Yes I think we need a small stuff thread - I'll kick it off. (Might be good to make it "sticky" and also the Brisbane one too)

I'm not sure if these "small stuff" threads really need to be made into a "sticky".

Nice little projects though.

Good idea with the 12 stories of less thread for the GC, always nice little "boutique" projects everywhere. I really like that Marista one.

Has anyone else seen a billboard for Reflections(i think that is what it's called)? The billboard is on Nerang-Broadbeach Rd, just near the Surfers Paradise Golf Course, before Bermuda Street. It's on the site opposite the Convention Centre, on T.E. Peters Drive.

Got hooked into taking some pictures of the new Griffith Uni construction this morning, Clinical Sciences 2 this is, 4 or 5 floors depending on where you look at it from, so I guess it qualifies for this thread.

its not bad----- but its 500m long so walk up and down and you have walked 1km most older people will not like this ----its like burwood in nsw ---burwood plaza has older people shopping there 60years plus because it smaller less to walk but westfield
burwood is full of younger people ----- its about 300m long---but has 3 floors ---the older helensvale center across the road will be like burwood plaza smaller for older people which you can see already when i went over there on wednesday but still not enough car spaces on either side they need more

Pussies. :p The Logan Hyperdome is 1.4km from one end to the other. That's 2.8km round journey. For the most part it's only one level though. Excluding Myers and some of the new section. Not to mention there's an additional cluster of buildings as part of the 'home centre'. I believe it's the largest shopping center in the southern hemisphere in terms of ground coverage.

Not exactly an inspiring building though. The new bit is 'OK' the older style bits are an exercise in concrete box making.

oi, do you guys know what's going on with Freshwater point? It's on the site opposite on Little Tallebudgerra Creek from the convention centre. There's two massive cranes on site at the moment.

I'm sure this has been posted before but I couldn't find the thread.

I noticed this week excavation work's begun on the site. Shouldn't be long until we see this one start to rise.

It's located on the beachfront about 50 meters south of Jade/Q1.

Should be 12 stories, 1 apartment per floor

When I did a google search for: Alure, Surfers Paradise I didn't find any information about this development but I did get multiple oppurtunities to purchase pornography. :)

However I think it might be spelt Allure, because later I found this info here (http://www.surfersparadise.com/pdfs/2005/Architecture_and_Property_Development_Edit_2.pdf)

Project: Allure
Location: Northcliffe Terrace, Surfers Paradise
Developer: Richardson & Wrench Broadwater P/L

A really interesting floor plate with this tower. Also each bedroom with an ensuite is a great idea.

http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/8915/plan7zm.jpg

This tower should get its own thread now the G.C. has its own section. It's 14 stories according to the website so not really 12 stories or less. Not sure when it changed but I guess the developer figures 2 extra appartments equals 8 million dollars more in sales.

I guess; foyer + 12 appartments + the one penthouse over 2 floors = 14

You might also want to update Emporis too Cul :)

Chevron Island tower starts

November 1st, 2008

A BRISBANE development company says it has sold 60 per cent of the apartments in what is set to be Chevron Island's first highrise.

Beretta Group, linked to Frank Ferro and Marco Ferro, has started construction of the 10-level $35 million Modena on Chevron on a near 4000sq m site fronting Stanhill Drive and Darrambal and Illawong streets.

Associated company Beretta Project Services acquired the parcel from Sydney-based Chevron 2 in August this year at a cost of $7 million. The project comprises 64 two and three-bedroom apartments over three buildings.

Modena is presently at basement level and is expected to be complete by early 2010.

Marco Ferro said 38 apartments had sold off the plan mostly to owner occupiers for a total of $23.5 million.

"We have sold 60 per cent of the project and inquiries from both here and overseas are very strong at the moment," he said.

"We seem to be defying the current economic climate and it may be that our low price point is meeting the market.

"We've had particularly strong interest from Chevron Island residents who have lived on the island for some time, especially those who want to move from their larger waterfront houses to a quality development.

"Chevron Island is a fantastic location and owner occupiers are our main buyers so far.

"There's plenty happening in the commercial centre of Thomas Drive, there's a great deal of local beautification going on and it's all a five-minute stroll from Surfers Paradise.

"It's not hard to see what the attraction of the area is and it's not inconceivable that Modena on Chevron will drive the next phase of the local renaissance."

The project is being built by PBS Construction.

Each apartment will feature quality fixtures and surfaces, water views, and a balcony while the building is to have lift access to all floors and basement parking. Prices start at $620,000.

It looks like a nice developpment for chevron, not to big an over powering. Im not to sure densifying chevron is a good thing though, every time im there it seems choked with traffic, adding more people to the mix isnt going to do much good.
