Well, only slum dweller and poor people would say that statement, too! Can't accept the fact that RWM is a magnet for local and foreign tourists:bash::bash::bash::bash:
INstead of being glad that there is such a thing like this in Manila, you uttered that statement. For the record, I don't work for THEM. Well, I need not brag my financial standing as well.

alexcerado August 19th, 2010, 01:49 PM The mall that started it all: Celebrating 25 years of SM City North EDSA
BULL MARKET, BULL SHEET By Wilson Lee Flores
25 reasons why SM City North Edsa is still exciting after 25 years
You have to have a dream, whether big or small. Then plan well, focus, work hard, and be very determined to achieve your goals. There is no substitute for hard work. There is no such thing as overnight success or easy money. — SM Group founder Henry Sy, Sr.
Although born in Manila and with the first seven years of my childhood in historic Tondo district, all my life has been spent in the colorful and dynamic world of Quezon City. It’s amazing to realize that despite the mushrooming of glitzy Makati and Ortigas, the vast reclamation area of the Mall of Asia and SMX, The Fort and other urban centers of Metro Manila, visionary business taipan Henry Sy’s first-ever mall project SM City North Edsa in Quezon City is still very exciting after 25 years. Ever since it opened on Nov. 8, 1985 during a period of political and economic crises, SM North Edsa has forever revolutionized malling as a lifestyle for the Philippines. Why is it still exciting? Here are 25 reasons:
1. SM North Edsa is ever-changing and reinventing itself. Through the years, anyone passing along EDSA highway can’t help but marvel at the physical changes and beautifications happening to this huge complex. It’s like a block of Lego geometric toys being constantly rearranged and added upon by an artist. In the Annex, the exterior is covered by wavy green-colored cladding and glass windows. The main building called the City Center has added a unique dome to what used to look like an austere and efficient shoebox edifice from yesteryear. SM hired America’s Arquitectonica firm for various elegant renovations. What will Henry Sy add or change next?
2. Mass transit crossroads. Metro Manila’s Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) next year will converge in front of this mall, with the opening of the “SM City North Edsa Grand Station.” Target opening is third quarter of 2011.
3. With 425,000 square meters in floor area, it’s the country’s largest mall and one of the largest in the world. The total land area is 16 hectares.
4. Tourism Secretary Alberto “Bertie” Lim should list this mall as one of the Philippines’ tourist wonders due to the sheer number of people making it a daily fiesta place! The average foot traffic of this mall is 350,000 to 400,000 per day, and this huge number goes up to half million people per day during their humongously popular sales weekends and during holidays. The number of people who go to SM North EDSA is larger than the population of some countries. Now, that’s a great example of people power.
5. Huge, easy and convenient parking spaces. This mall has 5,000 parking slots!
6. Strategic prime location. Not only is SM North Edsa the premier mall in the center of the Philippines’ most heavilypopulated city, it is also the gateway to north of Metro Manila such as Bulacan, Tarlac and Pampanga where many of the residents often come to shop or relax despite the existence of SM and other malls in their provinces.
7. Bus terminals at the mall. One brilliant feature of the mall is its bus terminals, so shoppers and other people can take public transport rides home anytime of day or night.
8. Disabled-friendly mall. This mall is a pioneer in designing its public areas for the convenience of disabled, sick or elderly people who use wheelchairs. It also trains its personnel and tenants to assist disabled customers.
9. Its blockbuster cinemas. SM City North-EDSA’s cinemas have been known to emerge as top grossers during the annual Metro Manila Film Festival. This reinforces Quezon City’s claim to the title of the “Showbiz Capital of the Philippines.”
10. The Philippines’ No. 1 most popular department store. The fourlevel SM Department Store here in this mall is said to have one of the highest sales volume of all department stores nationwide. This is Henry Sy’s favorite place to inspect, especially the shoes and bag sections.
11. The Philippines’ second IMAX movie theater. After the opening of the first IMAX cinema at Mall of Asia, this IMAX here is the second of only two in the Philippines.
12. The Block. This is QC’s version of The Podium. Opening in July 2006, it houses five floors of international-brand shops and specialty restos catering to “a higher niche but not super snooty,” according to SM. It’s upscale, but still not intimidating to the mass market.
13. Skygarden. Opened in May 2009, this oasis of greenery, water features, an amphitheater with retail shops and al fresco dining outlets have become an urban landmark.
14. Interior Zone. Anything one needs for a home or office is here, including art galleries.
15. Cyberzone. On the fourth and fifth floors of SM Annex, it’s the place for computers and other high-tech stuff. On the sixth floor are call centers.
16. Grass Residences connected to mall. Designed by Architect Albert S. Yu of ASYA Design, this project of five towers with 3,000 residential condo units will be connected to the mall via an exclusive covered and elevated pedestrian bridge.
17. Medical and dental facilities. This mall has dental, medical and other health facilities including an ambulatory health clinic.
18. Religious services. It’s fascinating how not a few Protestant or Catholic cathedrals and churches in Europe have become concert halls or just museums, while here in still religious Philippine society we have Henry Sy and his religious wife Felicidad Tan-Sy holding Sunday Masses inside their malls like SM North Edsa! Pray while you shop.
19. Possibly the biggest food court in the Philippines. Fifty tenants offer affordable and wideranging Asian, Western and Filipino cuisines for shoppers.
20. “We’ve got it all” promise. One can buy almost everything from cars to houses and condos at SM North Edsa. During a recent dinner meeting at The Block’s Gloria Maris resto, I saw that the mall even had a display area selling posh Audi cars.
21. Health clubs. Years ago when I wanted to exercise on a treadmill, I’d often go to Slimmers World at The Annex across from the bingo center. It’s still inside the mall at another location. Since the Fitness First gym at the ABS-CBN building where I run on a treadmill closes earlier during weekends like 6 p.m. on Sundays, I’d go to SM North Edsa’s The Block where the Fitness First is open as long as the mall is open — up to 10 p.m.
22. Exciting restaurants. For food lovers like this writer, this mall has a mind-boggling array of choices in terms of cuisines, ambience and prices. Entrepreneur Johnlu Koa told this writer he opened his first French Baker at SM North Edsa in 1989 and it’s now a chain. Koa said: “I hope to have 40 stores by end of the year and am happy that 90 percent of these are at SM.” One of the newer additions is La Mesa Grill owned by Senator Kiko Pangilinan and which opened in June last year at the Skygarden.
23. Beauty and grooming centers. Barbershops, hair salons, massage spas, slimming centers and others for women and men can be found at SM North Edsa. A pioneer is “rags-toriches’ salon tycoon Ricky Reyes who has for the past 25 years expanded his venture here into an empire. Reyes said: “I fondly call Henry Sy as Tatang, he is not only a business icon and mentor, but someone who has become very much like a father to me”.
24. Entertainment center. SM North Edsa is not just a mall, it has also always been a center for wholesome and fun entertainment. Very much like the town plazas, SM North Edsa is an air-conditioned place where people of all ages go to be entertained. Starting in the mid-1980s, future superstars of showbiz like Regine Velasquez, Vina Morales and others also started their careers singing in this mall at the former Viva’s Circus Circus lounge, which SM executives say is now the second-floor bridge of the main building going to the Skygarden. Today, top foreign and local entertainers have performances at the Sky Dome.
25. Efficient and friendly SM staff. Though not a five-star hotel or a high-end shopping center, it is heartening that over the years that I’ve gone to this mall, I’ve found the ordinary salesladies, salesmen, security guards, janitors, managers and other staff of SM North Edsa to be friendly and service-oriented. Perhaps they have imbibed the humility and legendary work ethic of their founder Henry Sy, Sr. and his kids?
---------
I'm going to sm north tom after almost a year. I'll watch Inception at IMAX and to take some pictures too. Wahh I really miss SM North. Simply the best mall in the Philippines.

^^yet, their "robotic" greetings can be annoying at times. :ohno:
also, medyo nakakailang din minsan when there's a "very friendly" sales lady lurking behind, trying to assist you while selecting items to buy at the men's underwear section.

Its possible as long as the building can go higher than the central bank's shortest main building.
alexcerado August 20th, 2010, 11:38 PM SM North EDSA marks its 25th year with tribute to pioneer tenants
PHILIPPINES, AUGUST 16, 2010 - SM, the Philippines' largest chain of shopping malls, celebrated the 25th year of its first mall, SM North EDSA with a tribute to its first batch of tenants. Ricky Reyes, Bench, McDonald's, Jollibee, National Bookstore, Goldilocks--now well-known brands all over the country--were among the mall's first tenants.
To thank them, SM featured the brands in a supplement that ran in broadsheets yesterday, saluting them for taking a chance during the uncertain political climate of 1985 and staying with SM as it opened branches nationwide.
SM North EDSA, inaugurated in 1985, has grown from a floor area of 120,000 square meters to its current floor area of 425,000 square meters, with the additions of the car park and annex buildings in the late 1980s and The Block, Skygarden and Interior Zone in the last few years. It is now one of the largest shopping malls in the world.
With foot traffic of 350,000 a day, increasing to 500,000 during sale periods and holidays, SM North EDSA remains one of SM's most popular malls in Metro Manila, alongside its other major shopping complexes SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia.

according to wikipedia:
The Northlink, opened in May 2010, also known as Annex 4 or The Administration Office served as the main offices of SM City North Edsa. On its ground floor, it houses tenants such as Crave Burger, Kia Motors and KFC. The upper floors meanwhile will house its mall, cinema, tenant, security and logistics offices. Three footbridges were constructed, an alternative access from the Car Park Plaza, The Annex and the Grass Residences to the main mall. Located at the back of City Center (main building), formerly an open parking area.

Higher mall occupancy, rentals seen in 12 months
http://www.manilatimes.net/index.php/business-columns/25805-higher-mall-occupancy-rentals-seen-in-12-months
Tuesday, 14 September 2010 00:00
BY DARWIN G. AMOJELAR SENIOR REPORTER
OCCUPANCY and rental rates in Metro Manila shopping malls are expected to rise in the next 12 months on strong consumer spending and the expansion of clinics, activities and lifestyle services in these commercial hubs, according to a property research firm. In its latest Philippine market overview, Colliers International said Metro Manila malls are expected to enjoy single-digit vacancies given limited mall expansion in the future.
As of the second quarter, vacancy fell from 10.7 percent last year to 8.3 percent this year.
“With consumer spending poised to rebound this year, sales volumes and foot traffic are expected to improve,” Colliers said.
The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) earlier reported that consumer spending in the first quarter quickened to 5.9 percent from 3 percent last year.
Personal consumption expenditures contribute about 70 percent to 80 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). An indicator of economic performance, GDP is the amount of final goods and services produced in the country.
Colliers said mall occupancy is also enjoying a lift from the expansion of clinics, activities and lifestyle services.
“International retail brands have also resumed expansion plans to developing countries like the Philippines.
Specialty stores have been constantly increasing their reach to other parts of Metro Manila,” the research firm said.
All of these developments will contribute to retail vacancy declining to 7 percent over the next 12 months, it said.
The retail sector contributes an average of 12 percent to 15 percent of GDP and is one of the country’s biggest employers.
As of the second quarter, Metro Manila’s retail stock was unchanged at 5 million square meters spread over more than 70 malls.
“With limited opportunity for regional scale mall development in Metro Manila, mall developers are looking into the provinces for expansion. Nevertheless, community-type malls are expected to be developed in various locations in Metro Manila,” Colliers said.
Except for SM Novaliches, most mall expansions are happening outside the metropolis.
Robinsons Land Corp. has three projects slated for completion this year located in Dumaguete, Ilocos Norte, and Cebu, while SM Prime Holdings Inc. is building new malls in Calamba, Tarlac, and San Pablo.
Because of the anticipated strong sales of retail tenants, Colliers said effective rents are expected to increase by 3 percent to 5 percent over the next 12 months.
As of the second quarter, rents for retail space in Ayala Center’s Makati Central Business District (CBD) are at an average of P1,150 per square meter, up by 2.7 percent from P1,120 in the last quarter.
In Ortigas Center, however, rents for retail space are virtually unchanged at P1,035 per square meter a month.
Colliers also said that both commercial and residential segments performed well over the past six months.
“Office leasing got a boost from renewed expansion demand from the BPO [business process outsourcing] sector while residential condominium sales continue to improve behind affordable payment terms.
Confidence in the property market should continue over the next twelve months behind a stronger economic backdrop,” Colliers said.
For second quarter of the year, Makati CBD implied land values marginally declined to an average of P265,000 per square meter.
As a result, the accommodation values are at an average of P16,600 per developable square meter. Commercial values have bottomed out, with implied land values expected to remain stable towards the end of the year.
“Interest for prime properties in the CBD has started to pick up as demand for property development, both office and residential, also intensifies,” Colliers said.
Outside the Makati CBD land values are flat at P120,000 per square meter in the Ortigas Center and at P140,000 to P160,000 in Bonifacio Global City.

LhexiMont September 26th, 2010, 01:26 PM How about the Makro-Sucat ( East Service Road /SSH ) are there plans also to convert it to SM Hypermarket , especially now that there are lots of developments ( midrise communities ) going on that area . BTW , what happened to the proposed Robinson Mall in Sucat Interchange ( Muntinlupa side ) , Robinson is building South Metro Escalades so it will not be farfetched that they will build a mall there in the future. I think , that corridor will be the next boom area because of Vista LakeFront , Tribeca, Escalades , upcoming DMCI midrise project progressing there.

SM scares me... they're oversaturating metro manila. I think with this trend, SMs would compete with each other rather than competing with another brand. this is unhealthy and bad for the Philippine economy.
Imagine, you have an SM Supermarket in Cubao, 2 SaveMores around Kamuning/Kamias, now you have a Hypermarket near Tuazon. all in the same 5km radius... This virtually made the 2 SaveMores insignificant with its community supermarket format.
It's unhealthy kasi SM created a monopoly... all the money goes to them. imagine... they now have control on virtually all FMCGs and that's really not good for us kasi wealth is not distributed evenly and they have the power to junk products they don't like because of business interests.
in the end, we aspiring business owners won't be able to get into the market or expand existing business lalo na in retail because SM controls everything.
whatever happened to "healthy competition" and "promoting local economy"?!

TAIWAN FILM FESTIVAL
Shang Holds First-ever Taiwan Film Festival
The endless pleasures of film and the best of Taiwan cinema awaits avid moviegoers as premier lifestyle destination Shangri-La Plaza presents the first-ever Taiwan Film Festival, which will run from September 23 to 28 at Shang Cineplex Cinema 4.
Also made possible by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, the Taiwan Film Fest features an impressive line-up of some of today’s must-watch Taiwanese films, such as Cape No. 7 (2008). The biggest box office hit in Mandarin Chinese history, it is a moving love story that touches on Taiwan’s history and way of life through the story of young man Aga, who leaves for Taipei to follow his singing dream. Together with other musicians, he becomes part of a band that eventually becomes an incredible musical sensation.

Chocolate Rap (2006) centers on the tough world of break dancing through the eyes of dancer Choco, who singlehandedly outdoes 6 b-boys and is taken under the wing of renowned manager Pachinko. Under his guidance, Choco steadily climbs the ladder to dance success—until a car accident changes his life for good. He then proceeds to teach young dancer King Kong and in the process regains his confidence—but eventually finds himself having to face his young protégé in the biggest battle of his life.

Three young men called Behong, Jeddah and Qingkuang (dubbed “The Three Musketeers” for their lifelong friendship) take the spotlight in Fishing Luck (2005). One summer day, their lives are changed by the arrival of a woman named Zing—bursting through the tranquility that had so peacefully once ruled their lives.
Basketball takes center stage in Kung Fu Dunk (2008), a film that follows the story of youngster Shi-Jie—who possesses impressive skills both in kung fu and basketball. Persuaded by a con man (who happens to be his uncle) to play ball in university to locate his family, Shi-Jie goes on a journey that will change his life forever—which can mean either finding his loved ones, or forever becoming a pawn of his uncles money-making schemes.

Orzboyz! (2008) chronicles the story of two young pranksters (aptly nicknamed “Liar No. 1” and “Liar No. 2”) who plan the trick of their lives—head to the mysterious water park and go through a portal that will take them to the fairytale world of OZ. However, things change when this childhood pact is threatened by a betrayal.
A triangular friendship in the beautiful island of Kinmen is the focus of the film Our Island Our Dreams (2009). The youthful bond tying Xing Jun, A Jin and A Wu together changes when soldier Han Wei arrives from Taiwan and develops an attraction for Xing Jun.
Finally, Yang Yang (2009) follows the journey of Eurasian Yang-Yang, who has always longed for a family (never having seen her birth father, who is French) and appears to have gotten her wish with her mother’s remarriage. However, her new family proves to be disappointing, and she once again goes on a quest to find genuine intimacy. After an unexpected betrayal, she runs away from home and becomes an actress. Despite all this, she remains to face the struggles brought upon by her former heartbreaks.

Agree! Sobra sobra na ang mga malls, er let me qualify that, SM malls sa Metro Manila and nearby provinces. These malls indeed provide jobs (i.e. sales people) and cheap entertainment to people, pero they're definitely killing the small and local businesses.
epik ll ian October 1st, 2010, 04:27 AM Like I was saying ... if we could turn to shopping streets, local business owners could get a shot at making it big, and it gives a unique experience to Metro Manila. You wouldn't have to see the same old stores that you see in every mall. Everything is being taken over by malls now - namely SM. How boring ...
So now what? When people come to Metro Manila to shop, their choices are mostly SM. Wow, what a DULL shopping experience. That's why I like Ayala Center Redevelopment etc. Those pedestrian shopping districts are great.

Broadway musical -- in a mall?abs-cbnNEWS.com

MANILA, Philippines - A full-length Broadway musical will be staged for 2 days at a high-end mall in Makati City.
Power Plant Mall will stage the Broadway hit It's A Grand Night for Singing by Rodgers and Hammerstein for free on October 6 and 7 at 7 p.m.
Shows will be held at the Concourse, the mall's dining area.
"Their (shoppers and guests) response to our Feel Harmonic Series -- where we put the Philharmonic Orchestra on different levels of the Power Plant Mall for a truly powerful musical mall experience -- has inspired us to bring mall entertainment a notch higher," Mark Dantes, marketing supervisor of Rockwell Land Corp., said in a statement.
He continued, "That's why we thought of this full musical in a mall as a fitting sequel which I'm sure they'll enjoy tremendously."

Foreigner in deadly fall in mall committed suicide: police

MANILA, Philippines - Police said Wednesday that the French national who died after falling from the 3rd floor of a mall in Manila, committed suicide.
Police Officer 2 Lester Evangelista of the Manila police's homicide division said French national Jean Louis Battail jumped from the 3rd floor of the Robinson's Place mall around 9 p.m..
Evangelista said that according to witnesses, Battail was being chased by a server of a restaurant when he suddenly jumped.
The police investigator said that the French national entered the restaurant around 7 p.m. and after 2 hours, he asked for his bill, which reached around P4,000.
Restaurant employees said that instead of paying, Battail rushed outside the restaurant and then jumped.
A witness said they heard a woman shout followed by a loud thud on the mall's ground floor.
Another witness said they victim fell on the mall's concrete floor head-first. The French national's skull was cut open and parts of his brain scattered on the floor.
The police investigator said that the French national had no money in his pockets.
He said the foreigner's only possession when died was his passport. The foreigner arrived in Manila on October 1, he added.
Police have yet to establish the reason behind the foreigner's suicide. -- Report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News

Security guard found murdered inside Robinsons’ Place in Ermita
A security guard was stabbed and strangled to death at the fire exit of the third floor of a popular shopping mall in Ermita, Manila on Friday night.
Police identified the victim as Joseph Duque, 23, security guard of the 3rd Alert Security Agency and detailed at the Robinsons’ Place in Ermita.
Investigators said Duque’s hands and feet were tied with electrical cords when his body was discovered. His own garrison belt was found looped around his neck. He also sustained stab wounds in the neck and chest.
Chief Inspector Armando Macaraeg, head of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section, said the victim was found dead at 11 p.m. Friday.
Wilson Quiroz, 23, electrician, told police that he entered a room leading to the fire exit to get electrical wires when he found the victim.
Quiroz reported the incident to the security agency detachment commander Roel Raagas, who immediately relayed the information to the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters.
Investigators theorized that the victim could have been conducting routine security check around the mall when unidentified assailants suddenly pulled him to the fire exit where they attacked him.
The victim was on duty from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City residents will receive a 50 percent discount on movie tickets on Oct. 12 as part of the celebration of the city’s 71st founding anniversary, the city government announced yesterday.
Moviegoers will just have to present valid identification cards to prove their residency in the city.
The discounts will be provided by the National Cinema Association of the Philippines, whose members in Quezon City include the SM mall chain (Fairview, Centerpoint, North EDSA and Cubao), Trinoma, Eastwood, Gateway, Ali Mall, Waltermart and Robinson’s Fairview.
NCAP president Ed Sason, however, clarified that the discount applies only to regular 35-mm movies and not on those screened in IMAX theaters, including 3D movies. Tickets for a 35-mm movie are sold at an average of P120.
Aldrin Cuña, the chief of staff of Mayor Herbert Bautista, said this year’s anniversary celebration will be highlighted with a thanksgiving mass on Oct. 12 and a testimonial dinner in honor of the city’s outstanding citizens for 2010, led by President Aquino, on Oct. 11.
The city government will also be sponsoring a free concert at the Quezon Memorial Circle on Oct. 12 featuring the QC Performing Arts members and the QC Symphonic Band.

Nope it's not a new mall. It's a reinvention of a previous mall which failed miserably. While the surrounding areas like 168 and Divisoria mall were teeming with people, this mall previously known as "MEISIC MALL" was devoid of any real commercial activity. A supermarket (EVER) opened there and was closed in no time at all. The tinderas and the owners were just chitchatting. And to think its location is better than the other malls since it's facing a major street. Well good luck to the new management!

Ah, I remember that MEISIC mall, near to Caltex station. So, this is the 11/88 Shopping Mall. I wonder why they use numbers as the names of the malls. Perhaps, due to the success of 168 Mall? It is followed by 999 Shopping Mall and 11/88 Shopping Mall.
feistyradical October 18th, 2010, 09:37 AM In feng shui, 168 is lucky daw.
From geomancer, Lillian Too:
"The combination of the numbers 1, 6 and 8 is thus regarded as the most auspicious combination of all, especially if your KUA number is any of these three numbers. When people with KUA numbers 1, 6 and 8 work or live together, and they activate
the combination of these three numbers, the luck of prosperity and balance are sure to be evident. Good fortune reigns effortlessly and seamlessly.
In mandarin, the numbers 168 means the “road of prosperity” or “to be prosperous together”. The Chinese consider this one of the luckiest set of numbers. It used to be incorporated into many business names and is today much favoured by anyone knowledgeable about the power of this combination."

pinoyako2010 October 22nd, 2010, 03:51 PM SM Prime Holdings Inc. announces opening of SM City Novaliches today
Friday, October 22, 2010
Business Mirror
SM Prime Holdings Inc., the country's largest mall developer and operator, opens today, Oct. 22, SM City Novaliches, its 40th shopping mall in the Philippines.
In a statement to the local stock exchange, SM Prime said the new mall will have a gross floor area of 60,334 square meters (sq m). It is located on Quirino Highway, barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City. It is SM Prime's third mall in the city, after SM City Fairview and SM City North Edsa.
The new mall is estimated to have provided up to 4,000 new jobs, including those of the mall's tenants and suppliers.
"We warmly welcome all our valued customers to our newest and 40th mall, SM City Novaliches.
The area of Quezon City continues to be a key expansion area for SM malls.
This reinforces our confidence in the prospects of Quezon City given its vibrant population and burgeoning business sector," Hans T. Sy, SM Prime president, said in a statement.
SM City Novaliches has a leasable area of 42,721 sqm, 85 percent of which has already been awarded to various tenants.
The mall's anchor tenants are SM Supermarket, SM Department Store, SM Appliance Center, Ace Hardware, BDO and Watsons. Other tenants include quick service restaurants Jollibee, KFC, McDonald's, Mang Inasal, Shakey's and Pizza Hut; 'fashion and apparel retailers Bench, Penshoppe, Human and Folded N Hung; and health and beauty salons Let's Face It, Davids, Ricky Reyes and GQ Barber.

With the opening of SM City Novaliches, SM Prime malls all over the country now have a combined GFA of 4.8 million sqm.
It will be the last SM mall to be opened in the Philippines for 2010. Before the year ends, SM Prime is scheduled to open its fourth SM mall in mainland China, which will be located in the city of Suzhou.

Oh I see. I know this situation, I just was not aware it was called by that term.
I think this is quite saddening. Rich Filipinos who can actually buy these stuff instead of shopping here they do it in Singapore, Bangkok or Hong Kong instead. Now I'm not quite the economic whizkid but I think when Filipinos buy here, it's a lot better compared to when they buy abroad.
It's also sad that most of these luxe brands are controlled by one entity, Stores Specialists Inc. Is this the same set-up for other Asian countries? I mean I think if LV were to open a grandiose Makati flagship in the Philippines, it must be "owned" by LVMH Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton S.A. right? Or wrong? haha

xavierdude October 23rd, 2010, 11:37 AM Oh I see.
I mean I think if LV were to open a grandiose Makati flagship in the Philippines, it must be "owned" by LVMH Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton S.A. right? Or wrong? haha
the rich would rather be seen shopping at salcedo weekend market instead of a local mall.
thethirtysixth October 23rd, 2010, 01:12 PM RAZONS SOON TO OPEN AT SM CITY FAIRVIEW

pinoyako2010 October 23rd, 2010, 02:53 PM Wala daw KFC sa SM Nova, but merong dessert places like Dairy Queen and California Berry. Yung Design ng SM Novaliches ay parang
Exterior: SM Rosario
Cinema: SM Rosario
Foodcourt: SM Taytay
Ceiling Fixtures: SM North
Dept. Store: SM Tarlac, Calamba, San Pablo
Grabe din daw ang traffic kahapon sa soft opening dahil sumabay sa malakas na ulan at audition ng Willing Willie. Kaya 1hr daw na hindi gumalaw ang traffic

open na ba yung dq sa sm nova?
Perseus II October 24th, 2010, 04:24 PM No offense but some of these malls aren't even opened yet like (e.g. Ayala Center Fairview, SM Center SJDM) and some of these malls aren't even malls. (e.g. Robinsons Susano, Puregold Nova)
An example of a real mall highway is EDSA with malls like SM North EDSA, Trinoma, Ayala Center, SM Megamall, Robinsons Galleria, Mall of Asia, Centris Station & Farmer's Plaza.
Totally agree!:)
I also agree. Yung iba nga hindi pa existing yung malls (panay raw at daw), ina announce na dito sa SSC. :ohno:
michael677 October 24th, 2010, 05:22 PM the rich would rather be seen shopping at salcedo weekend market instead of a local mall.
umm salcedo market is not a mall but a flea market mainly for gourmet food items...
the rich in the philippines would still frequent hongkong for their hi end purchases. but for the ordinary luxury items like basic LV bags or regular Rolexes, they do it here. but for the real rare finds, HOngkong still has the complete assortment
michael677 October 24th, 2010, 05:23 PM MUJI will soon open their 2nd store in Powe Plant Mall. :)

Is this the former Cyberzone, the former Arena or the former household interior shops? Who will now occupy the space vacated by the Food Court at the Lower Ground Floor?

thescene October 26th, 2010, 01:21 AM Is this the former Cyberzone, the former Arena or the former household interior shops? Who will now occupy the space vacated by the Food Court at the Lower Ground Floor?
Cyberzone. The Cyberzone tenants have transferred to the new Cyberzone at the top floor.
Skyscraper Noel October 26th, 2010, 07:42 AM So if The SM Foodcourt in Southmall Occupies the 2nd floor,so this means the Basement which is formerly occupies the Foodcourt will be renovated into the Extension of SM Department store?
And what is the other side of Foodcourt 2nd floor? do you know Arena (Sports Chain Store) which is now gone at Southmall, well is it renovated?
And is SM Southmall still in Renovation?
