I would have to take 3 trains to get between Parkwood/Southport and Griffith Uni?

I can't make lines connect to every station. It's just the nature of it, still, if the trains ran frequently, you could get there in 15 minutes.

Nope...according to the map, you can take the green line from parkwood, change to blue line at Carrara Entertainment Centre to get to Griffitth Uni. And from Southport, the blue line goes right to Griffith.

You realise the map is not exactly representative of the geography, I could walk the distance faster than going via Cararra. The same from Southport via Broadbeach. There's a reason that's the route of the proposed light rail, it's probably the busiest PT route in the city what with all the international students and the institutional parking difficulties.
Obviously this is all hypothetical and I'm not complaining at all, it's a good proposal otherwise, and I'd be ecstatic with even a fraction of that kind of infrastructure. I won't be a commuter in this area by the time anything like this would be built anyway.

Why not? Why can't we just have pneumatic tubes attatched to every house? ;)
The green line is pretty close to the existing rail anyway, I'd wager an expansion of the existing system would actually be possible to service those areas to an equivalent capacity.
I'll stop now, it's a nice dream. Sucks that I'll be hairless and toothless by the time we have any service like this.
