Sainte Marie de Saint Bertrand de Comminges | St Bertrand de Comminges, France

It was a long name for this thread. But here it is, it's one more southern French churchs I wanted to show to friends. The first building on this site was built 2000 years ago (it's an habit in the southern France). This church has been modified several time through history.

The County of Comminges was a part of the County of Toulouse. The county of Toulouse was, for some times the wealthiest area of France (actually, the Duchy of Gascony was sometime the wealthiest, while at other moments it was the County of Toulouse).

The wood in this chuch comes from Gascony and it the best of France. All pictures by me:

7,5 to me, once again, it's more impressive to see for real I think.

Or the roof, there is the Lion de l'Armagnac (sadly I messed up the picture). The coat of arm of Richard Lionheart. Yet, Richard Lionheart never ruled the area. Also, the golden eagle remind me of the symbol of Germany.

i dont think its a very impressive church to be honest, but thats coming from the area where village churches are the size of cathedrals so it is relative. some of the work inside is wonderful though
