View Full Version : An apology to the Turks on this forum

I want to take this opportunity to apologize for some of the harsh things I have said to you.

Many of my posts do not reflect the person that I am. When I lose my temper or get passionate about something, I sometimes say things I regret later. For that, I say sorry.

Istanbullu and I have made peace via private messages, thanks to his peace offering, which I find very noble and mature of him.

We Greeks and you Turks may not agree on everything but I am sure that in the future we can express our arguments without profanities and personal or racial insults. I certainly will try.

Peace!

p.s. I also extend this apology to you Urban Girl, as much as you may hate me!

This is great news!

Now please carry this newly found spirit of peace, respect and coexistence into this thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=2836582#post2836582) although the current last post there may not exactly invite such sentiments.

It was really getting ugly so we decided to end this with Leafy.

We should agree to disagree. We are quick tempered people so things may got out of hand sometimes. :)

Let's keep it civilised.

I also apaologise from the rest of the people(Greeks, Turks, others) that i might have insulted.

If you are annoyed with some of my posts you can pm me and i can edit them.

Let's post the pics of our great cities and have fun!

Cheers everyone! :)

Leafs and Istanbullu, that was a brave decision from both of you guys. You proved to be twice the men you seemed to be just a couple of days ago.

Also, too bad this didn't happen earlier. I would have posted my pictures from my tour visit to Istanbul with some friends that took place from 23 to 28 December 2002 when we met with Asim (both editors in emporis-skyscrapers.com) and we had a really nice time. Anyway, if you want to see a big collection of pictures (unfortunately not directly linkable) go to the address below and enjoy!!! many have not been posted in here.

http://community.webshots.com/user/gm2263

Also, if you want to see a lot about Athens, visit the Athens page of skyscrapers - emporis.com in http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/?id=100623 and proceed accordingly.

That's it, now let me jump on the pilot's seat of my A2M2 "ZERO" fighter and bust some fresh US Navy flyboys above the Solomon Islands (Apart from highrise architecture I am crazy for aviation and flight sims and this one (http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/) really rocks!!! )

Have a good night all of you!!!

Thanks a lot GM! :)

btw are you in to MS Flight Simulator? I'm also a huge fan of aviation! :)

December 22nd, 2004, 10:55 PM
Of course darling. Not really into IFR but I have them all from Version 6 to 9 (present). If only I had 9 lives to live and do the things I really like, I would be happy. BTW, is there an expansion disk with Istanblue scenery? I mean, the default for Athens sucks but we have some guys from the online FS community (click here ---> http://avsim.com/greece/hvacc/entrance.htm to visit the Hellenic FSim society) that are working on it. If somebody could come with a full-blown scenery disk of the west coast of Turkey, including Isblue, that would be nice. Virtual mosques, the Hagia Sofya, the skyscrapers. Does something like that exist?

Istanbullu
December 22nd, 2004, 11:03 PM
I'm playing with the default secenery for the maximum frame rate. I don't care about scenery much. I love downloading new planes from avsim though. :)

I think there is one scenery for Istanbul including Hagia Sophia, Maiden Tower, bridges but i don't think you'll see the skyscrapers. Maybe they've made a new one but like i told you i don't focus on scenery. You better check avsim.com for updates.

I love flying ifdg a-320, posky B-747 and kittyhawk B-737! :)

Hey all, sorry to intervene in your peace making discussions :) but.. I noticed you were talking about some cool simulator and I really loved flying simulators when I was younger. Could you point me to the game you're talking about? The name, or when I can either download or buy it, the planes, patches, whatever you can :)

Thanks! :okay:

Istanbullu
December 22nd, 2004, 11:39 PM
Ok, we are talking about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Now this is some serious shit. :) It needs alot of practice and lesson as it teaches you how to fly a plane to a degree.

You can visit www.avsim.com, www.simviation.com for plane liveries, sounds, panels and other stuff about the simulation.

The site of the game: http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/

If you love civil aviation, Flight Simulator will be a great experience for you. If you have any more questions you can ask, will be glad to help. :)

Sorry for having disconnected that abruptly yesterday, I wanted to watch some episodes of CSI (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0247082/?fr=c2l0ZT11a3xteD0yMHxzZz0xfGxtPTIwMHx0dD0xfHBuPTB8cT1DU0l8R08ueD02fGh0bWw9MXxHTy55PTc_;fc=1;ft=20;fm=1) (Crime scene investigation), a TV series, now on DVD, showing the adventures of the crime department of the Las Vegas Police (with many aerial pictures - Las Vegas is a very unusual city with a strange skyline) and thus, I didn't reply to Istanbullu.

Well, to tell the truth, I am a fan of military flight sims too like Tekir, and WWII is of course among my favourites although modern air warfare is also high on my preference list. However, if someone wants to get the experience of flying, then the MS Flight sim is numero uno. You see, put any fighter aviator in a B 747 and instruct him to follow a certain pattern using only instrument flight and you will see what he really stands for as far as civilian aviation is concerned, and that's what Istanbullu is talking about. But... why not open a flight sims thread in Domus Ludicrus Maximus? ?

Do you know Sofy Carayannopoulos from the Schulich School of Business at York University by any chance. She is Greek as well.

No Alan, I do not know her.

I graduated in 2001. What years was she there? Also, the progaram is large so there were over 5,000 students in teh facilities at any given time.

Take care.

she was my business prof at WLU. She is fantastic and a very nice personality. She has received her MBA from York but currently working on her PhD.I think she will receive her degree this year. She teaches at WLU part-time, I see her sometimes.

I'm playing MS Flightsim since 6 years. My first "game" was MS Flisghtsim 98.It was something realy special in my life, flying around from airport to airport etc...I played the game everday after the school.I was dreaming of the game while I was sitting in the class :) MS FS2004 is really godd but we need something new like more airlines(maybe all airlines which exist) more detalied cities and passengers and these "fallow me" cars wouldn't be bad either :)

Istanbullu
December 23rd, 2004, 09:22 PM
Airlines are no problem. You can download all the airline planes from avsim and other similar sites and most of them are much much better than the default planes of the game. ;)

I think the next step for this game will be a living airport like you mention. :)

I hope the next fs will have cities with more detailed structures and moving cars of course. Moving cars would make landings more realistic especially at night when it's dark out approaching the runway with a sight of beautiful bright lights of the traffic flowing like a stream through the city beneath me

Guys, once you have the computing power you can do miracles. Adding cars involves simply more processing power, as is for other things. Besides AVSIM, you can check what's on in computer stores also.

I know i download addons from avsim but i think microsoft's would be better because sometimes they don't work well with the simulator.

The best freeware planes are made by IFDG, Project Opensky, Kittyhawk and Meljet.

Captain Sim's payware's are also good.
