Here's the thread I posted in the midwestern forum. I was asked to stick it in the Chicago one, so here you go.

Here's some photos I took on my last trip to Chicago. It was last year sometime when Millenium Park was almost complete. Chicago is one of my favorite places to take Black and White Photography, it seems like I always find a new angle or shot, even when I'm walking down a street I have walked down 100 times before.

Great collection there.

The "A man peering out of a window on Rush Street." is pretty freaky, but a good display of the urban scene.

Damn, I gotta visit Chicago one of these days.

Have you never been to Chicago? If not, you must know that those photos did not do any slice of justice to the city.

Nope, never. I did become educated on the city alot through SSC though. Being from NYC, some people ask my why I'd want to visit? I don't really have an answer though. Skyscrapers is one, but it just seems like an appealing place and experience to see.

^no offense, but don't listen to a New Yorker about that. I know, you're a New Yorker too :)

I've spoken to other New Yorkers who think they have no use for a place like Chicago, but it's far from true. Chicago is a completely different city that has its own identity and charm. It just happens to also be a highly centralized city with a lot of skyscrapers, like NYC. Oh, and a finance-oriented city. And it has a large park downtown. With a skating rink. And lots of theatres. And great shopping boulevards. Wait a minute here....hmmm.. Maybe Chicago really is a lot like NYC. Maybe your friends are right!

Well, you can take it from someone who knows and loves both NY and Chicago. While they have ALOT in common, they are also vastly different. It is certainly worthwhile for a person to visit both because they are both so amazing. I'm coming to NY on Friday :))!!!!!!!!!!

At any rate... beautiful shots EastSider! Just one note: the one picture that you have labeled as "scaffolding" is actually a fire-escape :)

Great pics! Thanks....

Not to get picky, but this pic is of an old SRO hotel at 666 N State St. I walk by it on my way to Whole Foods all the time. It is one of the few holdouts from the past (60's to 80's) when there were large areas in the neighborhood with housing like this.

Very nice shots, thanks for posting. I never tire of Marina City shots, and the black and white adds a whole new dimension IMO.
