At least the newer buildings are looking good, especially those two nice glassy Apollo buildings. Indore is waking up too.

indore is quite a good city compared to its size...and its got lots of foreign cars..i saw my 1st jaguars, porche, lexus, limousine's., convertible's.. all in Indore...city is full of rich people..and..its got really good food,,at places like rajwada and chappan ( u dont get vada pav in indore ). but the kachori's n some other stuff, u wont find anywher else in India..thers a lot of new construction going on in Indore, mostly on the northern side, which looks pretty good...like mini gurgaon with malls and multiplexes already open... and btw it has some really beautiful schools..well-known among them is Daly college, which is the 3rd best school in India, after Doon International and Mayo college,Ajmer...
..Hotel Fortune Landmark shown above in the pics is actually the The Taj, Indore..and not Fortune Landmark.
The tallest buildings in Indore are 3 residential buildings in Navlakha al 12 floors. i guess...and believe me indore teenagers are way more modern than ahmedabad and Baroda...

Indore, Dec 20: After stupendous success of Indore city buses, yet another mode of public transport - christened as `Metro taxi' will hit the city roads from Friday. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will formally inaugurate launching of this ultra-modern radio cabs to be known as Metro taxis in the city on Friday.

In the first phase, a total of 100 air-conditioned Maruti SX4 luxury cars have been incorporated in the fleet of Metro taxi. People in the city can avail this public transport system by just making a phone call at the Call Centre which has been set up on the A B Road in front of the MGM Medical College.

Services and location of these Metro taxis fitted with all the modern gadgets, will be monitored through centralized GPS system and it will reach the persons concerned within 10 minutes of the phone call from its respective destinations.

These taxis will be run by ICTSL which presently running Indore city buses. The ICTSL sources informed that tariff of these taxis will be between Rs 10 to Rs 15 per km. After Maruti Van city cabs and Indore city buses, Metro taxis will be the third mode of public transportation in the city. This is for the first time in the central India that Metro taxis will run on GPS system. So far these radio cabs are presently being run in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Poona respectively.

New-Delhi based Starlit Suites, serviced apartment management company, plans to operate its third serviced apartment in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh by November 2010. The upcoming serviced apartment ‘Starlit Suites Baddi’ will have 80 apartments which would either be one bedroom or two bedrooms. The average rate for the apartment will be USD 70-100. Furthermore, as part of its expansion plans, currently the company is in talks with property dealers in Pune and Bengaluru, as well as it is also looking at operating properties in Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Chandigarh, Indore, Visakhapatnam and Goa. The average number of apartments in these locations would be 80-100.

Speaking exclusively with Hospitality Biz, Saurabh Minocha, Managing Director, Starlit Suites said, “Starlit Suites Baddi will cater to business clientele. We are also looking at operating serviced apartments in leisure destinations. Presently, we receive 95 per cent of our bookings through direct sales. However, we are also looking at marketing our products through internet sales and advertising.”

Global hospitality chain Carlson on Sunday said it has opened a new luxury Radisson Hotel in Indore, taking the number of properties it operates in the country to 30. Carlson opened its 30th property, Radisson Hotel, with 201 rooms, at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Carlson tied up with real estate developer Bestech Group for building the hotel, while the US-based hospitality chain will operate it.

The Radisson Hotel Indore is one of four projects Carlson is partnering on with Bestech in the country. Carlson currently manages the Radisson Suites Gurgaon and Park Plaza Noida and will also manage the Radisson Hotel Nagpur, which is scheduled to open in the first half of 2011.

"This hotel opening marks Carlson's accelerated growth in India as part of our Ambition 2015 global growth strategy to expand our portfolio by at least 50 per cent by 2015 to more than 1,500 hotels in operation," Carlson Hotels (South Asia) Executive Vice-President KB Kachru told PTI.

NEW DELHI: Japanese tyre maker Bridgestone Corporation today said it is investing Rs 170 crore at its factory in Indore to manufacture truck and bus radial tyres by May next year.

The company said it is witnessing increased demand for truck and bus radial tyres (TBRs) in India which has prompted it to start local manufacturing, instead of importing in small quantities from Japan.

"Currently, we are importing TBRs from Japan and enjoy about five per cent share. The plan is to start manufacturing TBRs at the Indore facility by May next year," Bridgestone India Managing Director Hiromi Tanigawa told media.

He said the investment of Rs 170 crore is being made for setting up a new line at the existing facility that currently manufactures passenger car tyres.

सोमवार सुबह महापौर कृष्णमुरारी मोघे, जनकार्य समिति प्रभारी जवाहर मंगवानी, निगमायुक्त योगेंद्र शर्मा, एन.एस. तोमर व सिटी इंजीनियर हंसकुमार जैन ने सड़कों के काम की समीक्षा की। बाद में तय हुआ कि फरवरी अंत तक अधिकांश बन चुकी सड़कों का लोकार्पण कर दिया जाए।

नौलखा बस स्टैंड (नौलखा कॉम्प्लेक्स के पास) को शिफ्ट करने की दिशा में प्रशासन ने महत्वपूर्ण कदम बढ़ाया है। तय किया गया है कि बस स्टैंड को राजीव गांधी प्रतिमा सर्कल के पास शिफ्ट करके रिक्त करीब 65-70 हजार वर्गफीट जमीन बेची जाए। इससे जो आय होगी, पहला हिस्सा नया बस स्टैंड बनाने और शेष भाग चाचा नेहरू हॉस्पिटल के विकास में लगाया जाए।

सोमवार को चाचा नेहरू हॉस्पिटल के विकास कार्यों की समीक्षा में इस महत्वपूर्ण प्रस्ताव पर सहमति बन गई। संभागायुक्त बसंतप्रताप सिंह ने आईडीए सीईओ चंद्रमौलि शुक्ला के प्रस्ताव पर जल्द अमल करने के निर्देश दिए।

Indore: The Indore Development Authority (IDA) has asked the railway to submit a detailed report of the plan finalised for the construction of the new railway station near MR-10 Bridge.

The site proposed for the new railway station is a piece of 300 acre of land near Kurmedi village.

The authority wants that first some final decision be taken on the plan for the new station, following which other needs of the railway will be considered.

After the request of the IDA to establish the new railway station, the Western Railway Ratlam rail division had proposed to install new link line.

Following this, the railway had asked the authority to allot land along the Super Corridor for the new link line to connect the Indore-Dewas broad-gauge line and the Indore-Ratlam rail line.

IDA CEO Chandramauli Shukla has now written to the railways asking them to prepare a final plan for the new railway station.

However, the railway believes that once the link line issue is resolved, the proposal can be forwarded strongly to the ministry.

“Indore is on the run-way of development and is ready to take off and now, nobody can stop it,” said Vijayvargia.

Parliamentarian Sumitra Mahajan said that Indore was a mini Mumbai only for namesake before but now it has truly earned the label.

Indore: If the plans of the Indore Development Authority (IDA) is approved by the concerned authorities, the city will soon have a sports complex having international standard facilities.

The IDA has plans of developing a mega sports complex with seating capacity of 50 to 75 thousand spectators.

According to sources, the IDA has plans to come with the sports complex on 100 acre land and it has already acquired plots in Bangrada and scheme-151, 169-B and 170.

The main stadium of the complex will be constructed in such a way that it will play a multi-dimensional role providing space for sports like cricket, hockey, football. A separate stadium of athletes will also come up at the mega sports complex.

The IDA will be working on the project in accordance with the international standards.

Talking to Bhaskar News, IDA’s assistant architectural planner Vijay Marathe said that apart from a table tennis arena, a lawn tennis court will also be constructed in the sports complex.

“According to the standard that we have set, the sports complex will envelope a multi-purpose hotel, conference center, theatre, retail center, office spaces and visitors center,” Marathe said.

He added that that the IDA is also planning to construct a sports museum in the state-of-the-art sports complex.

Indore: International tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi’s company, Globosport, has shown interest in establishing a sports complex in Indore.

The company has also been invited for the investors’ conference to be organised by the Indore Development Authority on June 24-25.

The event is being organised to initiate some big projects in the city on the lines of public-private partnership.

Besides working in Australia, Bhupathi’s company has also worked in Kolkata, Chennai and Ranchi National Games on earlier occasions.

In addition to these, Globosport had also played an active role in developing the infrastructure for the national games in Pune.

Apart from furnishing these details about Globosport, IDA’s assistant planner Vijay Marathe said that over 100 national and international companies from the infrastructure sector had been invited for the conference.

He further said that the response of almost all the companies had been positive.

Some of the big companies slated to attend the conference are US-based Trans Stadia, Reliance Infrastructure, Tata Realty, L&T and GMR.

Indore: The city may soon join an elite group of cities across the world—Shanghai, Paris and Venice to name a few—with a tramway public transport system.

The city is all set for the new system— comprising trams moving on rubber tyre axles instead of wheels of steel— with a French firm willing to execute the project.

The firm, Lohr Industries, will provide technical support to Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd (TRIL) for construction of the much-awaited tramway system in Indore.

A team from Lohr team visited the city on Thursday to study the project and prepare a feasibility report.

"We expect to get the report by next month," Indore Development Authority (IDA) CEO Chandramouli Shukla told DNA.

TRIL managing director and CEO Sanjay Ubale had expressed interest in the project and had sent an offer letter to the IDA last month.

"TRIL required technical support for the project and had roped in TransLohr. The latter has unparalleled expertise," Shukla added.

Translohr trams, with two driver cabins on both ends to assist reversibility, have been chosen as the means of public transport in Clermont-Ferrand (France), Shanghai (China), Venice (Italy), North Paris and a host of other cities.Internationally, the Translohr trams have been acclaimed as a cost-effective, safe and noise-free means of travel.

The IDA has given the French company the contract of making a blueprint of the tram project — the 19-km tram line would extend from airport to the Indore bypass via the Super Corridor and MR-10. Three hundred people could travel in a tram at a time.

TRIL wants to build the tramline on a PPP (Public Private Partnership) or a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model and it will be given two months for a techno feasibility of the project so that it can come up with a better and more concrete proposal.

The Bangalore-based Indian multi-national has shown its intent to start 'a mega project' in the city after the word spread about the state government's sops to TCS and its eagerness in paving way for the Rs 1000 crore project proposed by the IT company.

A team of Infosys officials visited the city in the first week of September and took stock of the land available for its proposed project. They studied the facilities the government plans to provide at the Crystal IT Park and the Super Corridor.

"The discussion is at the preliminary stage. Nothing could be said regarding it at this juncture, but Infosys did carry out a preliminary survey, said a senior district officer.
Infosys is yet to reveal its plans for Indore and communicate with the state's information technology department.
Principal Secretary Information and Technology, Deepak Khandekar told DNA, "I am yet to receive any intimation from Infosys about its plans. I am not aware of the company officials visiting the city."
The software major has been eyeing tier-II cities for its expansion even as the global economy shows signs of depression.
A few weeks ago, Infosys executive co-chairman S Gopalakrishnan had announced the comapny's plans to go to Tier-II cities .

Germany based leading luxury car maker Audi is now aggressively planning to expand its operations in the Indian auto market, especially in smaller cities and towns. The company is eyeing to capitalize on the high growth potential in smaller cities, so that it can boost its market share and become the second largest luxury car maker in the country.

The company has recently launched a new dealership in Ludhiana, which will be followed by a dealership in Lucknow, Surat, Coimbatore, and Indore soon. The company plans to roll-out cars from these upcoming dealerships by next year. The firm will take the total number of its dealerships to 25 by the end of next year.

It is to be mentioned here that Audi India plans to become the largest luxury car maker in the Indian auto market by year 2015. The expansion of dealership network has been done to provide a strong distribution network to its upcoming volume segment offerings like Q3 SUV and smaller sedan A3.

Speaking to reporters in the National Capital, Audi India head Michael Perschke said, "There have been some good years, and we are planning to get right products to generate volumes and meet customer expectations.” He added, "While other players in the Indian market are reviewing their targets downward, we are confident that we will exceed our target of 5,000 units this year."

The firm and its dealer partners aim to increase their manpower by 600 people by the end of next year. So far, the firm has invested over 30 million euros in its India operations.

INDORE: The city will have its own full fledged auto test track by the end of next year. The National Automotive Testing Centre is being developed on 4140 acres of land in Pithampur by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP), which works under union ministry of heavy industries and public enterprises.

The work on the Rs 500cr project, which began in September last year, is in full swing and likely to be completed by December (2012).

Apart from some of the major automotive companies which were having their own testing centres, the union government was already having its own national centre under the ministry of defence for automotive testing at Ahmednagar on 450 acre, having 17 different tracks. The idea behind choosing Pithampur for the testing centre was its ideal location.

Forthcoming Indore facility, which will be known as National Automotive Test Track (Natrax), will act as a development test centre under which the vehicle manufacturers will go for comprehensive development testing so as to carry out performance evaluation and assess the durability before sending them to market.

Talking to ToI, Dr N Karuppaiah, additional director who is supervising work at the site said, "On being operational, the will give employment to about 250 people". The Indore facility was being developed along with two other such facilities in the country at places like Chennai and Manesar, near Gurgaon.

But, unlike the Indore facility, the two other facilities were being developed as homologation centres where vehicles are tested for certifying purposes, said Karuppaiah. Once operational, the Indore facility will be able to test even the high-end sports vehicles that can run at a speed of 250 km/hr to 350 km/hr. We have included this facility by keeping future requirement in mind, said Karupaiah.

Having gone through the ups and downs of land acquisition for IT majors TCS and Infosys, now the state government is all set to roll out the red carpet for another IT major. Sources claim that the new entrant in the coveted list of IT bigwigs establishing base at Indore could be either HCL or Oracle.

The state government in the recent past is busy transforming Indore as the new IT hub of the country. The state already has assured 100-acre land to TCS and Infosys each on subsidised rates.

Quizzed on the issue of formal MoUs to be signed with TCS and Infosys after undertaking the process of land registries, industry minister Kailash Vijayvergiya said the state government had given letters to these companies, which was sufficient for applying for the SEZ status.

“There is no need for separate MoUs with these companies,” claimed the minister. When asked about the deadline on which the IT giants would be handed over the land, the minister said that formalities are completed and the companies could be handed over the land whenever they ask for it.

The minister, however, refused to comment on the next prospective investor slated to establish foothold in Indore. However, highly placed sources in the state government are claiming that third company is due to establish base at Indore shortly. This third major project could be from the HCL or from hardware and software manufacturer Oracle.

With most of the established IT hubs of the country nearing saturation, most of the IT companies are heading towards tier II cities. Indore with its strategic location and availability of skilled manpower has emerged as the most favourable destination among tier II cities.

The state had organised a road show in Hyderabad last December and close to 80 prominent hardware and software developers had held discussions with the state government officials.

Indore: After IT giant Tata Consultancy Service Ltd's project in Indore was granted Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status by the union ministry of commerce on January 24, another IT major Infosys' project is likely to get the same status by the end of February or early March this year.

Sources said that non-availability of land was a major issue due to which Infosys could not apply for the SEZ status before January 24. Now that the land acquisition issues have been resolved and the company was going to sign memorandum of understanding (MoU) with state government on January 31, decks have been cleared for the IT major to enable it to get the special status.

"The next board of approval meeting for granting SEZ status will be held in February end or March first week and it is likely that Infosys will get SEZ status ", development commissioner, Madhya Pradesh, A K Rathore said.

The state government had approved the land allotment to the companies and the Cabinet decision was forwarded to the companies through e- mail along with a draft of MoU.

These companies had returned the MoU with suggestions for changes which had been incorporated by the government.

Indore: With the growing demand of land from IT companies from both within and outside the state, the state government would develop a new hub of around 1,000 acre of land and would offer concession on land to these companies.

"Apart from TCS and Infosys, other companies like Wipro and Oracle have also evinced interest in investing in Indore and the project reports of these companies is also positive," industry minister Kailash Vijayvergiya told scribes on Tuesday.

The minister claimed that this would generate a land requirement of around 1,000 acre on super corridor and the divisional commissioner Prabhat Parashar has been directed to check the land viability.

Vijayvergiya revealed that after major IT players, smaller units of the states are also demanding concessions for their projects and the state government is seriously pondering over this.

Collector Raghvendra Singh also present on the occasion said that indigenous companies like Suvi and Impetus have also contacted the state government for their new projects.

According to sources, the Indore Development Authority would develop a new scheme in the vicinity of super corridor and later the hub would be handed to the IT department of the state government.

Earlier it was planned that the IDA would directly hand over the developed land to IT companies but later it was revealed that these companies would also be required to be given land as per state government policies, so that plan was altered.

It is worth mentioning that with the growing demand of land, the existence of proposed medical hub has plunged into uncertainty. The medical hub also is expected to come up on 500 acres on the super corridor.

Apart from 230 acre of land provisioned for TCS and Infosys, these companies would require around 177 acre of additional land in future.

INDORE: Indore Divisional BSNL will set up 30 mobile towers in Indore city for better connectivity.

A latest survey by BSNL found that there was a very poor connectivity due to private operators' towers erected at many places in the city, its spokesman Shyam Yadav said in a statement here.

Besides private operators, the high-rise buildings and multi-flats were also found to be another reason for poor connectivity, he said.

Thirty locations have been identified to erect new towers and the work would start soon, he said.
