I suggested this in another thread but I decided to start one so we can discuss this..

Why don't we stick with the Miami= bla,bla (Miami=Midtown Performing Arts District, Miami=Central Business District, Miami=Brickell Financial District, Miami=South Beach Art Deco District, ) for Miami developnment plus the random Miami photo essays every now and then. Instead of just saying we should we should just make it official.

Also, we should make the Downtown Miami Project Rundown thread a sticky and rename it Miami Newbies- Read Before Posting for the Miamians who come in and are overwhelmed by all the development they didn't know about.

This would be benfecial to everyone. It would be considerate to the other Florida forumers, it would be convenient for new Miami forumers and it would be convenient for the regular Miami forumers so they don't have to fish through dozens of threads for info..

What do you think??

i think it should be
1.project rundown
2.brickell
3.miami river
4.cdb/downtown
5..biscayne blvd/performing arts/midtown/uptown
6.miami beach
7.aventura/sunny isles
8.gables/kendall/grove

personally, i don't see why we need more than 1 thread. it works well on skyscraper page so i don't see why it wouldn't work well here, too. & everytime it gets to 500 posts we can just start a miami 2 thread & continue from there. hopefully the original thread can be archived or something so that we don't lose 500 posts of good info.

the trick is for everyone to keep adding to the main thread & not keep creating a ton of new threads for every new development or topic. if something really special happens that the rest of the board who may not necessarily read the miami thread might be interested in, then i could understand starting a separate thread to talk about that specific thing. just so long as new threads aren't constantly popping up.

what does everybody think?

im sorry dave but i don't like that idea, when ever you go into a forum you kinda get turned off when you see a thread with 30 pages,no one wants to read all of that so i say we seperated into 4.scratch what i said before

east(miami beach)
central(brickell downtown)
south(kendall,gables,grove)
north(aventura,north miami,sunny isles)

it sucks for the people who aren't able to or don't follow it as often as those of us who'd be contributing most to the thread, but it's fine for those of us that do. whenever you log on to ssc you know exactly where to go to find the info you want. there's no need to search through a crapload of threads.

i know what you're saying, though, uptown. but the good threads are gonna end up with many pages. there's no way around that. i still think it's easier to search through 1 mega thread then to search through 30+ threads. not to mention, having 1 main thread discourages people from starting a bunch of new threads. & new members can quickly see that there's one main place to post miami info.

that's all my personal opinion, though. if other people see it differently & want to do it a different way, then that's cool with me. one way or another, i'm still gonna read this forum to find info.

Miami development is too much for one thread. Imagine all the developmant for South Beach, Performing Arts District, Midtown, CBD, and Brickell in one thread!!! If we just stick to these threads as the main threads then we can keep other random useless threads from happening. From now on I'm just gonna try to stick to those main threads for Miami development and only post about Miami development or respond in those threads..

Would it be possible to sticky the Downtown Miami Project Rundow thread and make it a Read Before Posting thread?? Who do we talk to for that?

We have been considering creating a Miami metro forum for some time. Still not sure if it would be out on its own, or as a subforum of the Florida forum though.

It certainly seems as if Miami deserves its own forum, as it appears to garner more traffic than the rest of the Florida metro's combined.

I must have missed this a few weeks back, but what's wrong with the core 6 or 7 threads we have now? Other than those, we got Ft. L, Palm Beach, and I have personally started topic specific threads to get specific info to benefit the South Florida listing on Emporis.

Those aren't random useless threads, not that "1 and only" singled me out or anything. But, having been a member for a few months and having visited the forum for over a year and a half, I can say with confidence that separating the Miami area into those designated sectors is logical and helps in referencing specific projects.

I agree to do away with the "city vs. city" threads; in fact, I do apologize if I personally offended anybody for my comments in the Tampa vs. Miami thread, which was, to my shock, closed down when I went to it three days ago.

Allow me to comment. As I am not from Miami, but am interested in Miami I would like a stickied 4 Miami area (dt, blah, blah) threads. That way I can check on things and it is organized. Right now it is a mess.

maybe they should make Miami it's own subsection under the Florida forum or searate from the Florida forum, ie, South Fla. That way you can have the various subsections which don't get mixed up with other florida cities.

maybe a sub of the florida forum, the miami area, or a metropolis by itself next to chicago, ny, and toronto

I don't see what the big problem with the organization of the forum is here. The only problem I see is a few members who have sort of taken over the Miami threads with constant repetitous posts.

It would seem dumb to have a Miami section, and then a Florida section. I could see that becoming an organization nightmare.

i'd like to see people stick the geographic for buildings and information and the lot (example Miami-downtown). i'd also prefer if they created one thread for their personal stuff and blah blah blah (Merry Christmas Florida), so as not to clog the informational threads with it.

So there we have it. Let's just make it official: we're sticking to the Miami = yadda, yadda threads. That would prevent us from having to start a new Miami forum which would just be silly.. If the Miami forumers could just try to do that it would be awesome!!

Of course, there will be the Miami photo threads and the Merry Christmas threads but we just have to be responsible about it. And geuss what if nobody goes to the completely useless threads or responed in them then they will just sink away..

chucks got a point it will give the rest of florida room to breathe, if we try seperating miami, maybe it might even be good for the rest of florida, we might see more stuff on orlando and tampa, and more members once they see that miami isnt the only thing alive
