View Full Version : Mega Metro Manila Malls
Its not art. Its arte-artehan!
stanleymalls September 23rd, 2008, 06:30 PM ^^ Oh. Thanks for the info po! :master:

sm nga talaga yung last station ng lrt7...
i think ipapasok nila yung station inside the mall...
kanina paguwi ko galing sm north...
no effect yung sidewalk widening nila sa public transport terminal...
sm sta. ana? never heard about it.

:) but it makes sense since former racetracks are
vast tracts of land which are suitable for building gigamalls.

evilgenius15 September 24th, 2008, 11:36 AM ^^ sarap sirain, hahaha...
more curves!!!
Waldenstrom September 24th, 2008, 11:40 AM ^^ sarap sirain, hahaha...
ako masarap sipain? HAHAHAHA
adverg September 24th, 2008, 11:45 AM I am looking forward sa atin ma may magdesign ng mall na may mga hanging mid bridge in between hallways of every floors then say 6 storey with skylight curve roofing, tall palm trees at ground floor with landscaping and waterfalls in the middle of the lobby with oen restos and seating and alternate exposed lift car like tube type with glass panels, I think if this was done, this would be very grand something like here the "The Gardens" in Malaysia. But as far as I can see, we can create much better than it, hope I can proposed.....
adverg September 24th, 2008, 11:58 AM The only thing I dont like with this design, as you can see, the architect did not anticipate the strip design of the wall in relation to the location of the advertisement board, when advertisement board was already in place, you can see, some of the horizontal red strip wall design was cover up already with this advertisement panels. You can compare those facades without the panels and after the panels was in place already, the facade becomes messy already.
adverg September 24th, 2008, 12:00 PM Wah it seems you are genius in reverse, hehehehhe.....
hirolionheart September 24th, 2008, 12:12 PM dapat glass tapos may rooftop, para astig...
more curves!!!
Oo nga, more curves or waves na rin, hehehe^_^
adverg September 24th, 2008, 12:16 PM @ hirolionheart,
evilgenius15 September 24th, 2008, 12:18 PM Wah it seems you are genius in reverse, hehehehhe.....

kaso...
Oo nga, more curves or waves na rin, hehehe^_^
matutuwa talaga ako kung puro glass, or at least hindi talaga box, hehehe...

hirolionheart September 24th, 2008, 12:18 PM @ hirolionheart,

OT: Talaga?
Magkababayan pala tayo eh, hehehe
Sa Guitnang Bayan 2 naman ako^_^

evilgenius15 September 24th, 2008, 12:35 PM Ano yung kaso...?

evilgenius15 September 24th, 2008, 04:37 PM ^^
a friend of mine told me long time ago, there will be some time na sa sobrang dami na
population nalang ng mall yung magbabago, not necessarily yung profit, unless
adverg September 25th, 2008, 03:52 AM Sige gumawa ka rin sa San Mateo, para mapakita mo yung 9 waves sa ampid, at I think there are potentials issues need to highlight about the developement of San Mateo, thanks again...

That user might have thought that each topic deserves it's own post. Well, newbies are bound to commit violations, each and everytime, like me
Anyway, the footbridge is located before you make a right to West Ave. in EDSA Northbound connecting to The Garden. It is right next to the 15 year old stone foorbridge which makes this new one 100% redundant. :(
WE should expect it to be pink and blue. Pink because Bayani wants the city to bloom in "the pink of health" and blue symbolizing MMDA.
If the footbridge we're to be built by SM themselves, and it's also pink, then we now have the right to complain.
P.S. Do not repeat the same mistake again or you'll get "the whipping"

stanleymalls September 26th, 2008, 12:58 PM Ayan. Kakaupdate ko lang nung Wednesday. Kaya meron nanaman ako.
As of now, undergoing ang cladding installation sa ilang parts ng mall.
Hindi ko makuhanan yung back part kasi wala akong time. And I hope meron. Kasi if you will view at the back of SM Fairview, you will see Eastwood, Ortigas and Makati on a single panorama. Ang ganda!:banana::banana:

I've read some news, Philstar ata, October,, If I'm not mistaken.
^^ Yup. October.
The Mega-expansion is called "The Atrium".
Expansion Plans
The 16,000 square meter addition to the existing Megamall is located over Dona Julia Vargas Avenue, and when completed will fully bridge the gap between Mega A and B. With Megamall being a linear development that spans more than half a kilometer, the Atrium is envisioned to be a center of respite and relaxation. Its strategic central location provides a convenient stop for mall visitors to relax and literally catch their breath while enjoying shopping at upmarket stores and dining at specialty restaurants. Upscale retail shops and restaurants are planned around a circular atrium with an area of 452 square meters. Access to the center is designed to offer an air of drama and surprise. Off the existing bridgeway, the visitor approaches the center through a low ceiling hallway that widens towards the cylindrical skylight. Dynamic non-concentric circles on the floor are achieved with the application of yellow tiles of carried hues. An equally dynamic skylight design matches the non-concentric circles in the floor. The curved patterns ripple out beyond the atrium area on both floors and ceilings to great consistency and harmony to the general look of the center. The deep end of fifth level of the SM Megamall Atrium will be the site of the 1, 585 square meter Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord. This grand chapel with a separate adoration chapel has a modern design with the Eucharistic as the focal point. This is highlighted in the neo-classical retablo or altar with the crucified Christ at the center, which is in sharp contrast to the modern theme of the rest of the chapel. The color scheme of the area is earth inspired with a neutral palette. Finishes are similar to stones used in the Roman times, which gives the chapel a structurally sound impression with a soft and warm approach. Wood in its natural oil finish is the most common material, which will be used in the chapel. With the addition of the Atrium, the rear building facade is treated to be harmonious with the recently complete exterior makeover in which an extra feature cube of perforated aluminum panels are added to replace the existing Megastrip sign boxes. The Atrium will be an exciting addition to the 330,000 square meter SM Megamall which is one of the world's largest malls. Megamall, which opened in 1991, is said to have spearheaded the mailing phenomenon in the Philippines with its size, world class designs and new concepts including an Ice Skating Rink, the Artwalk and Art Center, and the Megatrade Hall. The SM Megamall Atrium's design team includes Arquitectonica, Mall Designer, w.v. Coscolluela and Associates, Architects; Monolith Construction and Development Corporation, General Contractor; and DA Abcede and Associates, Project Manager. It is scheduled to open on October 2008.
stanleymalls September 26th, 2008, 06:14 PM ^^ Arquitectonica. The Ultimate SM Architect.
By the way, bakit ang hilig nilang gumamit ng non-concentric circles?

Sinjin P. September 27th, 2008, 04:53 AM ^ Siguro TriNoma is better than all SM Malls  Sobrang naapektuhan siguro ang mga Sy nang maungusan ng TriNoma ang best performing mall nila which is SM City North EDSA (in terms of what? Movie ticket sales lang? Pedestrian traffic?)
ona September 27th, 2008, 06:08 AM ^^TriNoma is really the new frontier for Ayala because of the blockbuster ticket sales & foot traffic. It is probably the most succesful Ayala already and its barely over 1 year in operation. I expect TriNoma to expand further & it will spearhead the QC Triangle Park. The response of SM is expansion of SM NoE making it even bigger in terms of GA than their flagship Mall of Asia. 2009 SM NoE will reclaim its title as largest phil. mall after it was dislodged by Mega back in 1991.

Ibig sabihin lang nito ay napaka-matagumpay talaga ng TriNoma, with its new architectural/lanscaping/interior design (bagong timpla para sa makabagong henerasyon ng mga mall ngayon) at pati sa mabenta nilang ticket sales ng mga sinehan, hehehe^_^
cq40 September 27th, 2008, 02:24 PM Correct, lahat nalang, TriNoma, eh meron naman Mall Of Asia
Well, TriNoma is very much unique in many ways. Setting the malling "standard" to an even higher level. Which really makes us consumers the real winner versus whoever is left behind between the SM North-TriNoma war
ona September 27th, 2008, 02:38 PM ^^Kaya TriNoma lang kinukumpara kasi based sa tagline ng SM Mall of Asia - "No Other Mall Comes Close". flymordecai September 28th, 2008, 05:03 AM Too many ads plastered on the malls/buildings in the Philippines. I hope businesses/advertisers find other means of advertising, or at least decrease the number of ads they post on the building facade. You will hardly see the facade of a mall/boutique in Ginza marred a huge banner ad because the Japanese appreciate the architecture.

It's only appropriate that they don't build a very big one. Is the Ever being referred to the one near Talon, Las Piñas? Then it's in the vicinity of SM Southmall.

philip_v September 28th, 2008, 05:13 AM Yup I agree that it should only be a Supercenter since business in SM Southmall is not that good, as evidenced by a lot of unleased space.

hirolionheart September 28th, 2008, 05:42 AM Too many ads plastered on the malls/buildings in the Philippines. I hope businesses/advertisers find other means of advertising, or at least decrease the number of ads they post on the building facade. You will hardly see the facade of a mall/boutique in Ginza marred a huge banner ad because the Japanese appreciate the architecture.

SM MEGAMALL
It would be better if SM will put a Sky Garden infront of SM Megamall. It will compensate the lack of parks and greeneries in Ortigas. :)
stanleymalls September 28th, 2008, 06:57 AM Bwahahaha! I dream that Ever-Commonwealth would somehow someday change ownership to either Ayala, SM or even Robinson. But I guess that won't happen since this is one of the more lucrative Ever Malls.

Tingin ko maganda yan pero kailangan nating tignan ang demand for such a development.
stanleymalls September 28th, 2008, 08:54 AM ^^ True. SM NoE had to do it because of competition. And they also had to revamp the whole mall given that it started the Mall Fever sa Pinas and the oldest mall sa Pinas.

alexcerado September 28th, 2008, 09:50 AM i hope SM won't put another sky garden in megamall, or any sm mall. mas maganda para unique ang sm north, and besides, sm megamall pa rin ang nakakaungos sa mandaluyong kahit kaharap ng rustans at shang at malapit sa rob-galleria. atsaka bakit ba over sa expansion and renovation ang sm sa mall of asia and sm cebu? eh wala naman silang kalaban, kahit na sabihing may ayala cebu eh sm cebu pa rin ang nangungunang mall sa cebu. sorry sa mga cebuano at mga taga pasay, pero sa tingin ko lang ay dapat talaga sm north ang pagtutuunan ng pansin ng SM lalo na at merong trinoma.

Excuse me. They are 50 years in the business already! They know what they're doing. Dahil nag-expand sila dito sa Cebu, it just means na matindi ang kalaban and may demand talaga for expansion. ;)
SM has the money, hindi nila kailangang pagtuunan ng pansin ang iisang mall lang dahil pwede naman nilang pagsabayin ang kanilang nais na mangyari.

Ady001 September 29th, 2008, 05:42 AM ^ Siguro TriNoma is better than all SM Malls  Sobrang naapektuhan siguro ang mga Sy nang maungusan ng TriNoma ang best performing mall nila which is SM City North EDSA (in terms of what? Movie ticket sales lang? Pedestrian traffic?)
I find TriNoma beautiful pero the lighting doesn't complement with its brownish interiors. I believe na mas OK siya when compared to Glorietta because it is brown new. However, after a few visits, I've already been a bit "tired" of it...
I might find waiting for Abreeza... Just a year now...

Tama ka dyan. SM will only improve there mall as needed pero the degree of improvement will vary as necessary. I think SM spent the most for expansion of SM NoE (New 6 story Annex with SkyGarden, Cladding of the facade of all mall Buildings, New Garden Structure above front Parking, I-Max Theatre, probable interior modification of the main building). SM City Cebu will also extensive expansion (Northwing & I-Max theatre). SM Fairview (New Annex) & SM Mega (Atrium). SM does improve its malls but it depends on the ferocity of competition.
But based on observation, the competition of TriNoma vs. SM NoE is much fiercer than SM Cebu & Ayala mainly because their fighting over a bigger market there in QC (SM NoE is known to have the biggest foot traffic & ticket sales NATIONWIDE yet TriNoma is surging ahead recently) plus there malls are literally separated by only a few meters. Kung baga SM NoE vs. TriNoma is the national competition & SM Cebu vs. Ayala cebu is super-regional competition.
cq40 September 29th, 2008, 08:15 AM When it comes to Design, Maganda ang TriNoma Period! Wala nang kokontra pa epal lang eh
Almost every angle is picture perfect, the lines, the color schemes the shadows of their lighting gives that unique one of a kind look and feel found only in the Triangle North of Manila/Makati/Metro Manila . But it's not perfect, it also has it's flaws, like nakakahilo sa first visit, maze at masikip ang parking, medyo claustrophobic DAW ang higher levels, hindi malamig, may namatay, may defects blah blah..Matataranta bang mag expand ang SM North EDSA kung hindi sya humahakot (ng mga may perang panggastos na customer?)
Meron pa bang ibang mall (from other chains) na kamukha or mas maganda pa sa TriNoma dito sa Pilipins para magmukha syang pangit or nakakasawa? (no offense) Hello, eh wala pa nga sa kalingkingan nyan ang itsura ng mga bahay nyo noh   SM nga may Mall Of Asia pero minsan lang sila mai-compare, because they have their own looks. So sa mga nagsasabing pangit ang TriNoma (no offense again) it's either malabo ang mata nyo or kau ang pangit!
P.S.
Some forumers should stop talking about malls if they don't know the topic to start  like for example, SM North EDSA is NOT the Oldest Mall :)
Anyway let me shower you with this photo:
[to be updated]
ona September 29th, 2008, 08:28 AM Agree on that. It seems though that TriNoma is more commonly compared in SCC kasi sa mga masa SM MoA ang usually ikinukumpara nila.

Naisip mo noong baka i-demolish? Why? Didn't you think it was possible to give it a brand-new look "beyond recognition" without demolishing it? That's a big structure, housing the department store, supermarket, foodcourt, 8 cinemas, and a mall spread on a total of 4-levels. Demolishing it and building a new one would take time, money, and not to mention the disruption of mall operations and a drastic drop in their leasable area which would equate to lost rental opportunities for them. Considering that they still have vacant lots within the complex, that's not really a sound business idea because they can just build additional buildings on their vacant lots.

feistyradical September 29th, 2008, 12:13 PM I wish they'll demolish the main SM NoE building - construct a new one and add more floors. Luma na talaga. Hindi na maganda ang ambiance. They should make the flooring similar to that of The Block.

These were also the tiles used to coat out the exterior of SM Fairview A2.
Oo nga pala. Wala akong updated na pics.
Pero ito ang gradual changes.
There is now a roof that connects A1 to A2.
The caldding installation are still on-going.
Back part of the mall has many activities going on.
Mukhang magiging malaki ito for sure. Kasi may BPO na sila sa loob.
And they should compliment the back of the mall with a Trinoma-like garden, then al-fresco dining at night.
That would really make it a destination.

Anyway, based on my insider from SM Cebu, ang average daily traffic ng SM Cebu ay nasa 300,000 na so it may be second or third to SM North in terms of pedestrian traffic already. ;)
Where did you get your figures? SM MoA gets 300,000 pedestrians on weekdays and it can get to as high as 500,000-1,000,000 on weekends/holidays. ;)

Tapos sa loob may garden at water features pa. thomasian September 30th, 2008, 08:24 PM ^^ Thanks for the pics! :D
Mas maganda kung wala sanang flash kasi nasisira yung intended na atmosphere nung design, and the flash totally clashes with the warm lighting of the place. Kung naka automatic yung cam mo, mas maliwanag sana yung pics mo kung naka set sa off yung flash because the camera will automatically compensate for the lack of flash by using a longer exposure for the shot.
I tried fixing one of your pics...

SM Sta. Mesa

They're now constructing ACE Hardware and Office Warehouse stores at the foodcourt. ACE would be occupying the west end of the foodcourt area while Office Warehouse would be on the north corner.
What remains of the foodcourt is like about half to a third of the original tenants. But at least the area had a facelift reminiscent of the updated look of the Megamall Foodcourt.
It's about time they add Ace Hardware to SM Sta Mesa as it's now the only SM mall without it. Even smaller Supercenters and stand-alone department stores now have an ACE.

At saka late response yung Sky Garden sa TriNoma Garden. Either way I think mas engrande itong "The Garden" kasi mas malawak kaso lang mas serene naman "Sky Garden" kasi malayo sa roadside.

Wala pa nga sa rendering yung "Sky Garden" bt I'm already impressed by the size of SM NoE's "The Garden". I'm pleased about the greening of our malls.
ona October 1st, 2008, 06:04 AM Tama, the Garden feature of SM NoE will extend almost the whole mall length.

The Southmall is surrounded by residential areas and it isn't a touristy area. The traffic jams associated with Zapote Road and the distance from main business district could have been some of the deterrence. Maybe later when things improve. :)
I feel that SM Megamall should have a hotel though. And the integration of a hotel in the structure ought to further break the monotony of the horizontal design.
ona October 1st, 2008, 08:48 AM TriNoma can still compete kasi hecta-hectaryang lupa ang pwede nilang bilhin sa QC Triangle Park. At pwede nilang tapatan ang park ng SM by utilizing the open parking adjacent SM NoE. Kung baga this is just the beginning...
stanleymalls October 1st, 2008, 10:49 AM ^^ But I think the adjacent lot to Trinoma will be one of the lands used to construct the QC-CBD. I read in a news article that SM already bought the available lands behind them, like the Golden Acres, QC-SHS, and other structures na nasa likod ng mall.
Height was also one.

Official figures as of 2008 from SM & Ayala land:
KUNG GROSS LEASABLE AREA ang basis these are the largest malls:
1. Glorietta - 250,000 sq.mts

ona October 1st, 2008, 11:56 AM Agree din ako dyan...Anyway Ayala is not really after being the Largest like SM although may probability na mas malalaki malls nila. The Golden Acres is under the DSWD and based on a documentary program that I was able to see on Channel 7, they plan to move it to Tanay, Rizal where buildings are already on the works. Some sectors are against the transfer even though the Tanay center would have modern and more spacious facilities. It is also more conducive to rest as the environment is quieter and unpolluted. Some employees and their families are against it because they would not be able to make the transfer. Some NGOs are also complaining Tanay is not that accessible and may hamper the frequency of visits and services they are extending to the elderly.

Mas hiwa-hiwalay nga ibang SM kasi may annex. If that's the case should we consider SM megamall or North Edsa as different malls kasi hiwa-hiwalay bldgs. at connected lang ng bridgeway. Glorietta's 1-4 aren't connected by bridgeways so 1 mall lang talaga ito.

ona October 1st, 2008, 12:29 PM ^^nakita mo na ba yung roofing ng New Annex? Kasi based sa previous press statements ng SM hiwalay ang "The Garden" sa "SkyGarden". Massive: The SM Mall of Asia, in Manila's Pasay City, is said to be almost as large as Vatican City
If you've run out of overseas shopping destinations, it's time to consider the Philippines.
It's just a 3-hour flight away and has enough mega malls that offer everything from designer brands to gorgeous handicrafts.
Malls are very popular with the Filipinos who spend most of their weekends 'malling'.
The mega mall culture doesn't necessarily mean you have to buy anything. 'Malling' refers to the act of window shopping or whiling away the hours inside a mall.
Colossal scale
According to a Reuters report, two of the world's largest shopping centres are based in the Philippines' capital, Manila.
A Nielsen Media Research report found that around 80 per cent of the Philippines' population go to shopping centres.
Around 36 million people visit shopping plazas once or twice a month. This despite over 40 per cent of the country's 90 million people living on US () or less per day, according to Reuters.
According to Mr Chris Balberona, a driver for a bank: 'People just come to the mall to stay cool. Life is hard right now so we don't really come here to shop.'
The air-conditioned malls are a boon in this steamy tropical nation. Catholic masses are even held in the corridors of some malls.
At the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City - a whopping 2 million sq ft property - you can find just about anything to suit your shopping, dining and entertainment desires.
Said to be the size of Vatican City, this mall is made up of four buildings linked by walkways. The entertainment centre offers a panoramic view of world famous Manila Bay.
The centre also houses 10 theatres including the country's first IMAX theatre, and the country's first Olympic-sized skating rink.
Then, there's Makati, the country's glitzy business and financial hub. Makati's Ayala Centre consists of popular, upmarket department stores such as Glorietta, Quad and Landmark.
For a varied shopping experience, there's market shopping. In Bonifacaio Global City, also in metro Manila, you'll find fresh fruit, flowers, vegetables and seafood at the market.
And like the snazzier malls, this area also offers a one-stop shop concept, with bazaars selling fashion, home and technology items. A hawker's area allows visitors to pause from the shopping frenzy and sample the best food and other specialties of the Philippines.
GETTING THERE: There are several daily flights to Manila from Singapore, and it takes about a 3- hour flight. Besides major carriers, budget airlines like Jetstar and Tiger Airways also fly to Manila.
ona October 1st, 2008, 12:40 PM The Philippines has probably the largest mall-to-people ratio.
hirolionheart October 1st, 2008, 12:40 PM Is this separate "The Garden" and "Sky Garden" thingie for real? Because I'm still not buying it. Sino nga ba unang nagsabi nun? I still believe that there's only the Sky Garden, the 400-meter long one infront of the Main Mall and The Block.

Ang alam ko rin tungkol dito ay hiwalay ang "Sky Garden" sa bagong Annex at "The Garden" stretching in front of the main mall and The Block.

I think SM is improving the standards of their new malls as evidence of SM MoA, SM Cebu Northwing, SM Marikina & this SM NoE relaunch.

cq40 October 1st, 2008, 07:31 PM Is this separate "The Garden" and "Sky Garden" thingie for real? Because I'm still not buying it. Sino nga ba unang nagsabi nun? I still believe that there's only the Sky Garden, the 400-meter long one infront of the Main Mall and The Block.
And as far as I know, only about a third, or less than a third of The Annex will be having a roofdeck that can support such garden, the roofdeck of the parking building, the rest are plain roofs supported on metal girders so nothing can be built on top of it.
There's a big space at the top of Annex, at the far corner, yes the area is small but the volume is big, i'm not sure if it's open-air. That's the only place where this "Sky Garden" will be placed on. However, comparing the "Sky Garden" features, and the new renders, they seem to fit the elements on the "The Garden" infront of the mall. let's just wait and see.

SM City North-EDSA's new Annex Building, which is scheduled to open in November, was recently presented to tenants giving them a first look at the exciting redevelopment and expansion of SM's first supermall.
When SM City North-EDSA opened in November 1985, the country was in the middle of a major political and economic crisis, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Today, as SM celebrates its 50th anniversary with 31 supermalls all over the Philippines, it returns to its roots with the redevelopment of the mall that started it all. The new Annex highlights the initial phase of the mall's redevelopment, which began with the opening of The Block in 2006.
The new 92,830-square-meter, six-level Annex, which will rise on the site of the old Annex building, was designed to create an enjoyable and festive shopping experience, and to provide an entertainment environment. It is also an iconic symbol in Metro Manila's rapidly changing and growing cityscape and community.
The exterior of the new Annex is a simple block clad in undulating perforated aluminum panels. In the context of the total redevelopment, the façade treatment is carried over to the Main Mall and The Block. The façade is interspersed by either glass or metal-clad cubes. The undulations of the cladding panels make for every dynamic composition.
The eastern end of the Annex overlooking the park will consist of a monumental glass wall, which will stretch to the whole height of this end wall. This creates a grand shop front from which the atrium, its scenic lifts, as well as various retail outlets and restaurants can be seen from the park. The design merges the indoor and the outdoor.
The choice of aqua suggests an affinity other SM malls, Megamall and Mall of Asia. In all, a dynamic composition is created aimed to give the mall a distinct architectural identity with a balance of dynamism and elegance.
Inside tenants are arranged along the ribbon-like atrium with vertical circulation provided by escalators and lifts at opposite ends.
Interiors are clean and modem, and centered around a curvilinear atrium, which stretches its length. Daylight is provided through a series of circular glass cones set into the ceiling, giving the interior a light, airy feeling.
The new Annex's tenant mix will include high-end retail, various dining establishments, a Cyberzone, a games arcade, and a bowling center, creating a cutting-edge mix of shopping and entertainment.
Its lower ground floor will include leisure shops while its upper ground floor will consist of general services. Nourishment and indulgence shops will be on the second floor, while specialty shops and fashion finds complete the third floor. The biggest Cyberzone is the attraction of the fourth and fifth floors, while an upcoming call center will be on the sixth floor.
One of the new Annex' major attractions is the Cyberzone, and its fourth and fifth floors are dedicated entirely to the virtual world. The Cyberzone at SM City North-EDSA will be the largest tech center in all SM malls, and a one-stop haven for the tech-savvy shoppers. With over a hundred shops and tech service centers, it will include tenants offering hardware and software solutions, mobile communications, Internet and gaming services. The Cyberzone is envisioned to be the center of the technology lifestyle: more tech, more brands, and more shops.
Plans for the new Annex as well as the rest of SM City North-EDSA were revealed during the Tenants Preview. One of the highlights of the program was a presentation of the SM City North-EDSA Experience as narrated by the mall's pioneer tenants.
The event was attended by the Annex's prospective tenants, who were welcomed by SM officials led by SM prime Holdings president Hans T. Sy, SCMC president Annie Garcia, VP for Leasing Daisy Chua, and A VP for operations Bien Mateo.
With the new Annex opening in November, as well as the upgrading of its popular main mall, SM City North-EDSA is all set to establish new benchmarks in the shopping world. Given the comprehensive and exciting retail mix, its modem interiors, and eye-catching iconic facades, the mall becomes an exciting and modern destination for mall visitors in the metropolis and nearby provinces.

MEGA'S growing much more with the addition of the SM Megamall Atrium, which is scheduled to open this October. A first look at this exciting new lifestyle area was recently previewed at the site in Ortigas Center.
The 16,000 sqm addition to the existing Megamall is located over Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, and when completed with fully bridge the gap between Mega A and B. With Megamall being a linear development that spans more than half a kilometer, the Atrium is envisioned to be a center of respite and relaxation.
Upscale retail shops and restaurants are planned around a circular atrium with an area of 452 sqm. Access to the center is designed to offer an air of drama and surprise. Off the existing bridgeway, the visitor approaches the center through a low ceiling hallway that widens toward the cylindrical skylight.
Dynamic non-concentric circles on the floor are achieved with the application of yellow tiles of varied hues. An equally dynamic skylight design matches the non-concentric circles in the floor. The curved patterns ripple out beyond the atrium area on both floors and ceilings to great consistency and harmony to the general look of the center.
The deep end of fifth level of the SM Megamall Atrium will be the site of the 1,585 sqm Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord. This grand chapel with a separate adoration chapel has a modern design with the Eucharist as the focal point.
Wood in its natural oil finish is the most common material, which will be used in chapel.
