Ottoman rule for more than 400 years.
The Greek language uses many Turkish words. Listen to our music, it sound very similar to Turkish, nothing like Italian yet we are in between both countries. The same goes for food, probably more similar to Turkish.
Just look at our national heroes, do they look like British, Italian, or Frence people of the 19th century? Hell no they look like middle easterners.

Just look at our national heroes, do they look like British, Italian, or Frence people of the 19th century? Hell no they look like middle easterners. These are your ancestors and they don't look like middle eastern, They look like east mediteranean. Both of them are two different things. When you look at the cloths of Yugoslavian countries and southern Italia and Turkey, maybe understand this difference better.
Also you are wrong about something. You don't use Turkish words because of the Ottoman rule or some of you have Turkish lastnames. If it was true, Bulgarians, Romanians and Arabs would have Turkish lastnames and words too. Also, you can't imagine how many Greek words there are in Turkish language. There were so many nations under the Ottoman rule, but we have only Greek words (except Arabic words). Also if you come here and have some Turkish friends, you don't feel stranger. When you sit at a cafe and watch around you feel in Greece, and ask yourself why these people don't speak Greek... Do you know the reason?
Istanbullu January 3rd, 2005, 09:40 AM There were so many nations under the Ottoman rule, but we have only Greek words (except Arabic words). Also if you come here and have some Turkish friends, you don't feel stranger. When you sit at a cafe and watch around you feel in Greece, and ask yourself why these people don't speak Greek... Not so true. We use many words from French and Italian too...
Tekir January 3rd, 2005, 09:49 AM arabic words come from the religion. However Greek words come from interaction, those things are different. Turks are more close to Persians. Also Turks are close to Greeks. At the same time, Greeks and Persians share too much things. :D
The most interesting thing is arabic civilization has been effected way too much by Persian, Latin and Greek cultures.
Especially Persian one.
For example the word Yunan is called for Greeks in all arabic world. That is because Persians called Greeks as Ionian. Yunan comes from Persian pronounciation of Ionian. Many arabic word has Greek, Roman or Persian roots. :D But the most interesting thing is, proto arabs which are Sumerians, Phoenicians, and Egyptians are the source of Greek, Roman, Persian civilization. That is another topic to discuss...
Arabs were under Persian rule for many centuries. Then Greek occupation came, then Roman occupation came.
Tekir January 3rd, 2005, 09:58 AM Turks were mutated in the Seljuk and Ottoman times.
Seljuks became Persianized, last emperor Sencer, behaved like a Persian...
Ottomans tend to become Greko-Roman.
Turks were successful military people however their cultural background was too small. That is why, Oktay' s conquest of China was ended with the disaster of Turkic assimilation. Maotun (Mete) hessitated to occupy China, Attila feard to occupy Rome, because all were afraid of assimilation.
In the beginning of the 19th century, with the force of French Revolution, Greeks and the several provinces seperated from the empire. THey realised that they were nations. After Ittihat and Terakki movement and Ziya Gokalp, Turks understood that they are also a nation. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, increased the speed of this movement, and Anti-Turkic, Pro-Greco/Roman(in the final centuries, arabized) Ottoman Empire was crashed, and the young Turkish republic was established. We took Turkish names instead of arabic and Persian names. We learned our history, etc...
If Ottomans understood that they were a nation, they would not dare to attack Timurlenk in the beginning of 15th century.
Nevertheless, we are trying to turn back to our Turkish identity but it is too late, too many arabized islamist people are inside us.
