Hi guys,

I'm in Singapore right now on holiday. On my way here, I've stopped in Saudi for two weeks, visiting all the main cities. Jeddah is really booming construction wise. There's a ridiculous amount of shopping malls in particular being built, and they're going up at a very rapid pace thanks to precast block construction. King's road, and Prince Sultan street have expanded north big time, going well past the airport. However, I arrived just 2 days after the consulate attack (as well as Faqeeh's "coup" while I was there) , and so I was a bit wary of taking photos with my big and bulky camera when security is jumpy.

Some highlights:

There's a fantastic looking business park on Prince Sultan street called 21 north Jeddah. It's simply stunning. Sandstone metal and glass cladding. Angular style with curved surfaces. Really massive, occupies a whole subdivision block (or at least feels that big). Completed

Corniche hotel: The seven star hotel the Faisaliya group is building is nearly finished. It's located on the corniche, right next to the intersection with Sari street. They've finished with the cladding and have already started interior fitting. A work colleague who's involved as a contractor tells me it is the most luxurious place he's seen. The average room has 3 plasma screens! It will be operated by Rosewood hotles, who run the Faisaliya. The building consists of a tall tower that slightly resembles the Kingdom tower (although shorter, and cladded in blue glass and sandstone, and the top hole is rounder) with a second shorter cylinderical tower.

Ka3ki's corniche tower (don't know its name). A condo tower right next to Corniche Gardens. At the moment all you can see are three concrete cores rising up, as well as a steel framed podium at the bottom. The cores are already about 50% higher than corniche gardens, so it should be massive.

Medina is also seeing a lot of construction, as is Riyadh (Olaya is really filling up).

That's all for now.

Salamlam

Hala HiJazzy how are you?
I am not the only Saudi here :). I am happy to see you.

Yes I know the city of Jeddah is booming. Do you have any news about The Princes tower (235 m) of height?

I told you before Sultan Street is going to compete with Tahliya st (hangout streets).

About the new tower you said 7 *’s hotel I think it is named (something Palace) I will look for more infos.

Did you see the constrictions of the 3 ugly towers of Farsi? (Mafi zoog abadan)

Regarding the counsel bomb they did an interview with me in an electronic newspaper called elaph. I was showing my opinion on the attack and they posted my photo ;).

Al Faqih is planning for another coup on Hajj soon. (What do you think of him?)

Enjoy your time in Singapore. Don’t forget to visit Santosa Island.

Well you're in luck. It's not much, but it's the best I have right now.

I took a few photos from my room when I was in Jeddah, just to test out the photo stitch program that came with my camera. I've found that the tower appears in the background. I've zoomed it in, but you have to take into account that the picture was taken from quite a distance (and I wasn't focusing on the building), so the picture isn't great.

The 7 stars tower looks fabulous. Do you have closer photo of it? Also do you have photos of Kaki towers?

I saw the Cornich Gardens, I think they are not that attractive but Cornich Dreamers going to be much better.

Very good job Shikh al Madaina :).

Sorry Majed, but I don't. :(

The irony is, our house in Jeddah is really close to the building (next to Boyoutat) so I could've taken some wonderful photos from my rooftop. But we've rented the place out.

Regarding the princes tower, I looked for it, but couldn't find it. Where the hell is it? Didn't see any sign of it. :dunno:

HiJazzey you live in a beautiful location! I have a friend living in al Bouytat! Very smart design but expansive.

Princes Tower hmm. A project like that should be giving a well known location and attention. It should be in Al Madina road.
Any news about Jawharat Al Babten.

Ana 3areh haretak as2elah ;).

Hehe, to be honest when I was in Jeddah I really didn't have the chance to ask around. So no.

But it seems in a general sense that there are a lot of projects happening in town. There was a real estate convention in Jeddah when I was there and apparently a lot of business getting done there.
