Kasi last June 21 nandun ako then may event sa A1 Atrium tapos sa NAB may event din pero eto ang mas maganda kasi yung stage nya sa NAB yung stage na sa mga new malls (e.g SM city Marikina) yung parang glass na yung gamit

RENOVATION UPDATE
On Lower Ground Floor na palitan na ng Gratine Tiles yung Hallways of Fitness First and Bowling Center inaayos pa yung Celling fixtures nito. Then sa UGF napalitan na ang tiles simula East Wing Entrance up to Wendy's.
Then yung sa Railings napalitan na yung steel railings to glass railings sa Lahat ng Floor and Both A1,and NAB but there's remaining Steel Railings at A1 Atrium and the Escalators at East and West wing near Bingo City and Flawless

i'am not promoting but i only want to share what i see and wala akong paki kahit ano man ang sabihin maski Fairview Fan bakit totoo naman yun pero peace parin tayo ayoko matulad sa ibang members na naag kakapersonalan na

yup. nirerenovate ang SM Fairview, kaya medyo magulo ngayon dun. Ung tiles at ung ceiling nung main mall. Hehehe

^^ @kjlg i know and sana babaan nila ang celling ng Annex 1 and nag iimprove na rin sila. Hindi naman masyado magulo dun slight lang

^^

and a while ago naisip ko kung yung Parking A, B, C, J gawin nilang sky garden
at yung cinema 10 naman ay Digital Theater (cause' Cinema 10 is the biggest cinema at SM city Fairview). Then Cyberzone at Renovation at Cinemas, Food Court, Appliance Center, Bowling Center at SM Supermarket

SM Fairview Revamp UPDATE:

Ceiling design in the East Entrance of the Main Mall features triangular ornaments designed like the granite tiles being installed to replace the old "banyo-like" tiles.

Bukas na ang pictures. :colgate:

That would be impossible. I've been to that tunnel a few times and having
vendors in that area seems ridiculous because it runs through the underground parking area and there are guards at both ends.

What sweet revenge are you talking about? Move over SM and Ayala... Wil Mall is here!!!

A 10-storey mall owned by “Wowowee” host Willie Revillame will soon rise in Quezon City.

Revillame, YES! magazine’s most powerful entertainer, said he is investing P500 million to P600 million for the construction of “Wil Theater Mall.” The building is located along Eugenio Lopez Drive, across ABS-CBN's "audience entrance."

The 3,000-square-meter building will house, among others, a basketball gym, spas, and two multi-purpose theaters, one of which will be used for his popular afternoon game show, Revillame said. Also, the mall’s parking area can accommodate 200 vehicles.

“Nandiyan na lahat. Meron theater na pwedeng gamitin para sa premiere night ng mga pelikula ng Star Cinema, pwedeng gamiting concert nila Gary [Valenciano], Martin [Nievera], Kuh [Ledesma], Zsa Zsa [Padilla], lahat ng performers,” he said.

“Maraming negotiations. Marami nang nakikipag-usap sa akin para kumuha na ng mga pwesto,” he added.

Revillame also claimed that the masses, who comprise majority of his fans, will benefit from his mall since it will generate more employment.

Special treatment

He also announced that those who will watch “Wowowee” in the Wil Theater Mall will be given special treatment. An airconditioned waiting area and an elevator going to the studio will be set up for their convenience, according to the host.

“Meron ding TV para ipapalabas ‘yong mga nangyayari…mga events ng ‘Wowowee.’ May kainan na affordable,” he said.

He also plans to construct a bridgeway to connect the mall to the ABS-CBN building.

Revillame hopes that the construction will be finished in 12 to 16 months.

Architects

Wil Theater Mall is designed by Jonathan Gan, who is among the top architects in the country. Jose Aliling is the engineer for construction management while Star Magic head honcho Johnny Manahan serves as theater consultant.

Manahan, also known as "Mr. M," is the director of "Wowowee."

It had its groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning, an event attended by ABS-CBN big bosses, President Charo Santos-Concio and television head Cory Vidanes, as well as Revillame’s “Wowowee” female co-hosts.

The Wil Theater Mall is Revillame's first real estate business venture.

In the future, he plans to build a condotel near his mall, targeting Filipinos abroad who fly back to the country to watch Wowowee. He also plans to construct a building to provide a home for street children. With a report from TV Patrol World

how did you come up with this conclusion? it's not all about saving money on gas - it's all about using less energy, having a smaller carbon footprint. it's about caring for the environment.

the place is starting to look like SM Marikina... and they have some fast working contractors...

It looks like the dept store renovation will be finished by next year its much tedious work since some parts have huge 3D murals and they have to consult their concessionaires regarding their reassignments, design codes, image approvals etc..

the fun part... the work never stops after the renovation. they are also in the process of rebranding SM as a sossy brand. (a BIG AS IF!) including plans to renovate more department stores.

so if you're planning to put up shop there... hire a good contractor! :D

you mean they are lacking in SM cinemas, SM Supermarket and SM department store. but surely, they dont like these amenities, its just that they are not under SM.

They have Unimart supermarket, they also have a multi-screen theater complex in the Theater Mall and in Promenade. and as for the department store, they have more than what you'll ask for in the thousands of stalls that lined up in virra mall, shopsville and the adjacent buildings

on other updates... ever wondered why colgate and palmolive products missing at SM outlets?! here's a vague answer why!

Colgate-Palmolive products taken off SM stores’ shelves
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
Malaya By Irma Isip

SM stores have stopped carrying products of Colgate-Palmolive, citing issues on "billing process" but sources said a deeper dispute over "terms of trade" was the culprit.

"There are ongoing discussions regarding the billing process," said Millie Dizon, SM Inc. vice president for corporate communications, in a text message.

"New people in Colgate have yet to match their billing and accounting systems with those used by SM," she said.

She did not elaborate but other sources said the dispute was caused by changes introduced by a newly appointed Colgate-Palmolive sales director.

Jose F. Reandelar, legal director and corporate secretary of Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, declined to make a comment.

According to insiders, it was Colgate-Palmolive which pulled out of SM in the early part of the second quarter after they could not agree on the terms by which they would share business.

One consumer analyst said a disruption on the distribution side, especially one involving the largest mall chain, can hurt a broad-based consumer product manufacturer like Colgate-Palmolive.

First, because their product lines, led by shampoo and toothpaste, are fast-moving may be substituted by other brands.

Second, it would be difficult and costly to go back and resume distribution arrangements, especially when it was Colgate-Palmolive which chose to pull out rather than negotiate.

SM, on its part, has business relationships with a large number of multinational companies.

SM’s retail operations include 105 stores nationwide, consisting of 35 department stores, 42 supermarkets, 14 hypermarkets and 14 Makro outlets.

Palmolive shampoo, the market leader, is part of Colgate-Palmolive’s personal care products line, which also includes bath soap, shower gel and talc.

Colgate-Palmolive’s home care division includes Axion dishwashing liquid and Ajax cleansers.

But these are now all mostly imported.

Colgate-Palmolive Philippines closed the production facility of its hair care and home care products in Makati and shifted the operations to Thailand and Malaysia in 2008 as part of the consolidation undertaken by its parent firm to streamline operations.

Cost competitiveness was a big factor in the decision.

Many years earlier, Colgate-Palmolive Philippines stopped local production of Colgate toothpaste and shifted to importation.

Colgate-Palmolive Philippines ceased production of Ajax laundry detergent and bar soap much earlier.

nice, but i dont like what the GH management did to National Bookstore (which was one of the most recognizable tenants there since like forever)..NBS built a new store just outside the GH vicinity when the GH management was renovating the whole virra mall. For some reason, GH didnt like the idea of them moving during the renovation period and had a falling out with NBS, so they fenced the perimeter preventing GH patrons from accessing NBS easily. now they have to walk around the fence just to get to NBS and back.

Only means that the apparatus is smaller than the cinema? They can't fail at that, they just can't that's like, unacceptable. :(

But the D-Cinema at The Block is the clearest i've seen in my life. I watched Narnia there, it's a steal, super linaw.

AT LAST, after almost 20 box office films in RP and 2 years, SM North Edsa is now back as the leading theater in QC. Harry Potter made P105-M in our country and here's the Top 5 list of Highest grossing receipt for the said film

SM Mall of Asia P8.7M
SM North Edsa P7.79M
Trinoma P5.68M
SM Megamall P4.11M
Glorietta 4 P3.86M

IMAX is the one who made SM North's box office receipt on top against Trinoma. A total of P2.1M is the difference between two malls' box office receipts. Another factor is the upcoming LRT...that's a big fight.

Based on this pics, I'd say IMAX NoE is better than IMAX MoA.

i was able to watch HP6 at IMAX... it was nice until faulty air conditioning ruined a scene. just a scene lang naman. the screen became too foggy thanks to air moisture... on some parts you see hands and glass wipers' shadow on the big screen... haha it was an embarrassment for SM but i thought it's the price of experiencing something that hasn't been fully tested. that's where my 400 pesos went! that IMAX theater in North Edsa was so rushed that some parts look like it was just glued up. i kinda wished they stick to the same interior design as MoA's

I think IMAX NoE's is better than MoA's. IMAX MoA's interiors are like decaying. I was outright disappointed and shocked to see how the ceiling and the walls have become. I like the lounge though. And the rest rooms.

I want to ask, Is it worth your bucks?

Not really. I would agree with cq40 that the D-Cinema is clearer. When the film isn't shown in 3D, it's safe to say that you're watching in a regular SM Cinema with a huge screen, that is. After I saw HP6 at IMAX MoA, I thought, "Sana nanood na lang ako sa Trinoma or sa D-Cinema."

Mahirap nga kasi iba't ibang design perspectives yung ginamit.

Matinding planning yan. Design pa lang, BOOM!!! Mahirap na...

bonggang bongga nga... anyways, SM Fairview's new mall interior was designed by the same peeps that did (obviously) SM Bacoor, SM Marikina and SM Cebu Northwing.... whilst, fairview's department store will be featuring IMO the most spectacular atrium among all SM Dept Stores... (better than cubao IMO)

To answer shyaman's question, I think we already have enough malls except for CAMANAVA area. They should have at least 1 big mall.

Wish they'd used the same style as the department store.

we'll it's because its not yet done. i'm quite sure they are going to add color to that. mentioning again, the peeps that did SM Northwing, Bacoor, Marikina and Taytay, are the same peeps that did Fairview so hopefully it will be something... (you'll actually have a hint on what they're gonna do at Fairview when you see these malls)

...it's still bare and it seems that they are still doing revisions, when they started the renovation, they installed warm toned CFLs, (the ones used at SM's recent malls) after about a month after they started work, they are replacing those to daylight ones... we'll have to watch out nalang.. :D

Theatre and Theater are the same. Its the spelling that sets them apart.

To tell you, IMHO, developers aim for the "theatre" spelling to give the place a more "sossy" or a "glam" appeal to people.

Theater - US English
Theatre - British English

Meter - US English
Metre - British English

Both are correct.

Dodgy English? I think not.

in the philippines , yes. just like CENTRE and THEATRE, HARBOUR...we have no history of british colonisation except for 1762-64..the reason for using that spelling is as you say...sosyal...

its no different to a try-hard wannabbee pinoy who goes to the US and returns 6 months later with a supposed American (what ever that means since its never the drawlish corolina or texan or mason dixie line ugly accent) accent....sosyal

I wish someone would be so kind enuf to take photos of the mall construction along soler street in binondo. Heres the situation. Soler st from recto to reina regente is around 300 meters long. half of the street belongs to 168 mall while the other half is the under construction 999 mall of puregold. Beside the 168 and 999 mall is the cityplace of megaworld plus theres the meisic mall. One block away is the humongous tutuban mall. At the end of the currently under construction 168 mall extension are a cluster of multi level malls. If we're goin to add the total land area of the malls currently under construction as well as those already existing, i estimated would be more than 30 hectares. So is the area big or what?! one thing though no parking bldgs are being constructed, i wish lrt2 would extend onto the end of recto in divisoria.

Fantastic! Na miss ko na rin ang Gateway!

Can somebody explain this to me? I visited Megamall twice in two months and in two instances, there's always these these teens wearing like ..."Manga or Anime or Japanese attire" hundreds of them at the mall - just took few shots - they readily agreed to have their photos taken.

EASTWOOD MALL, truly world class.

World-class finds at new high-end mall

By Jake Ramirez
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 01:10:00 08/14/2009

WHEN Andrew Tan and his fledgling real estate company launched Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City, back in 1997, the Asian financial crisis was in full swing and doomsayers had a field day pronouncing judgment on the seeming foolishness of setting up a financial and residential district in the middle of nowhere, accessible only via C5 and E. Rodriguez Avenue.

Fast forward to 2009, and what started as an empty patch of land now brims with high-rise residential condominiums and office buildings. Eastwood City is home to some 8,000 families and a score of BPO (business processing and outsourcing) companies as well as multinationals such as IBM and Citibank, among others.

This is proof of the popular line from the movie “Field of Dreams”: “If you build it, they will come.”

And come they did, as Libis is now a vibrant home to diverse entities such as Shopwise, Prestige/BMW Cars and the soon-to-rise Nuvo City by the Belmontes.

Andrew Tan did in Libis what the Ayalas did to Makati and the Aranetas to Cubao, transforming something barren into an attractive real estate venture. From a single office building for IBM and two residential condos called Olympic Heights and Lafayette, the total number of edifices inside Eastwood City quadrupled throughout the years, resulting in a vibrant, self-sustaining community.

Late last year, Eastwood Mall became the latest addition to the growing retail business in the north, a high-end retail hub that sits in the middle of the entire Megaworld development.

One gets a feeling it is a smaller version of Singapore’s Orchard Road, with pocket parks amidst the concrete jungle. Eastwood Mall’s interiors are comparable to Bangkok’s Siam Centre or Centro. Popular brands, both local and international, as well as eating establishments line the Verandah area of the mall. Even the discount store Office Warehouse has opened a branch inside Eastwood Mall just to service the demands of companies in the area for cheap office supplies.

For sale lovers like me, the nirvana of branded shopping at reduced prices has just opened at the ground floor of the mall. 158 Designers’ Blvd. is a Stores Specialists outlet that carries all its brands such as Tod’s, Gucci, Prada, Alfred Dunhill, Hugo Boss, Kate Spade, DKNY, Bally and much more under one roof.

Imagine a store full of last season’s must-haves at unbelievable prices, like this olive-green Alfred Dunhill small weekender bag with Hermes lock that I was able to grab.

Some of the stores in Eastwood Mall are still preparing to open, but the cinemas at the atrium level are already operational. A huge dome serves as the mall’s main skylight during daytime –its own effort to be green and reduce energy consumption.

I can’t wait for this mall to be in full bloom, especially with the opening of Richmonde Hotel at the upper floors of the mall. Now I don’t have to fly to Singapore via discounted airfare tickets and frequent Raffles City or Pacific Place just to experience world-class shopping. All I have to do is drive to Eastwood Mall.

SM first supermall. I remember their history na according to Henry Sy, it was a risk taking move amidst of political and economic crisis during the time it was built. Many people said that this will not stay longer but they failed and now SM North Edsa is one of the best performing SM Malls in the country

There was no issue anymore. The mosque and chapel are found inside this huge mall - Greenhills Shopping Center. This is not common in Christian majority metropolis but glad to report to you that there is no cause of conflict here.

It is a common sight here in Manila - Moslem traders selling pearls, cellphones and the like.

THE developer and operator of the Sy-controlled Podium Mall is hiking its authorized capital stock in a fund-raising effort to build a new high-rise project within the vicinity of the shopping development.

There will be a vertical development project that will be undertaken in the area where the Podium is,” SM Investments Corp. (SMIC) vice president for investor relations Cora Guidote said in an e-mail to the BusinessMirror. SMIC is the holding company for the Sy family’s major business assets.

Earlier this week the Securities and Exchange Commission approved the request by SM Keppel Land Inc. to increase its capital stock by 17 percent to P511.6-million divided into the same number of shares at a par value of P1 apiece. The total amount will be divided into 438.8 million common shares, while the remainder into 72.8 million redeemable preferred shares, which carry no voting rights and will pay a fixed dividend of 3 percent per annum.

SM Keppel Land further noted the increase of P72.8 million has been fully subscribed and paid up by shareholders. Incorporators include Lim Siah Sun, Hoe Eng Hock, Adora F. Valenton as well as retail tycoon Henry Sy Sr., Teresita Sy-Coson and Henry Sy Jr.

At the end of 2008, the firm reported lower net cash from operating activities at P97.97 million, or a 13-percent declines from the previous year. Total assets grew by 4.6 percent to P1.76 billion.

SM Keppel was incorporated in January 1994 to develop and maintain the operations of its primary asset, the Podium Mall on ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center. Half of the venture is owned by SM banking unit Banco de Oro Unibank, 40 percent by Keppel Philippines Properties Inc. and the remainder by Opon-KE Properties Inc.

Keppel Philippines Properties Inc. is the local unit of Keppel Land Ltd., which is listed in the Stock Exchange of Singapore.

These are the only eye candy locations in the mall, the others are Starmall Mandaluyong/St. Francis Square/Greenhills look-a-like. Its ceiling design, lines, and curves reminds me of that from tech-gadget level in Robinsons Galleria and the colors, white, reminds me of the Ali Mall. It has 6 levels, with 2 escalator wells, and a small atrium, parking spaces and directly connected to the Alphaland Southgate bldg whatever on the sides..Only the first 3 levels are open.

Offers a cute mix of the usuals, a hypermarket like supermarket, mainstream restaurants and basic needs stores but surprisingly, may Le Coeur de France, oh diba. Food court is at the 3rd level, carts similar to that of outside the MRT and next to it are the DVDs, watches, cellphones, the greenhills stuff.

I am not planning to come back in the next 12 months. :)

Why? Its their responsibility now to construct and connect the bridge made by SM to their mall. It's Trinoma's turn to build the bridge in their side.

Friend, you better stop going to SM... natatakot lang ako na when you become an architect you get boxed up to their standards and do nothing else but boxed up design. try hanging out at Power books and look for Retail Design books... there are more better ideas there than at SM. :D

Trinoma ang sisihin mo.  :bash:

Why? Its their responsibility now to construct and connect the bridge made by SM to their mall. It's Trinoma's turn to build the bridge in their side.

kaso wala pang laman :ohno:...
nagkakatraffic kasi lagi doon

Anyway gagawa naman ang Trinoma ng connecting bridge from Grand Station(which is directly conmnected to SM) to Trinoma.

just by living in metro manila, i have already accepted the fact that malls make traffic and it would be sadder if there was none. i have to say that they have managed the traffic around the area quite well. it was a lot worse before. :D

Finally, an SM in Caloocan. That will be a nice replacement to that gritty side of Monumento Circle.

Unfortunately, it will be a bane to nearby shopping centers like that mini-mall across the future SM (is it Araneta Plaza?) and of course Ever Gotesco Grand Central.

the battle between Trinoma Cinemas and SM Cinemas North Edsa continues, as Disney's latest offering "UP!" grossed P46M in RP.

Top 5 Theaters

1. Trinoma [P3.34M]
2. SM North Edsa [P3.10M]
3. SM Mall of Asia [P3.09M]
4. Greenbelt [P1.92M
5. SM Megamall [P1.90M]

the cinema ticket sale battle is between Ayala and SM. where's Robinson by the way? Look at the figures, SM North and Trinoma is in close fight. Maybe the redevelopments of SM North help itself to perform well on their battle. D-Cinema is a big help for this, and I heard ginaya raw ng Trinoma to hehe.

http://www.pep.ph/guide/4557/%22Up%22-posts-Manila's-biggest-opening-ever-for-an-animated-film-at-P45.98M

By the way, at the last Harry Potter, which is Half Blood Prince, SM North Edsa got the second position behind SM Mall of Asia, beating Trinoma. Here's the Top 5 list.

1. SM Mall of Asia [P8.70M]
2. SM North Edsa [P7.79M]
3. Trinoma [P5.68M]
4. SM Megamall [P4.11M]
5. Glorietta [P3.86M]

http://www.pep.ph/guide/4308/Harry-Potter-and-the-Half-Blood-Prince-earned-P105M-in-four-days

Through cinema ticket sales, we can see which mall performs better. But it doesn't mean as a whole, that only occupies by about 20-25% of the mall's performance.

2. Puro assumption lang naman yan from sabi sabi at siguros.
3. TriNoma converted Cinema 4 into a Dolby 3D Digital Cinema, SM besides IMAX is using another innovation called D-Cinema or Digital Cinema.

So Basically when it comes to movie projection...SM has IMAX and Digital Cinema. TriNoma now has a Dolby 3D Digital Cinema. SM North sa 10 Cinemas plus 1 Digital Cinema and 1 IMAX. Mangunguna lang ang SM North EDSA sa cinema returns when it comes to movies which is also filmed in IMAX.

KSP kasi.

i'm saddened by this. gone are the days... before everyone was so excited to see renders of future retail developments. now it's all about who has the most. it's sad this thread is turning out to be the cheapest one at SSC. :(

No matter how hard i try to do research for this thread just to redeem it from its cheap state, it all goes to waste because of one (well actually a couple) rotten apple(s).

sayang... it's just sayang. :( ...just look at the replies. :(

pero pakiusap lang sana sa SM, i hope they take it their responsibility and duty to look after the traffic situation surrounding their malls. kung saan kasi may sm, may trapik. baka masira lang ang gagawing mrt-lrt loop that resembles bangkok's victory monument na ive seen it myself na ang luwag luwag at maayos ang movement ng traffic.

^^yeah! they really need to fix that up. Pero so far, I like the rendering of SM Caloocan, parang ginaya nya yung signage ng AstroHotel na katabi nya sa left side. If erected, that would be the 5th SM mall in EDSA and ?nth in McArthur Highway.

Just to give you an idea how large SM Fairview is now:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/mbassy2003/SM/SMperbsareal.jpg
Source: SCMC/Philippine Star

currently, it has both the largest SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket among everyone-else in the chain... so... in conclusion, Fairview peeps are Grocery Crazy!!
this is the first time I've seen a sky view of SM fairview it is indeed a very large mall and I'm sure with all the wide spaces around the mall SM developers will expand and turn this into the largest mall in the philippines bigger than SM north edsa or maybe the largest in the world.:)
