I'm a photographer noob, Please go easy on me, this is my 1st day at this forum, I registered here because I wanted to know more about photographing and how to take better pictures x)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/shorti/IMG_1101.jpg

I have one more question, I have a Canon S500 and I've just taken these pictures with the auto dial(non-flash/macro), would there be any difference if I had taken them with the manual dial?

wow great pics...especially cliff's

can anyone tell me more about this "macro mode"? because my camera doesnt seem to have this function.

or do you have to use special lens?

Perth4life3

Thanks Sen and bb78!:D
Usually, maco mode is a picture of a tulip thingy for Olympus and cannon, its just a button you press on better cams that allows you to take closeup pics without the blur. You don't need special lenses, (I don't have any to start with) just a tripod or a stable hand, but I'm no profssional, just passing tips I got from other forumers.:)

Perth4life3
December 28th, 2004, 01:09 PM
do you use a tripod cliff? i dont use mine that often and havnt used it for macro.

Cliff
December 28th, 2004, 01:49 PM
No, I don't, but I guess the theory of using tripods for macro is widespread enough to just tell other people for the sake of it.:D

I have a Canon Powershot A80 (Hopefully soon I'll have myself a Canon 300D)

Just put it on macro mode (The flower icon) or manually focus it, usually you can get better results if you experiment with the aperture settings as well.

I've been trying macro photography as well. It is VERY hard to get the focus right, from my experience.

Macro was more challenging on my Olympus Camedia C-765 UZ than my old Sony DSC-S30, I don't know why. Out of many attempts that's the best one I've got, the best sharpness is the priority with some light, too.

Here's a picture of my electic shaver's blades I took a while ago with my Fuji S5000. The colours were modified in the gimp.
The blurryness is meant for artistic effect, but I'm undecided as to if it works.

I didn't use use macro mode, I used super macro mode! :D

My camera lets you take pictures from 3 cm away, which is really cool, but not as good as Nikon cameras which can focus from 1 cm away.
