Here are the Norwegian cruise and ferry fleet. There are many, but this is the largest ones....

Color Line

Color Line AS is Norway’s largest and one of Europe’s leading cruise ferry lines, with more than 3,000 employees in four countries and an annual turnover of approx. NOK 4 billion. Color Line has a fleet of ten ships and operates five international ferry lines between eight destinations in Norway, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. The cruise ferry line expects to have the world’s largest cruise ferry in operation between Oslo and Kiel from December 2004. Color Line operates passenger and cargo traffic, hotels, restaurants, shops, entertainment and charter tourism. More than four million guests travel with Color Line every year. The ships also transport 800,000 private vehicles and 139,000 trailer trucks. The Color Hotel Skagen AS in Denmark is an integrated part of the Color Line ferry operation.

M/S Prinsesse Ragnhild

Built in 1981, the M/S Prinsesse Ragnhild was rebuilt ten years later and extended by 33 metres in 1992. The ship is Norway’s longest cruise ferry.

Color Fantasy

This ship will be the world’s largest and – so far – only the cruise class liner equipped with a car deck. Color Fantasy will sail the Oslo-Kiel route from 10th December 2004. The ship which represents a total investment of NOK 2.5 billion and contents a conference center equipped for 850 guests, a 120 meter long shopping and restaurant arcade with 15 restaurants and several night clubs and an exhibition area covering almost 0.4 acre.

M/S Kronprins Harald

The M/S Kronprins Harald entered service on the Oslo-Kiel route in 1987. The ship has a tonnage of 32,000 gross tonnes and is propelled by four engines generating almost 27,000 horsepower, giving a maximum speed of 21.5 knots. The M/S Kronprins Harald can carry up to 1432 passengers and 700 vehicles. The Kiel crossing takes 19 hours.

M/S Color Festival

The M/S Color Festival was purchased from the Silja Line in 1994. It entered service on the Oslo - Hirtshals route on 29 April, after the M/S Christian IV was transferred to the Kristiansand – Hirtshals route. The M/S Color Festival carries up to 2000 guests and 330 vehicles. The ship’s four engines generate 26,400 horsepower, giving a maximum speed of 22 knots.

M/S Peter Wessel

The M/S Peter Wessel sails the Frederikshavn – Larvik route. This ship, named after the famous Norwegian maritime hero Peter Wessel Tordenskiold, is the fourth to bear this name in the company’s history. The current M/S Peter Wessel has served the Larvik – Frederikshavn route since 1984. In 1988, the ship was extended by 22.5 m and underwent an extensive re-build.

The M/S Christian IV sails the Kristiansand –Hirtshals route. The ship was built in 1982, has a length of 153,4 metres and carries up to 1860 guests and 530 vehicles.

F/F Silvia Ana

The F/F Silvia Ana is the world’s second largest single hull fast ferry, with a capasity of 1237 passengers and 200 cars. It has all the facilities necessary to make the 2½-hour crossing a comfortable journey. After finishing your duty free shopping in our shops, you can purchase a meal to take back to your reserved seat.

M/S Color Viking

M/S Color Viking is the largest ferry on the Sandefjord – Strömstad route, with the capacity for 1460 passengers and 340 vehicles. M/S Color Viking has ample restaurants and shopping areas to delight its passengers. The crossing between Sandefjord and Strömstad takes 2.5 hours.

M/S Bohus

Since Color Line acquired M/S Bohus, the ship has undergone extensive refurbishment, and practically all the public areas have been renovated/ upgraded in the past few years. The crossing between Sandefjord and Strömstad takes 2.5 hours, and the ship has the capacity for 1165 passengers and 240 vehicles.

I can add that the 2 1/2 hour ride takes you from Kristiansand (in Norway), to Hirtsals (in Denmark).

If all goes well with my Baltic cruise plans for next summer, I'll take the Color Fantasy from Kiel to Oslo. I've already taken a look at the website, and the price seems reasonable & affordable.
