SM Prime profit growth slowed on higher operating costs
THE Philippines’ biggest mall developer and operator disclosed on Tuesday that its profit for the first nine months climbed at a slower pace than last year.
SM Prime Holdings Inc. told the Philippine Stock Exchange that its consolidated net income for January to September grew by 9 percent to P4.7 billion from a year ago. However, this was slower than the 10.6-percent increase posted last year.
Revenues rose by 10 percent to P12.8 billion. This period’s revenues include SM malls Xiamen and Jinjiang in Southern China and Chengdu in Central China, all of which the company acquired late last year.
“It is very encouraging for us to see steady growth in SM Prime’s operations this year at the back of a very challenging business climate. We feel fortunate that Asia appears to be in a much better position to weather the global financial turmoil,” Hans Sy, the company’s president, said.
About P11.1 billion of the revenues for the three quarters came from rental fees, which rose 14 percent, and was the biggest revenue generator for the company. The improvement was due to same store rental growth that climbed by 5 percent and from additional floor space generated by new malls SM City Marikina, SM City Bacolod, SM City Taytay and SM Supercenter Muntinlupa.
In addition, SM City Pampanga, SM City Cebu and SM Mall of Asia expanded, which added 475,000 square meters to the company’s total gross floor area (GFA). Average occupancy rate for these new malls now stand at 94 percent.
Cinema ticket sales fell by 7 percent to P1.3 billion because of “a dearth of blockbuster movies” during the period.
Operating expenses for the three quarters climbed by 9 percent to P5.9 billion year-on-year and this single digit growth was due to cost-saving measures undertaken in all SM malls. However, spiraling fuel and power costs during the period grew by 12 percent to P7 billion, dragging down operating income.
For the remaining two months this year, the company will open SM Supercenter Rosales in Pangasinan and SM City Baliuag in Bulacan. The new 15,000-square meter Atrium in SM Megamall will open this month while the expansion of SM City North EDSA and SM City Fairview will be completed next year. By year-end the company will have 33 malls nationwide and total GFA will reach 4.7 million square meters, including malls in China.
Next year pa pala magoopen ang new SM Annex and SM Fairview?
WAH! :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Detailed sya, mala-Ayala ahaha!
I'm really looking forward to it's completion next year. Problem lang dito eh ang mga tunog ng sasakyang dumadaan, other than that it seems like this place is going to look classy. :-)
It's good to have more choices....

ona November 14th, 2008, 02:48 AM a big gud luck to trinoma. but I'm not sure na makukuha uli ng SM ang trono nila dati.
I think SM NoE will just level the playing field & challenge TriNoma but I think TriNoma will counter again especially with its planned Hypermart for 2009.
Waldenstrom November 14th, 2008, 05:03 AM I wish we have more malls like the Alabang Town Center. sigh!

leechtat November 14th, 2008, 09:01 AM Mga Pilipino talaga.
^^ kasi the overpass does not have a connection outside of sm's property.. they should have placed stairs in the opposite side of the road as well. .. what happens after the mall closes - you may not be able to use those overpass since the stairs in the skygarden is not yet open. that's why people are still crossing the road... quite useless actually, like the ayala ave underpass at night...

About NoE & TriNoma, Fight Fight!
Alabang Town Center is the center of all centers in the Metro.
Setting the trend. Very natural. Very Filipino.
kennethologist November 14th, 2008, 05:16 PM I personally believe that "tiles" alone cannot be a basis. Let's look at all the facilities & most especially the greenery in of the Garden. At the meantime it looks like the SM Skygarden is bigger so that means that more facilities will fit into it.
Personally I like TriNoma's approach better than SM because the Garden is located in a more serene area and the Garden is multi-level so water from the topmost level cascades down to the lowest level which is the Grand Lobby along Mindanao Avenue.
...But it seems SM's Skygarden will be Grander because again it decorates the main facade and it was specifically designed to improve on TriNoma's Garden.
The beauty of SM's Sky Garden is it is designed for the Philippine climate... almost the whole garden will have all its pathways covered so even when it's uber rainy or uber sunny... it will still be convenient for people to walk around their gardens. that i think is the biggest advantage of SM's garden than any other mall gardens around.

Yes, so if you're coming from TriNoma, you can climb the overpass, walk the garden covered all the way to The Grass Residences! :D
Fact: They are NOT changing the Name of SM North EDSA, only the Logo changed, copying that scheme used first in SM Taytay, i'll shoot that once it's laid up ;)

About NoE & TriNoma, Fight Fight!
Lalo na nung nasa Shangri-La kami, 'kaeamig eamig guit-a'. Malamig daw.
Nuong nasa MRT flatform kami sa Crossing, tanong nya sa akin. 'Ano aton nga ginahueat kara? ...LRT?'

Rowena C. Burgos
Philippine Daily Inquirer
MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Malls launches today its new TV commercial called “I Lov’emall.” The ad features the architecture and landscapes of its malls: Glorietta, Greenbelt, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Center Cebu, Market! Market!, Bonifacio High Street and TriNoma. It also highlights the malls’ world-class services and events and pioneering sustainable development programs.
Shoppers will find quality hotel-like concierge booths that offer assistance on store locations, merchant directory, event and movie schedules, restaurant and cinema reservations, call-a-taxi services, flight and travel information and hotel bookings.
On the other hand, a roving concierge in Glorietta and Greenbelt provides assistance to customers who need help in finding store and restaurant locations. “Like in hotels, we offer true-blue concierge service,” says Cesar Jose Jesena, senior division manager. “If you look lost or struggling with your shopping bags, the roving concierge will help you.”
The Ayala Malls’ Mobile Concierge serves as your own personal Ayala Malls’ assistant, with all the mall information you need at your fingertips. Meanwhile, the tech-savvy will be delighted to call the malls their next home as Ayala Malls now offers free Wi-fi connection in selected areas.
For the physically impaired, Ayala Malls features ramps, specialized parking spaces and separate bathrooms and cubicles. “Such features are more strategically located. We also provide wheelchairs and the malls’ guards are trained to give assistance to the handicapped,” Jesena says.
In December, Ayala Malls will offer shoppers “A Card” which can be availed through membership. This privilege card offers store discounts, freebies and perks.
Eco-friendly
As an ongoing effort to sustain the clean and green environment and as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Ayala Malls incorporates global best practices in eco-friendly mall design, construction, and operations.
"Green is not just the color of trees but also applies to energy and water conservation, proper solid waste management and the whole masterplanning of the mall,” says Edmond Maceda, sustainability consultant. “For example, in Greenbelt, we designed ponds into the landscape so we can harvest rain water and use it to irrigate the plants.”
Water used by the shops is recycled to water the 50,000 trees and over 60 species in the malls’ nurseries.
Ayala Land’s Solid Waste Management (SWM), which started in 1996, is a pioneer program in environmental impact reduction. The program aims to reduce the volume of residual waste by recovering materials that can be reused, recycled, and processed into compost. As a result, the malls’ residual waste volume has gone down by 85%.
In addition to the SWM, Ayala Malls also pioneered the Waste Market concept, wherein selected mall parking lots are converted to collection and drop-off points for the sale and trading of non-traditional wastes such as used appliances, car batteries and electronics devices.
“Things you don’t see from a consumer’s perspective are some of the more important sustainability considerations we put in,” Maceda says.
At present, Greenbelt 5, TriNoma and Serendra are using the latest in airconditioning system called ice thermal storage. Ice is produced at night when energy rates are the lowest. That ice is used to cool the malls during daytime.
Recently, Maceda went to Singapore to study displacement cooling. “Instead of glowers from the ceiling, we have diffusers from the ground level based on the principle that cool air will displace the hot air going up. So instead of the energy that you need for the air to blow the air down, you use less energy as the hot air is pushed upward. We’re gonna implement that in the near future.”
The group is finding more ways to save water like reducing algae build-up in the cooling tower pipelines of the airconditioning system. “This results in tremendous water savings like 100,000 cubic meters over the past few years. On energy efficiency, we save close to 6 million kilowatt hours of electricity purchased from the grid. That’s equivalent to 3,000 tons of carbon emissions prevented,” Maceda says.
Since 2000, Ayala Malls has been using 20 garbage trucks a day in going to the landfill. But due to the malls’ segregation and solid waste management efforts, the number has been reduced to 3 to 4 trucks a day.
When the malls’ merchants put out their garbage unsegregated, it won’t be collected. They pay P25 per bag of garbage. “This Pay As You Throw program is a means to reduce their waste,” Maceda says.
The malls’ merchants have also begun shifting to energy-efficient lighting, refrigeration, manufacturing, and packaging, thereby becoming green companies themselves.
“We focus on projects that would have the most impact on reducing greenhouse gas emission, fighting climate change and shaping the market,” Maceda says. “It’s an opportunity to educate the market. And the malls are the biggest and strongest engine for us to do this market shaping.”
The Ayala Malls’ energy conservation efforts have been recognized when it was awarded the Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards in 2007.
Design awardee
Last month, Ayala Malls won the International Council of Shopping Centers Asia Pacific Gold Award for Bonifacio High Street’s design innovation; Silver Award for TriNoma’s design innovation; and Gold Award for marketing excellence of Bravo Filipino: A Tribute to Filipino’s Creativity and Ingenuity, which featured a four-month long festival celebrating the Filipino creative genius during the opening of Greenbelt 5.
“There are still white spaces or gaps in the market that we can fulfill like community centers or value malls. There are some beliefs that we might be overmalled in Metro Manila but there are still opportunities in the provinces and what we call ’in-fill’ places within this geography. With these community centers we’ll put up, we’d like to differentiate ourselves,” says Marivic Añonuevo, senior vice president and group head. “In Asia, that’s the way to go. For example, in Novaliches the retail is unformatted. We’d like to organize it not only for business social convergence but where the community would look at it as their mall.”

thomasian November 17th, 2008, 11:19 AM Has anyone noticed that Bonifacio High Street doesn't have a "B4"?
So there's B1, B2, B3, and then another B3... skip to B5, B6, B7, and lastly B8.
You're guess is probably as good as mine so a research is not needed to confirm if it really is the reason why there's no B4. You see, BHS had been subdivided into 8 land leases, and 88 store spaces (though there may be stores that occupy more than one space so the number may be reduced, can anyone confirm?). So banking on the luck of number 8, it's obvious that they had Chinese beliefs employed on the development of BHS. The number 4 is considered unlucky for the Chinese so that most likely explains why there's no B4 in BHS.
It's somewhat weird because Ayala Malls has Glorietta 4 and Greenbelt 4. :D

MANILA, Philippines -- The country's biggest mall developer, SM Prime Holdings, will boost capital spending 66 percent next year, the firm said Tuesday, despite a global financial crisis that has sent developed economies into recession.
SM Prime is bucking a domestic trend in which big corporations like the Philippine Long Distance Co. and Globe Telecoms announced cuts in their 2009 spending plans earlier this month.
SM Prime, a unit of conglomerate SM Investments Corp. of Henry Sy, one of the country's richest men, said in a statement to the stock exchange it would spend P10 billion ($205 million) next year from P6.0 billion this year.
The company is counting on steady remittances from overseas Filipinos, equivalent to about 10 percent of domestic output, to fuel continued growth in domestic consumption despite the deepening financial crisis globally.
The company, which recorded a 9.0-percent increase in net income in the third quarter, said 70 percent of the 2009 capital spending plan would go to the construction of new shopping malls and expansion of existing ones.
The balance would go to expanding its presence in China, the world's fourth largest economy. The company now has three malls in China, located in Xiamen and Jinjiang in the south and Chengdu in central China.
SM Prime expects to end this year with 33 malls nationwide.
Shares of SM Prime were down 4.29 percent in late trade on Tuesday, deeper than the 3.66-percent fall in the main stock index.

hirolionheart November 18th, 2008, 12:21 PM SM Prime says debts to fund 2009 capex
By Honey Madrilejos-Reyes, 18 Nov 2008
Source: Business Mirror
SHOPPING mall operator SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPH) may have to tap borrowings to fund next year’s expansion program to be implemented here and in China.
In an interview, executive vice president and chief finance officer Jeffrey C. Lim said of the P10-billion capital expenditure SMPH is allotting for 2009, they are considering possibilities of funding half of the amount through debt since the company has a very stable debt to equity position.
“We are looking at various options but maybe more on debt because we are not leveraged enough,” he said.
The company is spending around P7 billion to build three new malls in Naga (Bicol), Pamplona (Las Piñas) and Rosario (Cavite) next year and expand SM Rosales (Pangasinan) and SM North Edsa. By the end of 2009, SMPH will have 36 malls under its portfolio with total gross floor area of 4.5 million square meters (sq.m.).
For China, SMPH’s plan is to put up one mall per year. Company president Hans T. Sy said SMPH is building one next year in Chongquing, while two more are planned in 2010 and 2011 to be located in Suzhou and Zibo in Guangdong province.
“Borrowings to support our China operations may happen after the first quarter of 2009,” Lim added.
The company currently has three malls in southern and western China, namely, Xiamen, Jinjiang and Chengdu.SMPH remains to one of the most profitable businesses of the Sy-led SM Investments Corp.
Notwithstanding the tough business environment, SMPH’s net income for the first nine months of the year grew 9.3 percent to P4.7 billion on the back of a 10.3-percent increase in consolidated revenues amounting to P12.8 billion.
For the third quarter alone, the listed firm’s net income jumped 8.5 percent to P1.53 billion, while revenues went up 15.4 percent to P4.5 billion. The January-September results include the operations of the three SM malls in China following their acquisition late last year.
“It is very encouraging for us to see steady growth in SM Prime’s operations this year at the back of a very challenging business climate. We feel fortunate that Asia appears to be in a much better position to weather the global financial turmoil,” Sy said.
Rental fees still accounted for the largest share to SMPH’s nine-month consolidated revenues with P11.1 billion. The increase came from both same store rental growth, which increased 5 percent and from additional floor space generated by new malls namely SM City Marikina in September of this year, and SM City Bacolod, SM City Taytay and SM Supercenter Muntinlupa in 2007. In addition, the existing malls—SM City Pampanga, SM City Cebu and SM Mall of Asia—were expanded.
Meanwhile, cinema ticket sales fell 7 percent to P1.3 billion from P1.4 billion in 2007 due to shortage of blockbuster movies during the period.
For the remainder of the year, the company is set to open SM Supercenter Rosales in Pangasinan and SM City Baliuag in Bulacan. The new Atrium of SM Megamall is also expected to be open for business in November. SM City North Edsa and SM City Fairview are also currently undergoing expansion and due for completion in 2009.
hirolionheart November 18th, 2008, 12:22 PM US$ 2-M dino theme park to open next week at Mall of Asia
By Louise M. Francisco
Source: Business Mirror
AFTER the successful tours of Max Entertainment’s Dinos Alive in Thailand and Indonesia, it has brought its -million theme park to the Philippines, which will open on November 28 until January 11 at the Block 5 of SM Mall of Asia (MOA).
The 12,000-sq-m venue will house the largest known collection of over 31 robotic (interactive) dinosaurs set up in Cretaceous and Jurassic Periods, a 3,000-sq-m food-court area, small train and simulator rides, photo and souvenir shops, sand-box fossil hunt and other fun activities.
“Dinos Alive will be a source of entertainment and education for the Filipino families,” assured James White, vice president for sales and marketing of Max Entertainment, in a media presentation and tour.
“We have made the park’s atmosphere the same as 65 million years ago by putting a 30-foot waterfall, smoke, roaring sounds and LED- changing colors of wash lights.”
At the park entrance, visitors can see bone-like relics of different dinosaurs on the wall made of resin, while dinosaur figures, some as high as a 2-story building inside, were made of latex, resin and silicon to give visitors same feel and resemblance of the genuine ones.
Some featured dinosaurs intended for educational trips and excursions include tyrannosaurus, triceratops, velociraptor, brachiosaurus, stegosaurus and megalosaurus.
The company is confident to recoup its investment in the country after gaining positive results in two previous tours in Asia and welcomed more than 360,000 visitors.
“In Bangkok we extended for a week to accept more visitors. I think in the Philippines, we can do the same if we see numbers of park-goers,” explained White.
Tickets are available are Ticket World, selected National Book Store outlets and in three booths on site.
On weekdays ticket prices for adults are P500, P400 for children below a meter and P1,600 for family package, which includes five tickets.
Weekend ticket prices vary, P600 for adult, P450 for children and P1,750 for family package.
Visitors who will purchase a package ticket can avail themselves of the three supplementary tickets at P200 each.
Banco de Oro credit-card payers will be given 10-percent discount if tickets are bought using BDO, Equitable and American Express.
The park will be open from 12 noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.
“Dinos Alive will tour next in China, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and Singapore,” said White.

- bridge to main building via sm cinemas also connecting to sm grass residences
thomasian November 23rd, 2008, 02:19 PM ^^ I know, and it's actually visible in the picture, that's why I said "not the sky garden bridge" to clarify that it's the bridge to the main mall that I'm referring to and not the other bridge that connects to the sky garden. The second answer is the only one I needed, thank you.
evilgenius15 November 23rd, 2008, 02:22 PM hello all. i was passing by SM North EDSA last night and saw the test run of this giant LCD screen at one side of the new annex building. it's really huge and the light's really bright. madali syang makita if you're taking the north bound lane of EDSA.

Yep yep, From the Annex, there's a direct bridge to The Garden, and another one going to the Main Building directly, just like before, but this time it also connects all the way to the Grass Residences..
Dapat, i move nalang yung Golden Acres sa likod ng Grass Residences (extra unused hectares, tapos gibain ang Carpark for a bigger main building hehe saya.

hirolionheart November 24th, 2008, 11:10 AM Robinson's Starmall ba talaga?:?:?:?
Yup, hindi hawak ng Robinsons ang Starmall...
From Wiki:
Star Group of Malls
Starmall (formerly known as Manuella) is a commercial mall project of the M.B. Villar Group of Companies founded by Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. It started as a small commercial complex in Las Piñas known as Manuela Shopping Center in the 1980s.

I can't wait for SM Annex to reopen kasi walking distance or one tricycle ride lang and masyado na kasing matraffic tuwing weekend going to Trinoma.

trinoma for now but sm north edsa has been the top mall for 20 yrs...
been for both malls during trinoma sale... noticed that despite the many people in trinoma... they're just to tambay, window shop. some hand carried bags were sm bags..

Agree. Too much mall space already in that area.
It's high time to develop that shanty town beside trinoma into something else. It's a massive eyesore adjacent to two massive malls.

wala pong cyberzone sa sm fairview until now...

I'm not sure, but it seems that Annex 1 will house the call center and ACE will be downsized because of an upcoming competition with Wilcon who's also building a multi-level mega-depot at Fairview...
but if ever Annex 1 house the SMCF's BPO Component at the space left by ACE... that's a very... very... very huge space! parang ka-footprint na yun ng The Block (perhaps even bigger.. it's like 2 supermarkets joined together. yung Ace samin is so huge they even sell concrete pipes for streets!). We may see more than a couple BPOs renting up the space... or may mall component siya and just a huge space for the lucky call center company!
kennethologist November 25th, 2008, 04:42 PM ^^ If you visit ACE at Fairview, you can build a small town with materials right from their store. they have everything from (as ive mentioned before) Concrete pipes, Rebars, Vasbuilt-type walls, lamp posts, concrete stamps, tiles, etc...
the first time i went around that store i was amazed to see na meron sa SM ng mga nilalagay na pipes sa ilalim ng kalye! ...xempre i was amazed while sipping my mocha frapuccino from the starbucks just across ACE

I saw that also, kaso for tenants only. Shemai! Lemai! :bleep:
Kaso madilim e. Inis! Sa view na yun, you will actually see the Eastwood-Ortigas-Makati silhouette on a clear, bright, sunny day. :)

Well i think these save more supermarkets are SM's answer to that of Rustan's. Pure Gold, Macro, S&P, Shopwise are more of a Hypermarket. Well, if the pricings are accurate, i mean, expensive, then it may just be a large 7-11. :( Where you pay for convenience? :(

after SM North is relaunched I expect that the tide might shift to SM NoE for the meantime simply because people are very curious with the changes there. SM North is like a counterweight to SM MoA & TriNoma is like the counterpart of Glorietta/Greenbelt. After we see the massive expansion of SM NoE & TriNoma in a few years they will might be the leading malls (in terms of foot traffic) of Ayala & SM.

That's where the MRT/LRT projects come in as I have stated earlier.
We are also talking about building a subway rail system in Metro Manila LRT/MRT Lines thread to further decongest the traffic especially for such these business and commercial complexes:)

kratos1211 November 28th, 2008, 01:35 AM SM Prime opens SM City Rosales today
Philstar (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?ArticleId=419092&publicationSubCategoryId=66)
SM Prime Holdings, Inc. is set to open SM City Rosales, the company’s first mall in the province of Pangasinan today. The new mall has a gross floor area (GFA) of 60,989 square meters (sqm) and stands on 121,685 sqm of land.
SM City Rosales has a leasable area of 43,235 sqm and has as its major tenants SM Department Store and SM Hypermarket, which will occupy 16,686 sqm and 8,591 sqm of floor space, respectively. The SM Department Store however, will open in April 2009. The mall’s amenities include a 973-sqm food court and parking slots for over 1,000 vehicles. Other mall tenants include SM Appliance, Jollibee, McDonald’s, KFC, National Bookstore, Watsons, Ace Hardware, and Timezone, among others.
SM Prime president Hans Sy said “our expansion towards provincial markets continues with the opening of SM City Rosales. The commitment to deliver the SM quality of mall products and services closer to more Filipinos remains a steadfast goal for SM Prime. Rosales is a highly progressive municipality in Pangasinan with a large, productive agricultural base. It is also a take-off point to the major cities of Dagupan, Nueva Ecija, and Baguio, which make the area highly accessible. As such, Rosales is an ideal location for an SM mall.”
It is estimated that the opening of SM City Rosales will provide employment to close to 1,500 people which includes direct and indirect employees.
Rosales is a two-time winner of the cleanest, greenest, and safest municipality award in the province of Pangasinan. It was also recognized as the most outstanding local government unit in eco-tourism and environmental protection in 2006.
SM City Rosales brings to 32 the total number of SM Prime malls all over the country, with a combined GFA of 4.1 million sqm. It is the second SM mall to open this year, after SM City Marikina, which was inaugurated last September.
In addition, the company opened the other day the bridgeway at SM Megamall with 15,000 sqm of additional space and in December, The Annex at SM North Edsa with an additional 90,000 sqm bringing total GFA to 346,679 sqm for Megamall and 421,861 sqm for North EDSA. Before the year ends, SM Prime is set to unveil SM Baliwag in Bulacan and the expansion of SM Fairview in Quezon City.

- north edsa...
nagagamit ba yung sinasabi nilang central terminal road?
hmmm...
go transportation engg, woohoo!
dancethingy November 28th, 2008, 12:45 PM the bad thing that can come out of this is if all the developments at North Edsa doesn't coelesce into a unified system. It would be so much more convenient if visitors can go from one mall to the other smoothly. I hope the two can blend architecturally as well.
evilgenius15 November 28th, 2008, 01:02 PM may nabasa lang ako... about sm fairview ulit
para mas maganda if they'll expand the annex to accomodate more stores,
like converting the ace builders instead into a cyberzone... and extend the 2nd floor
to the back portion of the annex with some king of park, heheh
hirolionheart November 28th, 2008, 01:50 PM Dinosaurs roam again at the SM Mall of Asia
By JEFFREY O. VALISNO

THE WORLD may be on the brink of recession but expect Filipinos to still troop to the malls to shop for Christmas. And with so many malls sprouting all over Metro Manila, mall owners have to come up with reasons for shoppers to continue shopping.
For this holiday season, the SM Mall of Asia, will have an educational attraction that is sure to delight children of all ages from Nov. 28 until Jan. 11 next year.
Called Dinos Alive, the touring exhibition is an interactive display of mechanical replicas of dinosaurs. The "walk-through" show features moving dinosaurs made by the same Japan-based creative team behind the creatures seen in the Steven Spielberg blockbuster Jurassic Park.
Marcus Luer, chief executive of MAX Entertainment, said Dinos Alive attracted huge crowds when it was first staged in Thailand in 2006 and in Indonesia last July. MAX Entertainment is the local producer of Dinos Alive, which is a touring production based in Malaysia.
"The feedback has been very positive from the past visits in other countries so we are confident we can attract many people to check out the exhibition," Mr. Luer told reporters recently.
"We are targeting an estimated 350,000 people to visit us here over the six weeks of the exhibition," he added.
Dinos Alive will be located within the SM Mall of Asia complex near the south wing. It will occupy 12,000 square meters of open space (equivalent to 30 basketball courts) and house more than 30 interactive dinosaurs.
Mr. Luer said Dinos Alive will have replicas of different dinosaurs from the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods including Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops (pictured), Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus and Megalosaurus.
"These creatures are brought to life with high quality latex that provides a texture similar to what scientists estimate the dinosaurs’ skin would resemble and feel like," Mr. Luer explained.
Aside from the interactive dinosaurs, Dinos Alive will magic shows, fire eaters, jugglers, puppeteers and clowns. There will also be reptile shows featuring live iguanas, albino python, crocodile, and kumingi dragons. A 3,000-square meter food court area selling refreshments can also be reserved for private Christmas parties.
Ticket prices for adults are P550, and P400 for kids below three feet during weekdays. For weekends, tickets will be sold at P600 and P450.
There will also be family packages priced at P1,600 on weekdays and P1,750 on weekends. The family package includes tickets for two adults, two children and one free ticket of their choice.
"The organizers considered the economic situation and how Filipinos love going out in large groups. So on top of the family pack, three supplementary tickets are available for purchase at P200 each," Mr. Luer said.
For inquiries, call Ticketworld at 891-9999.
stanleymalls November 29th, 2008, 08:06 AM ^^ This attraction was famous when it had its pit stops at Thailand & Indonesia.

Okey na sana yung sm north edsa and trinoma, but too close to the roads kaya di maapreciate yung ganda ng architecture niya. Hope someday one developer will do with my idea. Yung bang you can see a lot of greens, wide sidewalks around 20 to 30 ft wide with combine indoor and outdoor malls , then nice trees with black rounding floor pattern around it, nice landscape and so forth. BGC is a good idea but still something lacking. My idea, para bang white house, it was in the middle and surrounded with roads, para siyang nasa rotunda, wow ang ganda pag ganuon yung mall, you can see the 4 sides of its architectural design. Then running water if it says 6 floors, from outside and inside from top of the building going down there is water falls around it.

At baka magkaroon pa yun ng Green Architecture or Efficiency Award.

SM Hypermarket - SM Supermarket + some necessary dry goods

Wow, 3 Supermarkets (inc. the hypermarket) at SM City North EDSA?
adverg December 1st, 2008, 03:13 AM Like here in Malaysia, yung new the gardens nila, gusto ko yung concept but di kalakihan siya, I like those inside the mall, pahaba parang mega mall but malawak siya tapos around 6 floors then in between floor may mga hanging bridge with laminated glass sandblasted flooring para di masilipan yung dadaan hehehe then the whole ceiling is skylighted tapos with towers of water features and tube elevators, wow so beautiful tapos yung hanging bridge in between malaking bridge siya with al fresco dining, ang ganda pag ganun. Tapos every floor height around 20' to 30' height para yung every retail shops very high end look. Try to search for the gardens and the pavillion here in Malaysia and you will get my idea.
for sure maraming titira doon... hehehe...

Well, it's no surprise for me kc.
SM Supermarket - 20+ years old and overcrowded and filthy and smelly even if it looks ok and items are complete
SM Hypermarket - Malaki, malamig, malinis, "complete" in the sense pero kulang kulang compared to SM Supermarket
Save More Market - Probably was created to lessen the crowds in SM Supermarket, also, to add more reasons to go to SM Annex at para mukhang matao. :D
P.S.
I noticed the price differnence versus other supermarkets, and it is slightly pricey in SM :(
Sinjin P. December 1st, 2008, 06:19 AM ^ Yes, mas mura pa rin sa Metro Supermarket (Market! Market!)

evilgenius15 December 1st, 2008, 11:52 AM should i say mura din sa landmark? hehehe...
Trinoma = 250, 000
SM North = 400, 000
