Whats the name of the tower 3rd picture down? Havn't seen that one!
These towers are excellent. Looks like the Gold Coast is going to have more highrise than any of the major cities!!

Let me guess, the similarity wouldnt have anything to do with the sloped roof that each of them have in some way.

Wow, that side view of Circle On Caville looks amazing!! I am thinking along the same lines as GMAC for the similarities of them all. :)

The Q1 is dang ugly. My apartment is 'President' right in front of Q1 and behind the beach.
Q1 is fat but doesn't look 'that' tall. In fact, World Tower looks taller than Q1 right now. The Facades are shocking and it doesn't fit in with the surrounding well.
I have pics right now but unfortunetely cannot post coz I'm talking to you guys via internet cafe.
Will post photos but. Brought my Vaio with me to fill it with nice pics!

^^ Q1 hasn't surpassed World Tower yet. :) That may be why World Tower looks taller?

uum...they all have that nice, but so what look? lol
i like caville the most, because it juts out so strnagly in all different places and the side view looks completely diff. this could also be interpreted as ugly tho lol
i reckon all this glass and sloping roofs are bad. its nice to have a few sloping roofs but these is too extreme. i liike dolphins towers too tho - looks very nice and clean and would be good if a bit taller

I actually disagree - I saw WT a fornight ago and Q1 earlier this week and I'm pretty sure that Q1 looked larger. Maybe it was because it is under-construction and you know that it will become quite a bit larger.
So many nice and tall buildings are about to come into fruition on the GC.

They are all extremely nice, but I like Dolphin Towers the most.
I wish to have them in Sydney, probably in Manly.

Well Sydney has height limits and Melbourne doesn't have the need for them - they wouldn't be viable in Melbourne as you guys have a glut.
Anyway - who are you calling trash? From all accounts Melbourne is trying its best to emulate the Gold Coast in many ways including:
Crown Casino - can't get more gold coast than that.
That little marine exhibit next to the yarra...?
Docklands and Southbank - need I say more about the huge amount of Gold Coast style apartments going up all over Melbourne, I mean GC had them first in a big way and Melbourne has followed (as have many other cities).
Port Melbourne!!! (well its more like the Sunshine Coast)
What about all the palms that have suddenly sprouted all over Melbourne??
Back to the supertowers - they will be fantastic and will complement a fantastic city!!

Yeah it is too bad, for you at least, because you hate the GC (I mean trash coast) so much. Why can't they just build eveything where YOU want them built? Clearly the world would be such a better place. God forbid any kind of improvement of the "trash" coast with a few nice developments...

Its kind of sad that a city is being labeled a 'trash' on the basis of some concrete buildings. I see no point comparing a CBD to a city when its cleary not going to be the same level. Yes Melbourne is a beautifull city, I am not going to lie as I enjoy going there as well. But that doesnt mean Gold Coast is all trashy. Of course I dont live there but the times I have been there (and I have visited here quite a few times) I have enjoyed the stay and have found to allways enjoy myself over there. I think its a marvellosous achievement for a city that mostly rely's on tourism, has a relatively low population compared to CBD's and is a tourist city at heart. A city has to start somewhere and I think the Golc Coast deserves all these Super Towers, does it not have a right to improve if it so called "Trashy".

Surfers Paradise is such a young city. It got its first 10storey blg in 1959.Even by 1970 it only had a handful of multi-storey flats.Throughout he 1970's and 80;s, the place sprouted hundreds of towers. Most just run of the mill same floor plan towers.by 1990's newer and more flashy designs were being built to give the place some glitz. No doubt that Surfers is a holiday destination. With projects like Q1 and especially Circle on cavill, Dolphin towers and Soul, these projects will rejuvinate the centre of the CBD.The people make a city "trashy", be it visitors or bums or bludgers ect.The city now is a vibrant place to live and visit. The many waterways and new suburbs prove the Gold Coast is expanding not only upwards but outwards. Its population will double within 15 years. Its only a positive outlook for the gC!!

It's called EVOLUTION! (Of a city) Yeah I would prefer them in Melbourne because there awsome, but hey! Would you want Australia to have no Gold Coast??????? It's a great city and is still evolving, if it does have any trashy areas, and all our cities must have some, im sure in time they will be redeveloped! The Gold Coast is an asset! (1 of 000's)
Melbounre's South Bank & docklands were absolute trash 10 years ago!! Look at it now!!
If Gold Coast's skyline overtakes Melbourne's, which I thought it had already long ago YES!!!! I'll be shitty, I'll have to get over it! I support any good development in any city though.
GO GOLD COAST/BRISY!!!! BUILD EM!!! BUILD EM TALL!!!

Melbourne has had a bit of a "head start" with its skyline compared to GC.
lets take 90m or 300ft as a significant tall bldg .Melbourne now has 72 scrapers over 300ft/90m with another 13uc. GC has 45 90m with 15 more uc over 90m.
total 2006-
melb-85
GC-60
thats a pretty good catch up! i can see GC getting closer to melbs (over90m count) with 10 years.most new DAs on GC tend to start at 90m or 30storeys.
Another thing is GC only acquired its first 150m scraper this year! and within 5 years it will have a dozen!

Something that has helped fuel the Gold Coast tower boom is the new M1 motorway. Those towers are being baught and occupied by owner occupiers, many of whom commute an hour to Brisbane for work every day. Brisbane's southern industrial zone, the fastest growing industrial area in Australia is less than half an hour from GC and the Port of Brisbane (Australia trade coast) is less than an hour.
As I have said due to the upgrade of the M1 many people now commute between both cities but this has meant that demand for housing and apartments has also increased dramatically in GC. Massive changes at ground level, the removal of trashy shops and the introduction of doezens of international luxury brand boutiques and a trendy restaurant and cafe scene have combined to make the Gold Coast strip one of the best places to live - and work.

I was on the spit today and geeez pivitol point is almost done and it has really added "oomph" to the view accross to southport, with nexas nearby and shores down the road. its turned out to be a really amazing iconic building! This is an amazing city!

Yeah, and as the population grows it'll only get better. Just a question: Are they ever going to re-do the highway between Burleigh and Southport. Every time I drive from Coolangatta airport I dream of being greeted by a wide palm-fringed boulevard lined with cafe's, but instead we have powerlines and quite tacky take-away shops along with the fibro shacks and 60's walk-ups. Is there any plan to rectify this?

Fibro shacks are heritage listed now - well some of them anyway. But your right. I say the same thing about Brisbane, more palm trees on major boulevards. Personally I hate some of the "strip mall developments" you find along the Gold Coast Highway. I much prefer the drive inland from Southport to Robina (can't remember the name of the road) but its got much better development along it. The Bundall Section reminds me of St Kilda Road with all glass office towers along it and their tropical gardens surrounding, the GC Arts Center and the GCCC HQ buildings. Further on is some very classy developments towards Bond University ect..
Thats one road that the tourist doesn't see.

I know, I much prefer driving down Bundall Road/Bermuda Street than I do dow the GC Hwy. I love the Corporate Centre.
In regard to the upgrading of the GC Hwy, It will be fixed up thru Surfers, but not south of the Pink Poodle. It's not too bad at Burleigh these days. But I know what you mean thru Mermaid Beach/Nobby's/Palmie. I suppose it's all a matter of money. It's not as though there's major traffic delays through there all the time. And the government doesn't have the money to spend where it's not despirately needed.
