thomasian December 16th, 2004, 08:44 AM I think Gateway will be somewhat connected to that Millenium Mall, its like Gateway being Phase-1 of that Millenium Mall. Well, that's how I understand the articles i've read before. PnoyD2Tayo December 16th, 2004, 04:15 PM Is it really a Disco? I think I remember my aunt telling me stories about the revolving restaurant in Carriedo and how it has a good view. Yes she is correct, it is a restaurant/disco. mysaong03 December 17th, 2004, 12:21 PM i think these are some of the 'critical' areas around or within araneta center that needs to be refurbished urgently: 1 the filthy, rotting & scary side of EDSA in araneta center, from santolan flyover to cubao area(san martin de porres), to aurora intersection, and all the way upto kamuning & east avenue crossing in front of GMA network center. i hate to say this but its so damn chaotic.9specially) the nototrious kamuning flyover!! & the numerous bus/FX terminals, dilapidated sidewalks, open manholes & drainage (mahuhulog ka i swear), illegal sidewalk vending, & oh i also found 2 rotting overpass, & stretch of billboards of cheap sexy/action films 2 aurora blvd from anonas intersection all the way to e rodriguez (madilim & disorganized, & very crowded, snatching prone area to) 3 tuazon blvd from alimall to edsa, matraffic 4 e rodriguez from new york to aurora 5 ryanr December 17th, 2004, 12:30 PM Maybe Millenium Mall is the name of the whole mall development in all its phases. But they renamed it to Gateway (current new one is just one section). ryanr December 17th, 2004, 01:42 PM Click here to go to the original "Mega Metro Malls" thread in the Archives: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=160063 thomasian December 18th, 2004, 07:14 PM Pictures taken last Thursday. http://www.geocities.com/csbrocks_hunter/sm_san-lazaro.jpg http://www.geocities.com/csbrocks_hunter/sm_san-lazaro2.jpg http://www.geocities.com/csbrocks_hunter/sm_san-lazaro3.jpg renell December 19th, 2004, 02:11 AM How long has construction been going on? absent-minded December 19th, 2004, 06:51 AM How long has construction been going on? we used to pass by the area everyday on the way to school and I think the demolition of the old Hippodrome and contstruction of the mall started back in the first few months of 2004. or maybe even 2003 still. One of their first Metro Manila stores was along Shaw Boulevard near Wack-Wack. My parents like to shop at PureGold in Binan, Laguna because their prices really are around 5% cheaper compared to Robinsons and SM. Nakakaasar iyang Science Diet. I noticed that the glass window where you can see New Frontier and Aurora is being fitted with a white colored synthetic rolled-type blind. Maybe to lessen the glare of the skylight , to lessen the sun's rays heat or to simply "hide" the unsightly view outside which is in contrast to the posh mall's ambience. I saw it on ABS-CBNNews.com flash reports. they still don't know whether it was cause by a bomb or firecrackers or what. they say it was near Farmers Plaza and that people heard it all the way in Greenhills... bagel January 1st, 2005, 01:40 AM This story was taken from www.inq7.net http://news.inq7.net/breaking/index.php?index=2&story_id=22892 4 hurt in Cubao blast Updated 09:14pm (Mla time) Dec 31, 2004 By Joel Francis Guinto, Tina Santos Inquirer News Service, INQ7.net (3RD UPDATE) Four people were hurt following a sidewalk explosion in front of a bank in Quezon City's Cubao commercial district on Friday, New Year's Eve, police said. Supt. Benigno Durana, commander of the Cubao police station, said the explosion occurred in front of the Philtrust Bank branch on EDSA beside Farmer's Market at the Araneta Center in Cubao. Durana said they could not yet determine whether the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive or a powerful firecracker. Durana said in a television interview that the explosion shattered the glass doors and windows of the bank. The victims, he said, sustained minor injuries and are out of danger. They were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center, Durana added. Philippine National Police Director General Edgar Aglipay said agents of the Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) were investigating the incident. “They are looking for fragments such as batteries and blasting caps,” Aglipay told GMA Network radio station dzBB in an interview from the blast site. In the wake of the blast, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Avelino Razon Jr. said police deployment in the metropolis would be “doubled.” Metro Manila police were placed on the highest “full alert” on Thursday, ahead of the New Year's revelries and as the nation commemorated the deadly Rizal Day bombings of 2000, which left 22 people killed. On December 24, Christmas Eve, police foiled a bomb attempt, believed to be the handiwork of the Abu Sayyaf, in Manila's Quiapo district. ©2005 www.inq7.net all rights reserved Lightspeed January 1st, 2005, 02:49 AM New Year's Eve was a pretty raucous and noisy night so I think most of the Metro Manilans weren't even aware that this even happened. Solblanc January 1st, 2005, 04:43 AM yeah. The last time I spent New Year's in Manila before now was about two years ago or so. I'd almost forgotten how noisy it could get. federal January 2nd, 2005, 12:23 AM New year and Christmas celebration here at LA is so quiet and mellow.. unlike Manila's... and NYC. renell January 2nd, 2005, 02:26 AM Nothing seems to stop the noise MM makes in the New Year's. whyte January 2nd, 2005, 01:26 PM starmall crossing and metropolis alabang pacific mall acroos starmall JudeD January 2nd, 2005, 05:33 PM Based on the thick crowds I've seen in Metropolis Alabang (also now a Starmall) I don't think you can say that it's not successful. It's very pang-masa, but that doesn't mean it isn't making money. It has a lot of new tenants and the Robinsons Dept Store, the cinemas, and the facade even just got renovated. I've also seen several groups of foreigners shopping in Metropolis. My guess is they're expats living in Ayala Alabang or other nearby exclusive villages who want to shop tiangge-style but find Greenhills too far away. I think Starmall Crossing is doing fine as well. While that Pacific Mall was never even finished and is now being under-utilized. Although they've been able to squeeze some use out of it as a used car lot and badminton court. JudeD January 2nd, 2005, 05:38 PM Yeah! Floods, tsunamis, bombs did not stand in the way of a really wild city-wide New Year's Party! cropher January 2nd, 2005, 09:53 PM There was a time that Metropolis was heading to be malls which did not succeed when its Manuela Dept. Store and Hypermart was not making money and had to be closed down but it was eventually replaced with Robinsons Dept and Supermarket/hardware and with tiangge style stalls it has managed to survive presently. It has a very ideal size for a mall with lots of parking space and wide alleys in between shops . Its accessibility was also recently improved with the creation of more entrances and overpasses including the low-head one under the viaduct. One thing that is quite disadvantage in it is its disorganized placing of its temporary stalls on its alleys , if only they could place some improvements there to make it more organized . thomasian January 3rd, 2005, 03:14 AM ...I think Starmall Crossing is doing fine as well. While that Pacific Mall was never even finished and is now being under-utilized. Although they've been able to squeeze some use out of it as a used car lot and badminton court. That Pacific Mall is now Starmall Annex. And it is still very unfinished. I guess there won't be much demand for retail space in that area for this mall to be finished since it is very saturated with malls like Shangri-La Plaza, Edsa Central, Edsa Central Pavillon, Starmall, Megamall, Robinsons Galleria(quite far), and the MRT Station slash mini Mall. mhe-ann January 3rd, 2005, 03:55 AM I saw Pavillion Mall located in Biñan (?) JudeD January 4th, 2005, 11:25 AM Pavilion Mall is an Ayala development, yes, it's in Binan. The parking area is split between the back and the side so you probably didn't see all of the cars. Lots of people shop there, including my parents and siblings who live in Laguna. absent-minded January 6th, 2005, 06:31 AM I saw an article title something like "Greenbelt reaps int'l design award" on yesterday's Inquirer. it was on the picture of the front page thing. but I couldn't find the article on the website though... did anyone see it? Here's what I pulled off from GAP's website.... Sweatshops. There’s no doubt they exist in the garment industry. That’s why we've created one of the most comprehensive factory-monitoring and labor-standards programs in the apparel business. Around the world, Gap Inc. has more than 90 employees whose sole focus is working to improve conditions in the factories that make the clothing we sell. In 2003, these employees conducted nearly 8,500 visits to approximately 3,000 factories. When we find a problem, we take action. In most cases, we’ll work with manufacturers and factories to improve practices and conditions. But, if they don’t get better, we stop using them. We revoked approvals for 136 factories in 2003 because of compliance issues. We're proud of the differences we're making, but our efforts are a work in progress. Every day we learn something new. And every day we look for ways to do our jobs better. Learn more about our program on these pages. I just heard about a new mall in Divisoria called the 168 Mall. Does anyone have any pictures or information about it? Is it something like the Tutuban Mall? thomasian January 7th, 2005, 10:38 AM Yup, there's a new mall in Divisoria, the 168 Mall 1 and 2 (they're connected). One of its entrance is along Soler St. near Reina Regente St. Here's a list if some of their foodcourt tenants: Aldrino's Bibingka Espesyal Arctic Frost Chopsticks and Spoon Flavored rice box Have a sip Hwa Hong Eatery Ice Mom/Suzuki Son Kabby's Food Express Kai Hong Eatery Kal Snacks Karasa Kenny Rogers Roasters Kim Liong Tin King Kirby Mexican Connection Milko Mitzis Cantonese Kitchen Namit Gid Restaurant Nutrimeal Oscar Squid Balls Pizza Hut Plates and Sweets Potato King Tai Kai Huat Eatery ------------------------------ I think most of their tenants are Chinese including those in the foodcourt so maybe we can get authentic chinese food there at an affordable price. Has anyone been there? bagel January 7th, 2005, 04:47 PM Wow that looks great. Thanks Thomasian. That food court list makes me hungry. My sister, who is vacationing in Manila right now, gave me the following mall report. Went to divi yesterday. new mall is very organized! Same divi stuff, but great! Greenhills shopping center is also very very different. you know the corridor where the bulag minstrels were? that's all shops now (like bayo, kamiseta, sarisari stype stores) and it's all pretty and modern. the money exchange stall moved to next to the orange julius in unimart to make way for a more modern unimart. well, just a little more modern. i am told the bulags have a new home within the mall, but i haven't found them. i hope they're ok. other than that, there's lots of new eating places located in the car park buildings, and the crossroads arcade is gone, replaced by the multi-level "promenade". very different. also went to the new mall on c5 called market market. you would like it. from masa to rich, it caters to all. The mall she refers to in the beginning of the report is the 168 Mall. I too hope that the blind minstrels of Greenhills Shopping Center have found a new home and are still sharing their music with shoppers. I spent a lot of time listening to their music whenever I was back there. http://img104.exs.cx/img104/2083/blindmusicians.jpg To the blind musicians, I salute you! --- Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting (http://www.imageshack.us) mhe-ann January 8th, 2005, 01:01 AM I spent a lot of time listening to their music whenever I was back there. wow! nice to know that. :) kiku99 January 8th, 2005, 02:26 AM Asian cities really do have nice malls:) ThisFire January 8th, 2005, 02:38 AM Asian cities really do have nice malls:) Yes it's very true, it seems. And shopping zones too. I think it's because the whole continent of Asia is continuing to develop and as it does, it's finding itself more into newer concepts. By the way, did they get rid of that little pond/river system they had set up with the huge carp in it? I hope not. A trip to Uni Mart/ Vira Mall just wouldn't be complete for me without stopping by to look at the fish. As for the SM Sta. Rosa project, wow. I think I had heard that been mentioned back when I was still there (1999). That's a looooong time. ThisFire January 9th, 2005, 04:54 AM another SM *sigh* They're gonna rule the world pretty soon. Haha hope not. Otherwise they'll go bulok pretty quickly. And it should be like this, if SM keeps on opening all of these new malls of theirs: 1. do some homework and retain environment/culture and nature of whatever area and plan it out well to help preserve the respective site 2. alongside the many high-quality foreign import clothing and goods from the west or whatever, get more "made in Philippines" products to be sold in the stores, not necessarily true native-style goods (although that should always be in sight) but clothing and other goods that were made in the philippines by filipino companies as well as goods made in RP even if the company is not Filipino 3. do strategic planning towards traffic Then we can all go shopping and have a good time! JudeD January 15th, 2005, 08:16 PM No, there's a Gaisano in Cubao, near the old COD (now Pure Gold). And they have a small office/store along Shaw Boulevard in Pasig. Francis20 January 16th, 2005, 09:49 AM isn't Market Market! also called Gaisano? I'm confused. Lightspeed January 16th, 2005, 12:03 PM Market! Market! is the entire shopping complex. Metro Gaisano Market! Im learning a lot here. :D renell January 16th, 2005, 02:14 PM I guess it's comparable to the SM Department Stores in SM Malls:D ewh1 January 17th, 2005, 11:19 AM Some AWESOME news for Cagayan De Oro Ayala to put up P4-B center in Cagayan de Oro CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Ayala Corp. plans to build a P4-billion complex in Bgy. Indahag in this city that will feature shopping malls and high-rise condominiums. This was learned from Mayor Vicente Emano, who said Ayala Corp. representatives visited city hall recently to discuss the project. He also said that with an initial investment of P2 billion growing to P4 billion in several years, the Ayala project would help create jobs for city residents. Cagayan de Oro currently hosts nine mixed-use shopping malls: SM City, Robinsons' Big R Super Center, Limketkai Center, and three malls each for the Gaisano and Ororama groups. Limketkai, a pioneering mall developer in this city, is developing its Limketkai Center into a central business district. Aside from the shopping mall, the center now hosts open cafes, restobars, and a few townhouses. Limketkai mall also features an atrium that can accomodate 4,500 people. Limketkai proposes to put up condominium units, a hospital with links to US-based specialists, a commercial building for private offices, and a government building that will house local and national government offices. Part of its plan is the development of a one-hectare area into a basement parking, ground floor department store, four modern theaters on the third floor, and a 320-room business hotel. The 30-hectare Limketkai Center opened in June 1991. So far, nine hectares have been developed. Two of the biggest locators in the center are Plaza Fair and Robinsons. -- Ellen P. Red JudeD January 17th, 2005, 06:35 PM Went to Robinsons Place Pioneer kanina. It seems okay naman, very clean, good space utilization, and some interesting shops. And the Do It Best center is HUGE! I think they're anticipating the huge demand for home improvement supplies once people start moving into all the condominiums under construction nearby. For now, there aren't too many people shopping in the mall. It's only a third as busy as Robinsons Ermita or Galleria on a usual day. They may have opened the mall too soon. It might have been better for them to wait until the condos were ready for occupancy or at least topped off so that there'd be a bigger market. And Robinsons should help pay for a stairway or escalator from the MRT Boni station going in the direction of the mall. The current stairway points away from the mall, adding to the distance and the danger of getting there. By the way, I went there just so I could try the Hot Loops Donuts. In my opinion, their donut dough tastes a lot like Dunkin Donuts, except the hot loops fillings and frostings are a bit yummier. Still too sweet though. I also noticed that they repainted the Robinsons Apartelle. So what's really going to hapen to it if it's not going to be demolished? normandb January 18th, 2005, 04:50 AM The mall of asia in Manila Bay City is open na pala but it is in first phase only so dont expect that it is literally the mall of asia maybe ten years from now. thomasian January 18th, 2005, 10:02 AM Any pictures :? JudeD January 18th, 2005, 12:55 PM I was just at the Mall of Asia area last saturday and it didn't look open to me, although construction is in full swing and looks set to hit this year's target date. ryanr January 21st, 2005, 11:41 AM yeah, any pics? ThisFire January 23rd, 2005, 01:42 AM To anyone, please try to go down to the Bay and take pictures of the projects there like the Mall of Asia, and then please post them on here with your name on them. This would be the only way for eveyone to see what's going on. :) Francis20 January 23rd, 2005, 07:38 AM I also noticed that they repainted the Robinsons Apartelle. So what's really going to hapen to it if it's not going to be demolished? Based on their map of Gateway Residences, Gateway Ridge is supposed to stand from where Robinson's Apartelle now is. If that's the case, then they should demolish it soon. Or probably they are making the most out of it while preselling is underway. thomasian January 24th, 2005, 05:31 AM This is the article about SM San Pablo from SM Prime Holding's website. --------------------------------- SM leases Fil-Estate land in Laguna Author: Elizabeth Sanchez Publication: Philippine Daily Inquirer Date of Publication: 12/18/2004 Posted: 01/10/2005 Fil-Estate Properties Inc. has agreed to lease a 5.8-hectare property in San Pablo City, Laguna to mall developer SM Prime Holdings, Inc., which is developing the site for a mixed-use commercial mall. FEPI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fil-Estate Land, Inc. and its partner Holmsdale Realty and Development Corp., signed a 25-year lease contract with listed firm SM Prime, the group that has developed 19 malls nationwide to date. The leased land is in front of a residential subdivision project of FEPI in San Pablo City dubbed as Riverina. The lease is renewable for another 25 years from October 2029, according to Roberto Roco, Fil-Estate corporate information officer. SM Prime earlier said its net earnings from July to September grew 11 percent to P1.14 billion from last year's P1.03 billion, driven by higher revenues. Gross revenues increased 20 percent to P2.51 billion in the third quarter from P2.09 billion in the same period last year. For the nine month period, net earnings climbed 10 percent to P3.37 billion from P3.07 billion. Gross revenues jumped 16 percent to P7.44 billion from January to September. It opened three additional SM Supermalls last year-- SM City Lucena, SM City Baguio and SM City Marilao. SMPH has also set aside P5 billion for capital spending next year. Construction is ongoing on SM Mall of Asia, touted to be the country's largest mall along Roxas Boulevard. The first phase of the mall will open next year with a gross floor area of 360,000 square meters. This consists of the main mall, an entertainment mall, and two parking buildings. Also set to open next year are SM City San Lazaro in Manila, and SM City Molino in Cavite. mysaong03 January 24th, 2005, 09:34 AM shop till u drop!!!! w/ big discounts & great savings welcoming manila this 2005!!!! good lord!!! Gucci Greenbelt 4 - Fall Winter Sale - starting Jan 15 Mango - all branches - STILL on sale with as high as 70% off now Terranova - STILL on sale (still on 50%) *With new collection* Ayala Centers - Glorietta, Alabang Town Center, Greenbelt 1234 Welcome 2005 Mall Wide Sale - upto 50% off Jan 15-31 50% off on all items on all Kamiseta branches Rustan's End of Season Sale from January 14 to 31. all Topshop and Topman branches up to 50% off on most items. Looking around the CBD most of its sides are surrounded by current subdivisions. cropher January 26th, 2005, 10:48 PM Those 2 villages ( legaspi & salcedo ) are supposed to be meant originally as a an exclusive housing subdivision in the league of San Lorenzo village , but for some reasons it did not flourish as a village but instead converted into a commercial zone and got included the Makati CBD of the present. cropher January 26th, 2005, 11:01 PM If you could noticed , the streets in the legaspi and salcedo villages are narrow and suited for a residential villages , no boulevard or avenue type ( ayala/buendia/makati/paseo de roxas ) traversing it and because the CBD is very successful manifested by the spillover developments in the area , the Makati CBD expanded , hence including those 2 villages in its turf. thomasian January 27th, 2005, 03:23 AM Ayala Land now leads North Triangle mall project Posted: 2:05 AM | Dec. 29, 2004 AYALA Land Inc. has taken controlling interest in North Triangle Depot Commercial Corp., which will set up a five-billion-peso shopping complex in the North Triangle area in Quezon City. Ayala Land, a unit of Ayala Corp. and the country's largest property developer, on Tuesday disclosed that it had acquired the 31-percent minority interest of the Fil-Estate group in NTDCP in exchange for interests it holds in companies with developable properties in the Makati business district. The acquisition increased Ayala Land's interest in North Triangle Depot Commercial to 47 percent from 16 percent and makes it the biggest shareholder in the company. The arrangements "will be effective upon the fulfillment of certain conditions precedent to the contemplated transactions," Ayala Land told the stock exchange. Ayala Land senior vice-president, chief financial officer and treasurer Jaime Ysmael said the assets that had been swapped with Fil-Estate for the stake in North Triangle Depot Commercial involved "small companies" and the deal was valued at about 600 million pesos. "We hope to start construction of the mall in the first quarter of next year," he told XFN-Asia. "The entire project will cost five billion pesos." He said Ayala Land planned to borrow 2.5-3.0 billion pesos to help cover the funding requirement and may get some of the balance from additional equity infusion by shareholders. He did not give further details about the borrowing plan. "We expect the mall to be operational by 2007," Ysmael said. The mall will rise near the SM City-North EDSA shopping mall operated by SM Prime Holdings Inc. -With INQ7.net jbkayaker12 January 27th, 2005, 09:41 AM @Thomasian, hopefully this time it will finally push through with the construction. Especially since it is world-famous and right by the EDSA, which is becoming more and more busy. Am happy that Cubao is being Spruced up. I actually still remember when Cubao was one of the best places to go shopping but unfortunately the Araneta's let it go to seed, but now they're coming back with a vengeance, great for the people of QC. I hope they succeed. By the where is the billboard. I saw there was some brouhaha on TV, is it in front of Megamall? Alson on Mega, some portions of the back seem to be done. It seems to be some sort of Cladding made of Perforated Metal. Looks Good with contrast versus the plain wall. ryanr January 29th, 2005, 01:04 PM I think that walkway is temporary (for about 5 years), for connecting the two lines before they finish the rest of the phases of the Araneta Center rehab. renell January 29th, 2005, 01:11 PM It looks u/c at the moment, but those stairways also look concrete and there to stay to me.... ryanr January 29th, 2005, 01:15 PM Only the stairs are concrete...but the actual bridge itself is a steel structure that can easily be removed. Besides, the full plan of their upgrading of Araneta Center is make the malls (gateway, farmers plaza, etc) fully connected around the dome. renell January 29th, 2005, 01:31 PM hmm... you're right then. But why not just make a permanent walkway so you don't hassle to make another one? ryanr January 29th, 2005, 01:34 PM Because the permanent connection will be a new extention of Gateway that will connect with Farmers Plaza. So, Farmers and Gateway will become one big mall connecting the two MRT lines. This is my understanding of the project, backed by the diagrams and renderings we saw last year (i cant find them anymore!!) renell January 29th, 2005, 01:40 PM Yes I remember those. Can they have the will power to convince the old building to be demolished and turned to new office building? This would be a great advantage to people cause it would decongest makati, eastwood, etc. renell January 30th, 2005, 02:23 PM Not like Makati CBD. It's really comparable to a development like Eastwood or Rockwell. cropher January 30th, 2005, 03:04 PM Yah like Rockwell or Eastwood and Araneta Center's advantage is that it is twice as big against the two and so accessible at all points unlike the two pocket developments. ryanr January 30th, 2005, 03:13 PM I agree...its really a commercial center, not a business district. Very comparable to Eastwood and Rockwell, only larger and has a sports stadium. thomasian January 30th, 2005, 04:40 PM Even if it's twice as big as the two other developments, it is crowded by existing structures in it which makes developing it harder as compared to Eastwood and Rockwell which started development from scratch. cropher January 30th, 2005, 10:41 PM Are there any other commercial center developments in Rockwell aside from the PowerPlant mall ? Eastwood has citywalk and a future one with the podiums of One/Two Central Park . I only have been to these two places once at a time wayback in 2000-2001 and my impression that time was that Rockwell is more cosmo , what about these days? mmp January 31st, 2005, 03:09 AM Have you been to metro manila disneyland. Can they have the will power to convince the old building to be demolished and turned to new office building? This would be a great advantage to people cause it would decongest makati, eastwood, etc. I think it should be, and it was intended to be one in the first place. But it will not add light inside the mall even if it is somewhat translucent because they just put it on top of the concrete wall of Megamall. renell January 31st, 2005, 06:21 AM Right so it's just there to look "cool" thomasian January 31st, 2005, 06:28 AM yeah, it's just like giving Megamall a casing or cover that looks "cool". pau_p1 January 31st, 2005, 07:22 AM yup.. it's just an external add-up to its old wall... actually they also made the walls thicker... during construction, they added styropores on its walls before applying cement on top of them... they they put up those metal structures to accentuate the walls with spaces for advertisments.... anyways... they removed the glass windows on that side situated in the cinema area... so the back is now purely concrete and metal.... the front side of Megamall is now undergoing this facelift.. it seems that it will look impressive when done.. i'll take pictures of it soon..:D bustero January 31st, 2005, 07:41 AM Have you been to metro manila disneyland. I hope Araneta will turn out to be successful so we can disperse a little bit, then people coming from East Manila/Cogeo di na malalayuan. Even Greenhills is upgrading. It's good to see that these very rich families the Aranetas and Ortigases have decided to plunk in money back to the philippines instead of keeping it in dollars. Both of these are several billion pesos upgrades (200million US for Cubao, 4.5 billion for greenhills) . Although its not that clear, you can see that existing malls will be upgraded and new malls will be constructed to surround the dome (almost in 360 degrees). Gateway is already part of the redevelopment and it didn't start just only on Gateway. Redevelopment has started long before Gateway. I think it actually started with the renovation of Araneta Coliseum's Interiors and painting of its exterior. Then they started placing landscaping on the islands and other parts of AC followed by the renovation of Ali Mall, Farmers Plaza and Value Station and the transfer of Fiesta Carnival from the former structure (now Shopwise) to the open area beside SM Cubao. As I walk to the elevated walkways passing thru the Enterprise center , I remember that it has foodcourt that I read here , so I check it out and surprisingly found the seafood that i'm craving for in one of the stores there .So I did not take second thought having my late lunch there at 2:30 pm and for 110 pesos I immensely enjoyed my meal to the fullest. Afterwards I proceeded to Greenbelt , its still beautiful but it is so hot in the unairconditioned portion. I'm expecting at least a breezy wind because of the trees that abound in the park but the trees are really dormant and still . I also saw that the foodcourt in GB3 was gone and it is fenced with plywood. After that I passed by Glorietta and SM Makati. I saw the Gonuts Donuts kiosk with lots of people lining up . I was enticed to buy because the donuts looks so delicious but I still feel I'm full so I decided not to buy anymore and I proceeded going home. Ninang something ata. thomasian February 8th, 2005, 12:22 PM Wahhhh... Iniinggit mo naman ako dun sa halo-halo. Hindi kasi ako pwedeng mag halo-halo nung nag market! market! kami last sunday dahil may ubo ako. Yes they are great additions to this great development. Sayang lang I was pressed for time and naubosan ako ng film so I was not able to take pictures of the skylines in Makati and Ortigas. I like the view from this area. Better take pictures on my next trip before the view gets blocked by skycrapers. Pearl of the Orient Seas - The Philippines (http://community.webshots.com/user/jbkayaker12) thomasian February 9th, 2005, 06:51 AM Went to Gateway yesterday to watch a movie. Sabi nung taga cineplex pwede na rin naman daw yung pagkain at drinks na binili sa labas kahit na nakasulat sa ticket eh bawal. As usual they don't want to disclose the opening date of the cinema with La-Z Boy seats, tentative pa daw. BTW, Rustan's had already opened the second and third level of their department store in Gateway, and Food Choices looks like it will be opening soon because I can see through the gap in the fence walls that it looks pretty completed or at least for that area of the foodcourt only. Because there is a restaurant named " BANGUS " which specialty is the variety of recipes you can create with bangus or milkfish , which that resto says is the tastiest fish in the world . I did not know that bangus is the tastiest fish in the world , but I believe it is indeed. |
