Really cool to see the Fullerton Hotel making a name for itself so quickly since it opened only a few years ago, especially considering it pipped age old Raffles Hotel in more then one survey. :D In fact, I remember it said it dosent try to sell itself in the same class as Raffles when it opened?

#26 - The Peninsula Manila (just joking)

But I just noticed that it's the only Peninsula in the Asia Pacific that is not part of the list. How sad. But it's one of the best here in the Philippines, almost tied with the Mandarin Oriental Manila

And another fact, The Peninsula Manila is Peninsula's first hotel outside Hong Kong.

Its's so dissappointing that there is no Hotel/resorts in the Philippines that included in the list. What wrong with Makati Shangrila, Shangrila Mactan, Peninsula Manila, Manila Hotel ang many other?

JustHorace
May 13th, 2006, 04:47 PM
^^And I thought Shangri-La Mactan was Asia's best since it was awarded by Time Magazine's Traveler's Choice Awards as Asia's Most Preferred resort.

Manila Hotel deteriorated over the years. Even if the grand chandeliers are still up and the colonial architecture still intact...the company managing the hotel isn't doing a great job. Peninsula Manila was ranked as among Asia-Pacific's 20 best business hotels.

i think Philippines is not really a tourist hub for some western countries because we're so underrated.

JustHorace
May 14th, 2006, 10:08 AM
But the winds are changing direction...the Philippines is now one of the top choices for vacation among East Asians. We're also getting favorable response from Europeans. And more and more Russians are becoming more interested in the Philippines forcing Moscow and Manila to hold air talks.

well, somehow at least.. but for now, 3M tourists for this year is really pathetic!!!!!

shadow_can2003
May 14th, 2006, 01:11 PM
i think Philippines is not really a tourist hub for some western countries because we're so underrated.

The reasons why?

1. No direct flights to manila.
2. No campaign (tourism campaign)
3. The government is not seriously considering those market (coz right now theyre priority is East Asian Countries)

JustHorace
May 15th, 2006, 04:40 AM
^^True, PAL stopped flying its European destinationsin 1998. British Airways, Alitalia, Air France, and Aeroflot, I think, halted services some years ago. Lufthansa, meanwhile, flies to Frankfurt from Manila via Guangzhou. KLM also services a Manila-Europe route through Amsterdam-Schipol, but I don't know if it's direct.

When it comes to campaigning in western countries, we're not at all laid-back. I remember that cabs in London were used as advertisment for Philippine tourism. We're also getting extensive promotions in Russia.

The East Asians are a good market. Why go further when you have these kind small-eyed neighbors? When we have 'em all, then we can go look for other markets. :D

_zner_
May 15th, 2006, 11:09 AM
^^ small-eyed neighbors? you are so mean!!!! :D

all we need is yo promote our tourism industry via tv ads.

JustHorace
